  • Gotta love the pelvic thrusting :D

  • Hi john how's it going I'm a big fan of the speedies could you please add me as a friend i sent a friend request thanks a lot man.

  • Some of these cats attended Bronx High School of Science, right?

  • Thumbs up if the Jay Leno photobooth prank brought you here

  • The forced British accent is hilarious...

  • The speeds were Not the shit in NYC at the time. One of a lot a excellent bands playing around. But the speeds def were not a big one.

  • k pedo0

  • great song but the video is really bad

  • That drummer has a good selection of toms.

  • Like if you came from Jay Leno Photo Booth Prank

  • damn this sucks

  • Lol *thrusting

  • Only becous i love Gregory Crewdson as o photographer!!

  • @fujiz Which member is Greg? He shot a photo in my hometown and he had the whole street shut down for it. I was there on set watching, he is a pretty great photographer.

  • The fab faux British accent only adds to this perfect pop punk little num-bah! Saw these boys at Max's regularly and for one brief shining moment they really were THE NEXT BIG THING!

  • @iohal

were they tight live? I'd love to get this on vinyl.

  • In some of the shots you can see the Twin Towers. Or at least where they USED to be.

  • Speedies are great!!! Thanks for the awesome video!

  • I don't wanna see no camera phone or I might just let off a static charge

  • My band played on the bill with these guys a few times, way back when. Really nice guys, we got on great! Eric the guitarist, and I were a "mutual admiration society" hehehe And I have to say the songs hold up very well!!! "Time" still sounds great too..

  • I just got a email from my school that this guy Gregory Crewdson(the singer) is lecturing on campus. How random.

  • Great tune. Cute singer.

  • yea he in his 60s now

  • @dacritter

So you just had to ruin this and rain on my parade...

  • sorry :[

  • @dacritter 48 years old

  • @bostontwinky hows that possible, hes 17 here dont think so

  • @dacritter he was born 1962

  • @bostontwinky OK THANKS

  • I can't believe Gregory Crewdson is the singer!! Anybody familiar with his incredible photography?

  • Comment removed

  • @redlaurieyellow Nope, Gregory plays guitar. John Marino is the singer.

  • @WachuMuffin are you sure? the singer really looks like Crewdson...

  • @redlaurieyellow Yup, I checked their bio. Also my dad is friends with Eric Hoffert.

  • @WachuMuffin Thank you for clearing that up! Greg played guitar and I sang for the band !

  • @WachuMuffin Thanks for clearing that up Greg played guitar and I was the singer!

  • @jrminvegas1 John? Is that YOU? Carter is still alive.

  • @gr8nest Yup it's me, I'm sorry but I forgot your real name, You have to be a close friend if you remember Carter.

I haven't seen Carter since the reunion back in brooklyn .. !!

  • @jrminvegas1 Are you on Facebook? Check me out there: Rex Renato.

    You were so CUTE!!!

  • It is very good song!

I love this song very much!!

I want to take her photo!

  • love it

  • It's too sad they never recorded a full LP at this time. Surely one of the best youngest powerpop/punk band from east coast. fresh

  • Did anyone else notice how inferior the mixes on the Radio Heartbeat reissue are to the original versions found on the singles? I was really disappointed by that. In many cases the songs on the reissue have been remixed by what sounds like someone who had never heard the originals or had any appreciation for how the originals sounded. I was super bummed. I'd be curious to hear from someone in the band about this. It was especially noticeable on You Need Pop and Let Me Take Your Foto

  • I saw them a few times, One time opening for the jam at the palladium. Folks would always throw cereal at them.

  • @varlaluna I saw them at the Palladium also. Great show. Lots of fun and lots of great songs.

  • hello hip action 0.05

  • Love the longhorn bass...miss this dancing music;

  • Wow, all the hate mail people are getting because of this video is truly amazing! Anarchy is alive and well....

  • I love real hardcore like this - the bad brains and black flag ripped these guys off so bad! I read an interview with H.R. who said he owes everything to this band, and Rollins said "the Speedies are the craziest hardcore gods of the world", so that should please you "copiamos". You silly clown. :)

  • the fact that you think Bad Brains and BF ripped THESE guys off shows clearly you know NOTHING OF NYC PUNK/HARDCORE/R&R>

you just played yourself. go away now.

  • powerpop is amazing

  • THIS is hardcore! nothing else is...

  • Gregory Crewdson the photographer was in the Speedies!?

    I love it!

  • If you don't know what powerpop is you have no business commenting on this video.

Hardcore was just getting started in 1979. There were plenty of other styles of punk/new wave that were popular at the time.

  • Fuck you, too.

  • i gotta agree w/you about "power pop." i mean, wtf?!

  • Comment removed

  • Which one is Crewdson?

  • He one with the banana in his butt...

  • ahhh i cant get this song on frostwire or limewire im sooo mad i want it sooo bad :(

  • Buy it on Ebay....

  • Hey did you ever find it?? Cause now I need it!

I cant find it. I need it for a movie im making =(

  • Buy it on Ebay, cheapskate!

  • I don't have the space on my credit card piss face and I only need it for one stupid little project. Why do you care so much that you need to waste your time on responding and my time for reading the response. Get a life or come up with something to say that actually deserves my response. This is just a free bee. Im feeling generous today. Blah blah blah poop on u!

Ya im harsh like that, lol

  • Wow! You wrote a lot and said very little. Such class too. I was going to buy it for you, and send it to you. Since you are so uptight, I will now do someone else the favor.

  • Oh gee what ever shall I do? I am just heart broken. How will I ever go on? (That was me being sarcastic its hard to tell through typing.) Anyway where was I?... Oh ya, Just out of curiosity, are your parents siblings? I certainly hope you are sterile.

  • A person has a kind heart and gets treated how you feel about yourself...what a shame. Maybe one day you will find happiness?? Until then, go...well, I am sure you know what to do, as no one else would want to help you. Cheers

  • whats your email address

  • u know it bruuuther.....

  • Cunt.

  • i was having a nice day today, and then when I checked my email i saw this hate mail. This was from a month ago, so I have no idea why you would waste my time so I would respond to this silly remark. It's called freedom of speech, so deal with my opinion.

  • Crewdson said that this song was not tied into his interest in photography at all...it was just a song! NOW look!

  • GREAT video. GREAT memories. I still own a 45 of "Let Me Take Your Photo? I freaked out my husband ,one day a couple of years back, when out of the blue I heard the song on the tv commercial. I used to see them in a club near 57th st. For some reason the name escapes me. Anyone remember? I was under 18 at the time. My friends and I would say that we weren't going to drink and the bouncer would let us in. Those were the days. Cathy H, Marlene D, or Tony are you out there? This is Betsy V

  • @betsybooper Hi, the club on 57th street was Trax, I believe. It had a nice hardwood dancefloor and rain lights...the decor was a little more disco-ish than most of the downtown punk clubs were the Speedies usually played...but I can remember there were many Speedies shows at Trax...I was at most of them. Other clubs, just for the memories, were Ritz, Heat, Danceteria, Tier3, Dirt Club, let's not forget the Palldium or Club 57(Irvington Plaza)...

  • @MrSkateBeach and of course Max's( where I met David Bowie at a Speedie show) and CB's, and some outliers...in Boston, Washington or Philly...there was one in Allentown PA that totally rocked. Did I miss any? I can't recall the name of the small place on 72nd where I met Carlos Alomar at a Speedie's show(Bowie's guitarist). If you know these then contact me...this is Josh, and I was probably there when you were.

  • ВО времена то были епт

  • bassist looks like andy samberg from snl

  • Thank you very much for posting the Speedies!! I saw the Speedies in the Paladium in 1979 or 80. They opened for the either the Ramones or the Jam. My friend and I were watching the Speedies from the first floor. During the show, we were suddenly showered with Cheerios from fans in the upper level seats. It was a blast. Great band and great time!

  • Anyone know what year they came to Toronto and played Edgertons? I got some photos of a wild Honeycomb fight. I happened to notice the band had a box of the cereal in their gear so we ran across the street and grabbed our own box and waited. When the band pulled theirs out so did we. In some of the shots you can see them bouncing of the guitars. After the show the tiny stage was covered with two boxes of beer soaked cereal and they were the back up band! Great times, thanks guys.

  • zomg Gregory Crewdson :)

  • Gregory Crewdson is the one in the cow shirt, pretty funny he became one of the biggest names in contemporary photography.

  • Ever read The Fortress of Solitude by Jonathan Lethem? There's a passage in the book where the protagonist goes to a Speedies show in the late 70's or early 80s at CBs. Thought that was pretty funny/cool.

  • How about an all ages show at Prospect Park bandshell, my kids want to see you guys

  • hahahahahah

  • rock on eric!!!greetings fr. ARUBA....

  • saw these guys live back in the early 80's. what a show! the bass player in the band i was in at the time when to school at bronx science with one of them. thanx for the memories =|;-)

  • Doing a presentation on Gregory Crewdson at uni (GO APCP). Lurv his photos. Your right eelaws they're imense likes. Never knew he was in a band though till now. I salute you Wikipedia.

    *Salute*

  • same im stuying him at college atm cool stuff eh?

  • I know the lead singer, he's my friend's uncle.

  • Very neat! It's great to see these clips from lesser-known powerpop bands coming out of people's dusty closets! Like the lead break!

  • and the famous photographer Gregory Crewdson I heard was a member of the band. His photographs are truly outstanding. Great music by the way.

  • He is a genius. I think he's the guy on the far right, in the dark jacket. Specifically, in the background at 2:34. :)

I'd post a link to a current pic of Crewdson but it won't let me.

  • Yes the one in the background, on the right with the dark jacket, is Gregory.

  • Hey if anyone is interested these guys are playing in NYC in March, respond to this if you want more info.

  • I want more info!

  • send me info

  • this is fun! new wave, at all levels, was so exciting

  • Ah, the Nostalgia of it all...a friend of mine told me this vid had been posted - we used to go see the Speedies a lot - boxes of breakfast cereal in hand...fun band, fun times...

  • a couple of things for you guys this morning

    #1 thi--

#2 it looked like it was cold up there on the proemnade and you boys werent dressed warm enough

#3 hahahaha I wonder if I can find some pictures of me from back then too?

    #4 love you

  • wow! i have this song on this ROIR! cassette i have called "singles" did they ever release an album?

  • We have released an album, it's only available on I-tunes at the moment.

  • what city is that in the background?

  • it's called NYC. the boys are doing their best moves on the Brooklyn Hts promenade.

  • Look Closely you'll see the twin towers in the background

  • finally get to see the band, used hear the song on WPIX all the time

  • yes! Jane Hamburger should be introducing this vid!

  • Great, especially the faux Brit accent! Very enjoyable.

  • whats the deal with the bassist? for the second verse and chorus his bass goes to a nromal rickenbacker and he has a jacket on, then it switches back to his other bass and no jacket.

  • Yes in fact you will notice the guitar player jumping around also changes clothes although he uses the same guitar. This was one of the first music videos ever shown on MTV circa 1980 - it was OK to experiment with these wild concepts.

  • It's magic!! But seriously, we did 4 or 5 takes & spliced them together. I changed guitars & clothes a lot. You should see our other video (time) that ended up with 3 different basses!
