careful with ur timing, I think this song is gr8. I played this in my exam (I'm on grd 8). I find this a really nice song. A little hard but it's way better than that other one in my opinion. Should def go with this one
Thanks for posting! I was trying to learn this piece (I'm just an untrained amateur) so I needed to hear it - your video is very helpful but I don't know if I'll ever be able to speed it up! Maybe I'll just listen :-)
Tchaikovsky is a lot harder so ....... if u think ur good enough for it then go ahead just that Chopin's piece may seem easy but the expression and mood is very hard to achieve im playing Chopin for my exam
I really enjoyed your performance thank you, I'm just about to begin learning this song and have never heard it before until now, so thank you for sharing again (:
I'm in awe that you can play this piece SO well so soon after you just get hold of the music!
Personally I would choose Chopin (I'll be on Grade 7 next month after my exam and Chopin is one of the pieces I've already secretly chosen for Grade 7!) but being a Chopin nut I'm a little biased ;)
of course the choice has to down to which one you feel most at home playing and which one you like best!
I can sympathise though with the indecisiveness, I'm exactly the same! good luck with Grade 7 :)
you play both so well.. im slightly more drawn to your performance of this mazurka than the octobre. i've been learning the tchaikovsky and love it to bits but my teacher has given me the chopin to start learning this week as an alternative. they are both so nice but i dont feel i have time to learn the chopin. anyway, excellent playing i recommend the chopin!!
It's a tough call! Most times, I would say the Chopin. You are playing it nicely--you are already on your way to capturing the spirit of the polish dance. That is well done! However, the Tchaikovsky also has a lot of appeal, with some rare opportunities for lovely handwork in it--which could give you an unexpected advantage. It is hard to decide! Must you choose only one?
it s very sty;ish. I would make the dotted rhythm first note longer and wait more sometimes before short note.this will give even more whimsy feel.but actually you have a great feeling for this.the trills could be clearer and more like a little bird.xx
nice job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

good tempo for a mazurka.. but pedals dont seem like they're working, because the grace notes aren't sustaining..

I played this piece, but yours sounds a lot better than mine! I managed to pass though, but you should play this one- its lovely!

It's grade 6=)
About timing... It's not important in chopin too much, cause he have to be played rubato...
I like this performance...
And right now i'm deciding to learn this piece or marche funebre (which is grade 7:))

Very nice. Go for Chopin every time!

My music book says the tempo is vivace and a dotted half note gets 50.

omg this needs to go so much slower.
im learning it for my grade 7 now.
my piano teacher says not to play it faster than the time it says on the page.
(yes it says stretto but not that much stretto!)
but btw: your hair is so nice. and i like the evil section (of the piece)
lucretia16 3 years ago
your teacher is dead wrong, I've heard world-class pianists play this piece at the same speed or even a bit faster
