it's not really a boxing movie, it's a character study of a deeply disturbed man who can't handle his inner conflicts and who takes out his frustration on the people around him.
I find it enchanting how this calm music looks against a hardcore and violent background of the movie. Congratulations to Scorsese for winning the Film and Music Award at the Critics' Choice Awards.
This song makes me want to close my eyes, fall asleep and never wake up. This song brings joy to my soul and love to my heart. Raging Bull is arguably one of the best movies out there, but it is not arguable that raging bull proved a point that no other movie could.
Between Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, De Niro is undoubtedly the best actor alive. Pacino makes interesting project choices though, while De Niro is sinking in bullshit these days (New Year's Eve, Little Fockers etc.)
@dodger40oz De Niro's performance wasnt always stunning, but what he did with Scorsese in Taxi Driver and Raging Bull can be compared to Brando's works. I wouldnt dare to say one is better than another, but they both share the top spots.
i still dont know why raging bull lost best picture to ordinary people, who the fuck still watches that junk. raging bull is ranked 4th on afi's top 100 films. ordinary people will not make that list, not even in a million years
i love de niro, i love pacino... but nothing will ever top Nicholson in One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, in my opinion its probably one of the best Lead performances in a film
@1979dimkar Since when was the number of Oscars/Academy Awards a measure of success? The Shawshank Redemption didn't receive any in 1994, and yet it is regarded as one of the greatest films ever to be made.
@audun0905 That's actually called an opinion, not a truth. Nonetheless, I was simply pointing out how number of awards should not be used to gauge how good a movie is.
and for those that don't like my opinion I know De Niro and Pacino are completely different actors from Stallone, Schwarzenegger and Willis since De Niro and Pacino are mostly in gang movies while the other three are mostly in action movies I only included the other 3 actors as my ranking as my favorite actors NOT a comparison
@fuckyou434687 well fucken SORRY I was just giving out my honest opinion but no a bunch of u Youtubers are would just like to butt in and flip out about the other people opinion just cause u guys hate like you have the right tell us not to express it I mean there's a option to comment below the video for a FUCKING Reason
I need help finding a song from the movie! It's played quite early in the movie, about 20-25 minutes in, when Jake is watching Vickie leaving in a car with Salvy (I think) at the entrance where lots of people seem to be brawling? Can anyone help me? I tried to go through the soundtrack list from Amazon using Youtube but so much random stuff keeps coming up in the results, I just can't find it :(
this is absolutely beautiful...i see a beautiful scene where a man and his wife, the love of his life, slowly dance. does anyone know any other pieces of music like this? perhaps you moviesoundtrack?? I would really like to listen to some more of this beautiful melody :)
whenever i hear this song it reminds me of Michael Corleone's pain and agony watching his daughter die and seeing a flashback of all the women he lost and dying alone at the end of The Godfather Part III. Great movie. Great song. Great performacne by Pacino.
Beautiful song, I was listening to this song outside in early spring and the snow was falling so gentle. It seemed even more gentle with this brilliant music playing.
Just got done watching this film, truly masterful in every way. The only way I can describe it is by saying that, for me, only two films, Raging Bull and Bad Lieutenant, produce such a reaction from the viewer. They just go quiet for hours while they take it all in. When I first watched it, I just stayed in my room all day, thinking about it. Unrelenting film work at it's best.
My favourite ever De Niro performance would have to be from The Deer Hunter, but I love him as Jake LaMotta as well. Both are highly emotional movies with great soundtracks.
This is a fine musical score to listen to. It was recently used in the Director's Cut of Watchmen, where Hollis Mason was tragically killed with his own statue given to him by the Mayor of NY in gratitude.
Cool, I still haven't seen that film. I know that original version of "The End Is the Beginning of the End" by the Smashing Pumpkins was used on the trailers though
As an opera buff I love Mascagni's music. As a boxing follower, I believe this was one of the worste movies I have ever seen!
