Love the video, specially when I saw Frank Diaz, I met him when I was 17 years old, one day when I went to work with my mother, he was so sweet, he gave me my fist job at the CINERAMA DOME, where eventually met my husband.I will never forget him.
Wouldn't it be great to see the following headline in giant letters on the front of a newspaper: WAL-MART (or whatever) TORN DOWN TO MAKE WAY FOR BRAND NEW DRIVE-IN THEATER
@DRIVEIN101 I want to see that happen where I am. There's an abandoned supermarket plaza near me that was once a drive-in years before. It certainly deserved to be a drive-in again.
One thing that has been bugging me lately is seeing all the golf courses you see around. Have you noticed that even when they are busy, it's just a few people walking around hitting balls into holes. There were once over 5,00 drive in theaters but very ew remain. Michigan had over 100 now less than 10 last I counted. What the #@%% is it about golf courses where they never seem to go away, but, drive ins become empty fields and Walmarts? I JUST DON'T GET IT! Cool video, Dantiki2. Thanx...
Dan, this is an excellent documentary! What can we do to stop the annihilation of all the great historic architecture in Los Angeles? I seriously doubt whatever is built on that lot will be of any significance!
The Studio Drive In in Culver City was torn down and condos were put up in it's place. Drive In Movie Theaters offered a charm and beauty to the American landscape that is all but gone. There was just something special and exciting whenever you drove past one.
@Dantiki2 Hi. I would like to know if there is a way to contact Frank Diaz owner of Pacific Drive-In Theaters. Because there was a drive-in in Santa Ana in CA called Harbor Blvd Drive-In Theater former site was 3700 McFadden Ave. It was Pacific Theaters 41st location and Orange County's 6th Drive-In. This drive-in was my first exposure to the drive-in theaters. Any video footage or photos of the entire Harbor Blvd Drive-In would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Take Care

@driveinnut61 Apparently Ohio has 30, it's nice that we're holding out down here.
And yeah, you don't really hear of a golf course closing down or nothing. The one near my house has been plugging away for decades.
