@CapitanMerseman You found that out aswell, I mean jesus the developers really did their homework didn't they, the comparsons of some of the locations are amazing, still they left it a little vague as to what nation they actually are, they dress like Germans, write in French, they clearly are somewhere in Europe however that doesn't explain the Kanji scattered around and the dead JSDF soldier, they so need to make a sequal, Sora No Woto was too short.
@jackie901 You are right jajaja , they just mixed european things to create an imaginary world: a German uniform, the French language and the Spanish city ( which is so beautiful, I am from Cuenca xD, )
@CoboltCobra In this instance I was aiming for an image of someone making a proclamation, rather than necessarily reflecting what she was specifically talking about. This AMV is intended to subvert SnW, turning a show about peace and community into a jingoistic war hymn!
amazing AMV. Love this show. All kinds of hidden gems for history buffs. Anything that can manage to reference the war between the Helvetii (Helvetia) and Rome in 58 BCE while simultaneously referencing the WWII Battle of Stalingrad gets props in my book.
Also, Sergeants/Officers often take on parent-like roles with their young new troops. I think this show captures that.
I'd like to put the song in Japanese subtitles and post on Nico Nico. Or provide a translation so it can be posted.
kids war anime mmm my type :) but give those fuck heads some snipers (salutes with his m110 semi automatic sniper on his back) SEE ya on the battlefront comrades
@ShadowVampireDragon It's set in a country in Europe or similar, the main cast carry Mauser rifles and Mauser C96 handguns, have at least one MP40 and MG42 and amusingly appear to wear German helmets (not saying the shows set in Germany given that they speak japanese and have French writings lol), the Roman army carry M1 Garand rifles and the only named Roman character carried an M1911, strangely though in a flashback one dead soldier carried a Howa Type 89, maybe the technology went backwards.
@ultrajd It's certainly got an ironic charatcer, what with the show being mostly Cute Girls Doing Cute Things in the finest traditions of moe, but set here to a jingoistic warmongering theme. It's fun to see how things only need a little twist of perspective to change their character entirely.
@kapparomeo Yeah indeed it is I really liked this show I thought it was cute and the characters are all likable and they really dont give off that "Soldier vibe". I just with the show was longer but oh well.
Hey maybe you could do this again but with both seasons of Strike Witches. (Unless you havent seen that show.)
@Kugluck In a way, but I don't think that it reveals anything crucial - seeing the Roman girl shot doesn't reveal her ultimate role in the story, for instance.
@julian671 It depends on the source - the syllables are meant to spell the words "Sora No Woto", but different versions of the title show individual titles or bring the words together.
wait wait who are they fighting?

You know, its almost scary how a cutesy show with pacifistic tones easily turns militant with an audio swap.
Brilliantly made video.

Its good day to die
when you know the reasons why
citizens we fight for what is right
a noble sacrifice
when duty calls we pay the price
for the federation i will give my life

That's quite good. The video segments are well-timed and well-themed to the lyrics and music.
