If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, infinite. For man has closed himself up, till he sees all things thro' narow chinks of his cavern.
At my school we have this poetry competition. We pick a poem, memorize it, and recite it in front of our grade. The teachers pick the best 3 or 4 from every grade who go on and perform in front of half the school. I'm picking augeries of innosense. The poem Johnny takes the line from before he fineshes the job. Hopefully I get to the school wide.
Dead Man is one of those films that go straight to the subconscious even as you are watching it. Its roots lie there, and yet it is completely real at the same time. Little happens but is is all so loaded and pregnant and beautiful filled with the horror and stark beauty of life. It is a nightmare on film and everything about it is completely realised - the performances, the photography, the music, the symbolism. Wow what a fucking movie -- up there with the best films ever made. What a gift.
This is one of my favorite scenes in this movie!!!! "yes I am...do you know my poetry" GOD DAMN!! yea..shows him go from City Slicker to rough rider...
I once played this movie with my x & her girlfriend over watching. They both fell asleep & they hated it. That's when i knew i had to make her my x...
btw i love the part after this when those headhunters comment on one of these dead guys - "looks like a religious icon.." :D and then squashes his head xD
it's definitely endless night. sweet delight doesn't even make sense. who says sweet delight before shooting someone? haha. youtube comments are funny.
haha. you missed it. the quote is, some are born to sweet delight, some are born to endless night. listen to the song by the Doors. haha. youtube comments ARE funny
Its a poem by William Blake ya tit! Kidding, you're probably not a tit. I wouldn't have known that if i hadn't found a massive book of his poetry in my garage a year ago.
This is the scene that puts the whole movie together, it's like an epiphany. The peak, of the movie, if you will. "Stupid fucking white man" -heh, I love Nobody. Exaybachay, he who talks loud say nothing!
thats the best scene out of the best film ever made in my opinion. his poetry stays with him in various forms throughout different incarnations, both equally powerful. Is the pen mightier than the sword?
one of the best movies ever made in my opinion

Some to misery are born,
Every morn and every night
Some are born to sweet delight.
Some are born to sweet delight,
Some are born to endless night.
