  • star trek was ok ... Battlestar Gallactica rulz!

  • Happy 45th anniversary trekkies!!!

  • What a beautiful ship the original ENTERPRISE was: a clean, logical, uncluttered design. Just watching it sail past that planet with lights flashing gives me goose flesh. It's a shame they ruined it in later years by adding all sorts of unnecessary crap!

  • A sort of a more middle aged singer in this version it seems to my ear :D

  • What season? Was this intro used for all the remastered episodes?

  • did you know that the original singer was the fat lady VO in The Haunted mansion?

  • the original still holds up. Someone ought to rework the "Filmation" animated series, the voices are from the original actors, but the show itself could be completely CGI.

  • Wonderfully done. You can really tell this was crafted by a group of people that loved the Original. Almost like something that they could have done 40 yrs ago if Gene had the money and production. Love the remasterd music as well.

  • Star Trek TOS and its Intro; good stuff. This was prophecy, and changed television as the Moon landings took place. The 1970s had so much science fiction, that it was the science fiction decade that set America's new entertainment viewpoint; as we are seeing the stars & galaxies more than ever before.

  • I'm in love with how Kirk (Shatner) speaks the begining. TTwTT

  • @NihkiNeon95

    Yes, it sounds really epic.

  • @volvo145

Yeah , the remasterd tracks are really great. Wonderfully done.

  • Every episode in seasons 2 and 3 has this intro.

  • I bought the season one BluRay of Star Trek just last week. Watching it, everything looks brand new. Looks like I will have too order seasons 2 and 3 soon. I love the remastered shots and the picture looks crisp and clear with vivrant color, ect. I recommend it if you have a bluray or PS3 player. They really did an excellent job. At first I was skeptical, now I'm sold.

  • without doubt the best science fiction series ever something that never looses its appeal & in my opinion never will

  • I h8 that they discontinued it, all becouse it had low ratnigs, although if you look it up on the internet it'll tell you that it was one of the most beloved shows ever, LOL

    This Pwns =D

  • this is epic

  • I bought the whole set! I LOVE THE REMASTERED VERSION!!! It adds more spice to its already known awesomeness.

  • I don't think so.

If a thing is good, leave it alone...

    Why change it?

The image is different, and the music...

  • The music is the same, it's just been remastered so it sounds much better. The images. . .meh. I prefer cheap handmade sfx to cheap digital fx. The new effects look cheaper than the ones they used in TNG over 20 years ago.

  • in the segment a final frontier i ment to say kirks voice is lower than music track gofigure no dvd design ..on discs

  • in the segment space a final fronier you'll hear kirks voice but its lower than the music track

no dvd design on discs to know 1 through 10 returned back to walmart

  • poor volume surround sound kirks voive lower than music track

poor facial color greenish not white

returned my box no dvd design on disc

  • Amazing! I can't wait to get this version! Excitement!

  • Oh my!

  • the cgi on the ship looks like shit

    it could've been better....

  • i thought it was a model

  • Shhh!!

  • yeah

  • They were trying to make it look as much like the original series ship as possible.

  • @Swatyo. You are correct! That's because they used the wrong 3d package, which is only good for video games. Look at the effects in the Star Trek New Voyages series, you can see the difference. Just saying.

  • @Humbertusmarius I think they were going for a cgi retro look. They wanted the graphics clean, but to still look a bit like models. Hence the lower greade 3D package.

  • I always prefer the original classics

  • me too.

  • The CTD logo is at the end

  • Get chills whenever I hear this.

I've only seen about fifteen episodes altogether (both original and remastered) but I have to say, CBS really did a fine job remastering the special effects and the opening theme. The special effects no longer take you out of the experience, but unlike the OTT effects in the remastered Star Wars films, they don't try and 'add more', either. They're just subtle and seamless, as they should be.

  • Exactly. I love the oringials and the remastered are even better. Especially when you see episodes like "the Doomsday Machine" with a lot of action in space

  • Great show.

  • One of the greatest shows ever produced!

  • I wish I could find just the spoken word part-- without the music.

  • Spock is the man.

  • i am about to watch the new film.....i cant wait......hot dog, orange fanta and pop corn...large......!! the smell of the cinema....the lights go down....the trailers!!!!!!!! .....and then i need to peeeee!!!!!! nnnnnnnnnnnnoooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!

  • lol

  • Hold your pee till the end! The pain is worth it!

  • @lumpfish99 - Yeah, but if you sit in the back, you go in

the large cup. I have found pee in large cups before, cleaning

up LOL Im like, what the- ?

  • @Ccrazyfella it could have been me!!!....to be honest I dont think i could do that though....!

  • @lumpfish99 you really didn't miss anything if you went to the bathroom. the Nimoy parts are the best though

  • The new CGI isn't bad, I like how they've kept the Enterprise on an angle like in the old intro and the music sounds a lot sharper now.

This has gotten me even more determined to get the newly re-released Original series DVD box sets now. I have to admit to liking the old 60s effects, they were cute and endearing, but the new CGI does help show just what the Original series might have looked like if today's technology had been around in the 60s.

  • me gusta mas la nueva generacion, sus historias son mas elaboradas.

  • I think it is ST TOR - The Original Remaster not TOS R but still acceptable.

  • I don't know if I'll ever get used to those CGI effects...still one of the greatest shows ever, but...

  • Does anybody know where I can get this intro but without the talking? I need it for a play I'm doing. Thanks!!!

  • re-mastering is so wrong. It is old. It should look old.

  • the woman they hired to sing sounds like she might be a high alto, on the original opening it seemed like the woman that sung was a soprano.

  • Remastered season 1 intro was better.

  • i lovge the original soundtrack, they was silly to change it

  • I don't understand, whats different about it?

  • the whole show was digital revisited and all the dust, scratches, etc were fixed. Next all the music was rescored because the methods today are different. Plus all the original model ships, planets and background are replaced with CG models and including the 60's effects redone or replaced.

  • I know the visual effects were redone, and the music, etc, but I don't notice the difference of the music, etc, that everyone else seems to notice.

  • It's because they went back and used the original score list and putting the music and rescored it in full digital 5.1 so the music is a lot cleaner than it was back in the 60's.

  • Oh, now I see, when playing this video, compared to the original, the sounds are and specific notes are more defined, I like the remastering, I like the original to, which is actually remastered as well, the CGI is the third time TOS has been remastered.

  • no problem

  • Well, almost, I saw some on TV and noticed that they weren't very thorough with cleaning the scratches and hairs.

  • they got the majority of it but there's always those little ones that sometimes just forgot an plus they were on a time crunch to get it done.

  • RIP Alexander Courage (composer of TOS theme) (December 10, 1919 -- May 15, 2008. your music will live forever. Thank you.

  • my intro is a hell of a lot better than this, and i'm not some big company!

  • Yea, but yours in true to the original motion and perspective, theirs is.

  • I was talking about the graphics, not the position of the ship. And anyway, what I was saying was they went from the original cheesy effects to current cheesy effects. They shouldn't have touched it.

  • ok, but still I like the new effects just as much as I like the original, but the updates bring this series into our generation, of high def, and digital technology.

  • I do hate the re-mastering, leave it alone fer cripe sakes. If it aint broke don't fix it.

  • I personally like the new effects, it allows them to bring this series into the new age, now that everything is going digital, this must look awesome on a Plasma or LCD display.

  • my parents are in there 50's and when they saw this they were acting like they were 13 years old and was talking about the technology back then and now it a big difference and it is.

  • yea, my dad grew up watching the original original, and he actually thinks the remastering is not that bad, my dad is almost in his 60s.

  • lol

  • the enterprise moves so much slower...

  • Apalling.

  • This is my favorite version!

  • Maybe they should have corrected Kirk's grammar while they were at it...no more split infinitives!

It's "To Go Boldly" you nincompoop!

  • Split infinitives are bad? When has proper english ever really been beautiful english....lol You never say "It is I" You say "it's me." when someone asks who it is. Besides "to boldly go" is something that marks Startrek as unique. I believe it's a great line. Changes in our language are not always good and there are exceptions to the rules. It used to be a firm rule not to start a start a sentence with "AND" but today it requires a bit more discernment. It's no longer a firm rule.

  • like my redundance with the word start lol

  • To Go Boldly sounds unsayable. The other way fits the mouth better. Besides, it's a classic you twot!

  • I had to login just to note this is the BEST YOUTUBE COMMENT EVER!

  • @RedwoodTheElf Youre missing the point. To go boldly might be correct, but TO BOLDLY GO emphasizes the word boldly. ANd thats what they were trying to push in the opening sequence. Star Trek was done in the dark ages when westerns were the thing. Roddenberry had to constantly compete with that nonsence, and apparently he won. Star Trek is bigger then any western could ever dream of being

  • Not apparently won, obviously won. In addition to feature length movies and multiple television spinoffs, there are entire Star Trek conventions; has there ever been a Dallas convention or a Hopalong Cassidy movie? Think about it; nay, think long and hard about it. Star Trek well exceeds and surpasses the high (admittedly ankle high, I mean look at Jersey Shore) standards set by television. TV was as big as Westerns got, and where are they now? TV Land reruns, where they honestly belong.

  • There was no opera in the first season!!!!!! GRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I think its cool too, neat to toy with an old show hehe

  • cool

  • WHY do people hate this so much? IT'S. AWESOME!!!

  • Indeed.

  • God that was bloody awful! First time I've seen the remastered opening (which BTW has been applied even to early episodes that never used the opera singer originally - btw it's a myth that it was a theremin. It was an opera singer and she in fact only died a year or so ago). Terrible. There was no excuse - none! - for redoing the opening music.

  • why, why they had to mess up the classic intro? PLEASE somebody download the original intro please. This one is so disturbing.

  • The space scenes in the remastered series are all done in CG. Pretty impressive piece of work. It's more easily scene in the episodes themselves.

  • The original effects were better. CGI looks like a computer game. Also, it's spelled "seen" as in "He had seen the movie" and scene in "The scene was incorrectly acted".

  • except for the stupid vocal track it looks exactly the same to me.

  • Who's the soprano singing the theme? Is that the same lady who sang on the Emmy awards?

  • The female vocal in the new version bugs me.

  • I actually like the not-HDTV quality of the films of that era, feels more real actually, but this is good too.

  • i liked it better with the theremin.

  • how it all began... how this great series was created... witht he NCC-1701 Constitution class USS Enterprise
