no it not u dumb hs graduate im a hygienist it require scaling and root planing .after that we put antibiotic and liquid irrigation then we put antiobotic gel on it . deep cleaning it mostly scaling root planing liqiud irrigation wash all the germ out then they put antibiotic gel on there it not easy ppl need to go to a periodontist

@paintballwiz1983 Its a little too late...but it really depends on the dentist and the patient. Sometimes yes and sometimes no depending on your pain tolerance and whether you get it done at a periodontist or regular dentist.

I had a deep clean done once. It was done via laser. It didn't hurt at all, and I wasn't numbed or anything.

If you have type II or more periodontal disease, you may be a candidate for scaling and root planing (which is "deep cleaning") If your dentist or hygenist will not speak in clinical terms, and explain the meaning of the terms, find another dental health care provider. @baikpunyetiub Normal brushing does not address in detail the cleaning of the mouth unlike the dentist winch look inside the mouth for areas that are not reachable by the brush. Deep cleaning in inside your gum pockets not in outside.
