  • oh realy? i thought you gonna say how to get more than one game in the VMU.... lost my time here

    check what i did watch?v=BE5Oy-hwWTc

  • 3:25 I think he said Sega PS2. LOL

  • i hope you know on ebay, you can get a DC VMU power block. it lets you upload saves and mini games to your pc and the vmu gets 800+ blocks.

  • website doesnt load can u put link in descreption or something

  • @sonic13rocker Yeah okay check now there should be a link in the description.

  • @MN12BIRD y did sonic13rocker close his account

  • It's awesome

  • Do rechargeable 3V batteries exist? So when I plug my VMU into my controller with the system on, it'll charge.

  • @PIKACHU49386 no. sorry. if you eant to have unlimited batteries you should get a VMU emulator.

  • Theres a problem with unlocking that "extra" 44 blocks. It will cause some games to not recognize your VMU at all. So there is a trade off for the extra data. Off hand i know Metropolis Street Racer wont work with a modified VMU

  • Download imgburn instead. It's just as good as discjuggler, but easier to use and full content for free.

How many game saves will those extra blocks add alone?

  • @Scourgeandmephiles93 depends on the game but 44 blocks is kida good maybe a 1 or 2 games

  • Download imgburn instead. It's just as good as discjuggler, but easier to use and full content for free.

  • A amazing design for a memory card.. so clever.. Rember the sonic adventure days of looking after your chaos.. Good times lol

  • SWEET you can unlock a VMU :D

you made my day...now I just have to rebuy mine lol

  • When you said that 21st of June 2008 is the correct date I was like WTF then i looked at the date of the video and felt silly XD

  • Yeah, that damned shell always goes missing...

  • ...I think I need new batteries too lol. I only just got one with a screen on because I recently re-bought a DC off eBay. The VMU it came with was screenless, and had "Electronics Boutique" (used to be a chain of stores in the UK in the late 90s/early 00s) written there instead.

That's awesome news about Dream Explorer :) I'll have to give it a try sometime.

  • @AlexanderBrooke LOL, Electronics Boutique, is called EB Games over here in the USA. Maybe they packed up and left the uk for the usa?

  • @funkymunky65 Possibly. Either that or they both existed around the same time, just with different regional names.

  • @AlexanderBrooke ya, but when you got a receipt from buying something, it said "Electronics Boutique" at the bottom of the receipt. but they were replaced GameStop in my region.

  • May not hold a lot of info, but I've got six so I'm good :D

  • The VMU is such a cool idea, and to this day no console manufacturer has catched up with it. Imagine with today's LED tecnology, you could have a radar in race games, information on fuel/tyre/suspention status, you could have lightguns with binocular sights (putting the vmu in the lightgun), tactical information in PES or FIFA hidden from the adversary. Have the special moves of a character on the vmu as you execute them in Tekken, etc, etc etc.

Such a great ideia that seems lost in SEGA mind.

  • @kriptonis Yeah I see what you mean.. Although in shenmue 1/ shenmue 2/ They did have special moves of a character when learning one in combat...

  • Hi Jake, hope all is well. Just came across this video and favourited it because i've just picked up a mint and boxed Dreamcast through a good buddy on here (snestastic) and a vmu came with it, and this vid will help me out alot so thanks for the video.... :)

  • Max Payne mouse pad = Awesome! :D

  • I'm new to the dreamcast so I was wondering if I can use this to copy and backup files on a backup vmu. I like to backup files. Gives me peace of mind.

  • does this change the sound on a Dreamcast?

  • hey can you put up a video showing how to put the dreamexplorer/vmu tool on a cd or dvd

  • Thanks man, thanks for helping out the dumbass noobs such as myself. And is that Vernors? I love Vernors.

  • how you put and play games on the vmu?

  • my vmu won't turn on unless i put it in my contoller. any advice?

  • Put new batteries in it?

  • You probably have to replace the batteries in it you can probably get new batteries for the VMU at Radioshack.

  • same

  • replace the batteries?

  • @moosterbutter123

have you tried putting batteries in it?

  • The link in the video is dead Google dream explorer. I think your fingers should work ya lazy bastards. =) Lol. I'm lazy but come on.

  • I hate that thing!!!! Everytime I put in new batteries they die within an hour!

  • LOL its true...

  • @Petitprox Why don`t you just build a AA battery

    pack for it

  • @harrykid Because I don't use it anymore :P

  • @Petitprox good point

  • @Petitprox Probably why the didn't make the VMU a independent portal console lol.

  • @Petitprox try 2032 3 v batteries i put in a new and a half dead 2032 batteries and they are still alive for like a week

  • The Website Is Dead Can U E-Mail Me The Program?

  • By the way, WTF happened with BlueSwirl website? Is it permanently dead? :'(

I bought VMU few days before, and only today I was able to build a VMU programmer (i don't have real Dreamcast)...

  • Instead of the VMU using batteries. Why didn't they make it so that it gets it's power directly from the controller like the N64.

  • It does when its in the controller. In other words even if the battery is dead it still saves your game and you can still use the screen in the controller. But it would have been sweet if it had a rechargable battery in it that charged when in the controller!

  • my vmus are 4 mb each. they are colored :D green and blue

  • how do you turn on the VMU

  • Press the Sleep button and if it still dosent turn on then you will need new batteries.

  • Crap! Mine won't turn on. What kind of batteries do you need?

  • The ones you use watches and stuff.

  • the same batteries in a watch shame it doesent charge when in the controller

  • CR2032 type

  • Congrats to Dreamcast!

    Those days!

  • 09:03 I have the vmu toll, but dont get why he needs to have the vmu games on the vmu....the vmu tool also has vmi emulator so you can play all the vmu gmes on the tv screen, thats what I do, since both my vmus have no batteries and not really worth buyin batteries tio vmu that last max 1 hour

  • What are the batteries called?

  • CR3032 IIRC the same battery used on motherboards and I guess some watches and stuff.

  • OK, thanks.

  • Dude i got one vmu but how i can turn on it?

  • Its almost 99% likely your battery died. It had a problem where it would drain the battery even with it off.

  • you need batteries and once you have batteries, turn it on with the sleep button.

  • TY I've been to the site before but had no idea what the DC or the VMU was!

  • When the VMU is connected to the Dreamcast, do the batteries need to be inserted into the unit in order for you to use is as a memory card and screen during a Dreamcast game?

  • No it works as a memory card and the screen works when its in the DC without batteries.

  • thanks i just bought one on ebay

  • Dude I did what you said and it totally worked!!! Awesome thanks!!! :D

  • The extra 44 blocks are reserved for internet settings. Unlocking this would break internet connectivity on the Dreamcast. Also, some games don't like having the extra 44 blocks available.

  • Hey...

Can someone help me a little to get this to work?

Well, I've downloaded the program and Dream Explorer and I have them both on my desktop. (I know next to nothing about Windows so bare with me.) What do I do next? In the program, it won't let me open the .RAR file, so can someone tell me how to set it up in the program and burn it to a CD-R?

I would really appreciate the help!

    Thanks very much,

    Tom

  • My VMU won't turn on, is there any way to charge a VMU?

  • You have to change the batteries can't charge it. It takes 3 watch batteries.

  • Where can I find watch batteries? Because I have a watch and I don't think i'm using those.

  • 2 batteries, not 3

  • This question may not be relevant to this video either, but what game does the video's intro music come from? I know the console, but I don't know the game.

  • Sega CD bootup

  • aww you beat me to it

  • But it's so trippy

  • It's from the boot up introduction of the American model II SEGA CD.

  • What cd/dvd burner and blank cd's/dvd's would u recommend? (I'm in america)

  • I feel stupid but.......do i have to buy a cd or dvd burner to burn something?

I have normal disk drives but could I burn things without buying a burner?

  • No you need a burner

  • Thank you.

  • what is that, an ISO ?

  • i got one 1-8 but i cant get it to save games

if any one knows how to reset the things please tell me

  • Just format it with the VMU tool

  • I know this is totally irrelevant to this video, but what keyboard are you using?

  • That was som Benq keyboard I don't have it anymore. Worked good until I accidentally cut the cord on it.

  • I have a memory card for dreamcast that has a switch on the back with the numbers 1 - 4. It's FOUR vmu's in one!

  • cool! whered you get it

  • it came with my dreamcast i got on ebay

  • with gamecube, there memory card had a very limited space to

  • what is the battery life on the vmu

  • 5 minutes. No seriously its horrible. Like one month and they are dead!

  • yeah, but look the size and year made,

no NiCd baterry, but VMU is a inovation, show status of game on controller, and other options in game

  • kool it works man

  • yo man i got disk juggler. do i need to extract files or anything before i burn 2 a disk?

  • yes

disc juggler burns cdi and iso file if they are larger than 700mb you need to use overburn to make it fit in the cd my man

  • oh ok cause ive used like 3 discs for files over 700 and none worked. thanks

  • u know wat pisses me off? i cant download disk juggler!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! kool vid though

  • That is fantastic!

I've got 3 VMU's, so that's an extra 120 blocks right there! Thanks!!!

  • does this work with a normal dc memory card(I have one with no screen)

  • the normal one is w/ the screen but i guess it would work.

  • where the hell do u buy batteries for it ive never seen those kind before

  • try buying at RadioShack cuz i bought on there!

  • I am going to buy a VMU tomorrow although I dont have a DC still a little device though

  • played Sega DC for the first time today the game was Sonic Advanture the VMU showed sonic characthers wich is realy cool!

  • 128 k XD

  • Very nice information on the VMU only thing that bugged me was the non-stop fiddling with the VMU

  • dude, I've seen two of your videos they are awesome

  • wat the fuck? every time i download the deam explorer it won't appear under the disk juggler program as a "disk juggler file" .\_/. help me

  • Open disk juggler and then open the file manually in Disk Juggler. My Disk Juggler screws up sometimes when you open it by clicking the file in explorer but if you go in and do it manually it works.

  • do i can use alcohol 120% to burn the image?

  • nice shenmue music

  • Think like this , this stores 128k. A Atari 2600 cartridge contains 2-4k.

so this could be used as a quite capable gaming system :/

  • that only unlocks 41 blocks. not 44.

  • you are bullshit and your on your period douche bag

  • when i downloaded them it is a rar file. do i have to unzip it before burning it?

  • just get winrar to un rar it.

  • can yo put the link in he Description?

  • love the dreamcast bought mine of ebay arriving soon yes

  • actually the diskjuggler demo shuts down when i open the dream explorer files.can you help me? it may be because ime using a cd-rw

  • dude thanks a lot, you answered all of my questions as i watched the video, this is a great reason to dig up my dreamcast, lol

  • Do you need special disks, Or just a regular CD-RW?

  • Well I use CD-Rs but CD-RWs may also work... not sure. Might depend on the brand as does with CDs and DVDs or any disk for that matter esp on older machines.

  • Thank you very much, I'm getting a Dreamcast soon and your comment and video will help.

  • agreed

  • I finally got a DreamCast and it in fact does not read CD-RWs only regular CD-Rs no complaints though becuase they are alot cheaper.

  • how do you turn on your vmu cause mine doesn't seem to turn on

  • put new batteries in it?? They don't last long!

  • i can't find a game that does not work when the 44 blocks are enabled so i always keep it on lol

  • I love the idea of the VMU i wish companies would use this idea

  • thx much!!! i ran out of space a month ago... ima go try this

  • You should write the website on the videoinfo next time!
