I want to know about that white lady that cried for her son when she said, "Don't touch my kids!"...did she escaped out of there? What is her name? Thanks in advance.
@Greatersend The woman's name is Bonnie Simon. Her husband, Alvin, was attempting to leave with their 3 children. He changed his mind and decided to stay. All five - Bonnie, Alvin, and their children died at Jonestown.
the reporter killed those people...he gave the notes to jim jones that said here look poeople are trying to escape...wich enraged him....case closed!!!
@arlichar11 This subject deserves much deeper study. How else did you really expect anyone to get out of Jonestown without going through Jim Jones. The reports may have exasserbated the situation but deeper study will reveal that it was an inevitable conclusion. Jim Jones was mentally imbalanced and drug addicted and also in absolute power. Sadly it was a foregone conclusion.
It's wierd, when you watch this, it feels almost like some movie. Then you realize that these things actually happen. It's very sad, especially the people who where gunned down while trying to leave.
Wow. In all the years I've known about this tragedy and watched what feels like countless documentaries, I've never seen the "before" footage of Jim Jones being confronted with those notes and people losing it as their world was falling apart. This was really intense. Beyond heartbreaking and frightening. Thank you for posting.
The saddest thing is that all of the folks on the video seemed happy and they wanted to live.
I think since he had the power to create, "The Peoples Temple", he also had the power to destroy. His world was falling apart 'cause he knew that if the ex-members got back to the states, they were going to tell what was going on.
It was the reason they went to Gyana. He didn't want to move anymore & got them conditioned to the sucide drills. They didn't know it was real until the very end.
