Okay. I've heard two pronounciations of the word now: Mah-shin-ah-mah and Ma-sheen-ah-mah. Which is the "proper one?" Maybe it's a Euro/US thang...

Probably still up for debate. I tend to lean more toward the "ee" way myself, but either way is fine. The word is a portmanteau of "machine" and "cinema"... one of those words has the "i" sounding like "ee" and the other like "ih", so I suppose it doesn't get more ambiguous than that. :)
