I think it would be animal cruelty NOT to chain them up, because if it loses its balance or tries to chase a bird or bug (or whatever) it might jump off, kill itself and cause an accident on the freeway. Dogs love wind and being in moving cars, so I'm sure it was fine. If the owner took the time to securley tie it in there, he probably loves it. An asshole owner who didn't care wouldn't take the time to do that.

It was in the middle of a 6 lane highway and if I didn't hit it, someone else would have. its not animal cruelty. where i live many people train there dogs to sit in the back while they travel short distances, and the dogs enjoy it! they get tons of fresh air and a much wider view, much more smells, they seem freer than being cooped up inside the cab with the AC blowing in their faces. you could just be a city person who has never seen something like that before and yur amazed lol im just guessing tho i have no idea who u r or if u live in a city... im not trying to insult u either

Actually I see this kinda thing all the time when I go down the highway. I personally think it's okay to put your dog in the back of a ute or pick up truck or something, so long as they're properly secured, and not traveling at break-neck speeds!

If you had to treat a dog that jumped or fell from a truck bed you would never do this. People have hands and cant hang on in a moving vehicle why would someone think a dog can hang on ? The injuries they suffer are horrible. Skin pealed off their legs... broken bones. If you let your dogs ride in a truck bed you are not thinking, some people let their kids ride in truck beds. I think it was human cruelty for me to watch this annoying video. I couldn't even see what the problem was. There was a dog in the back of a truck, the dog was apparently quite used to it, and the truck was driving. I see that crap a thousand times a day. TRUST ME, no one had to wrestle that dog in the back of the truck, he probably jumped up there himself without being asked.

NO! I hate when people put their dogs in the back of a truck! It's VERY VERY dangerous. My dad told me he saw it happen once. He was driving to Colorado and he saw a truck pulled over on the side of a sharp turn. He said when he passed, a cowboy was walking up the hill in tears holding he dead shepard in his arms. First forget the safety of the dog and think about the safety of other people driving by.
Although dogs do like the back of a moving truck, it is very irresponsible of the driver to allow the dog to be there. If the dog happens to fall or jump from the truck and his another vehicle, there will absolutely be a fatal car accident at those speeds.

na, people like you need to consider facts. for one a dog would rather be in the back of a moving truck than in the cramped-up cab. They love the breeze, this is obvious as they always try to stick their heads out the window. they love it!! Having the tailgate down is questionable, never have i been so ignorant as to forget to secure my dog in the back. People are cruel so theres no way of telling, most likely he wasnt going very far and just wanted to take his dog with him.

Actually I see this kinda thing all the time when I go down the highway. I personally think it's okay to put your dog in the back of a ute or pick up truck or something, so long as they're properly secured, and not traveling at break-neck speeds!
So, I don't think it's a good idea to have a dog in the back travelling 150km down a highway with the tail gate down. In conclusion, this is most probably animal cruelty (though it could be worse)

Dogs should ride INSIDE. I've seen how it turns out when the dog falls or jumps out, and I know that it also turns out badly when/if the truck is in an accident. Put the dog inside, and use a dog safety harness/seatbelt. Stating that dogs like to ride this way-well, do you really think that the dog is capable of making an intelligent decision for himself?? Please just let the dogs ride inside to keep your friend safe.
