Yeah sometimes the sketch is more vibrant than the final drawing or painting because it shows the marks that went into creating the image, and the thinking of the person who created it. The sketch work itself is really beautiful, like the drawings of the great masters in museums e.g. michelangelo, durer, etc..
I absolutely love looking back on this episode, the classic combination of bringing animals and art together!
