although i will say that in some instances of meditation, the breath will be still and the third eye will activate past life clearing or even clearing of this lifes "karma" but that is very rare compared to moving of energy with breath.
detoxification is not really necesarry, kriya yoga the cleansing of the spine through the breath is the direct cleansing of that which would be called karma. otherwise what would be the point? if your not clearing your karma, who cares what your doing, it wont have any real effect on your development. i honestly dont know what acharyas idea of kriya yoga is, but from my perspective it goes hand in hand with meditation. in fact medtation has no effect without the breath being moved through system
I would like to ask the speaker, what do you mean by Kriya? Is it the Kriya Yoga mentioned in Bhagvad Gita Verse 4.29 or the chaotic breathings or Kriya taught by AoL ?
This is not what Paramhansa Yogananda taught. I lived in an Ananda Sangha community for several years and we were taught specifically that Kriya meditation burns karma. So who is right? Or does it even really matter to know?

let common sense prevail.i think he makes sense, cuz this is what yogananda explained too, that it detoxifies, removes excess carbon etc.
so you become healthier,as he said.but removal of karma is another thing, which deals with self-discipline yama and niyama
