Australia is not in drought, 2009 eastern states and south western Australian the drought has broken and we have just gone through one of the coldest winter in decades. One of the best snow seasons ever!
Just would like to point out, these videos are made buy people that want to push the man made climate change theory for there own personal financial gain!
I live right there where that was filmed. Much rice is grown in sandy type soils with high drainage and water loss, so yes this can be said to be a poor place to grow rice. But if not here, where? Do we 'eat' imports? Sorry but the artisian water table IS in fact building up pressure again, sure its not what it was but since the capping of bores campaign several years ago it looks like this may well be sustanable. I hope you understand more than you let on guys....
Our company offers an Atmospheric Water Generator here in Florida and US (Can make Thousands of gallons a day, or just 8 gallons for Home use.)
We use a Vertical Axis Wind Turbine to power it day/night, and we offer this also as a "Hurricane Package" in case power is knocked out, and the city declares the water unsafe.
We are also in production of a Solar Panel Model for those that love Solar! Can also be connected to Electric Power Grid. If anyone would like more information, please message me.
How about leaving some water for the environment????? Take a look at where this river system meets the sea and see what is happening down here at Goolwa South Australia, and the towns further up the system... You greedy bastards
Look at Goolwa right now.... we do not have any water here in the Riverina either, NO water NO rice (at all). Its not that its being 'taken' from you...there simply ISNT any....
The Government has put in place a Jet spraying Programe of which aids the Australian Drought by creating a Higher Pressure Zone from High Altitude Planes. Its all about Creating Trillions of Dollars through this Co2 carbon Buy back Scheme. Check out CHEMTRAILS via You tube. Plans are to buy out Australian Farmers for pittens & posssibly re selling the land when Global Spraying ceases! Population control is also running rampent via the minds of World Governments!I have videos showing jet spraying
I'm from Aus and yes, a lot of these farmers grow foolish crops. Drought isn't a new thing in Aus, we have cycles. They really should know better than to just grow whatever they want then complain when it doesn't work.
Ten Paradoxes! In the driest country, water is free. Australians pay 1000 fold for it bottled. They rush to desalinize, 5x more energy than recycling. Except for Perth, groundwater reserves are not investigated. Under driest areas lies Great Artesian Basin. Australia exports mega-tons of water in wine, milk, meat. Farmers still slop on water wastefully. Farmers in irrigated areas don't like rain. Too much water causes salinity. Australians still value right to irrigate more than healthy land.
Well you're a stupid person aren't you. What do you mean drought is not the issue, drought is a major issue. Sure whaling may be an issue, but when it comes to whaling and the drought, the drought is far more important. I would like to see our water supplies secured before they start doing things about whaling.
Capitalism seeks to control all the capital. Now who is at the top of this pyramid scheme of taxation without representation? We send money up to rent the land, the water and all the equipment. What comes down the pyramid? Lies and empty promises of a brighter future. I'm getting older and it's gotten steadily worse.
I agree! Enough having these SOB's manipulate the world. The world needs a success story, and it hasn't had one since I don't know when. Too many Americans have been conditioned to be afraid of their own shadow. SO DEVELOP THOSE VEHICLES AUSTRALIA, WE ARE BEHIND YOU. It's not enough to be innovative, it will take a tough people...and tough you all are!!!
If there is a food shortage you can kiss the demand for wine goodbye. Stick with the food, it will be worth a hell of a lot more WHEN this crisis hits. You Aussie's should invest/help the inventors of the Compressed Air Vehicle and Hydrogen Vehicles. Help these guys put an end to this oil manipulation BS. Stanley Meyer (hydrogen vehicle inventor) was taken out here in the US. So don't sell it, trust no one big, protect it, but make it a priority. The world will be pulling for you. PS: Rat(s)
H.A.R.P. device is controlling the weather, there is someone pulling some stings which is creating this devastation through out the world. Gas prices, houses foreclosure, erratic weather ect. It seems someone is trying to create revelation, the end of the world, so they can introduce the Antichrist and try to save us all into submission. I smeel a rat.
Abandon rice farm for grape is immoral?! Unless water is dirt cheap, growing rice doesn't make economic sense in Australia; rice takes much more water to grow then grape but selling at a much lower price. Why no one complains when Chinese build cities; Vietnameses plant coffee; or Malaysians grow palm for oil?
This is the endemic contradiction of capitalism, this was bound to occur. People, especially local people complain about building cities, or having export crops that were forced on these countries by the IMF to gain export income to pay off debt to the IMF! The real problem is the intrusion of neoliberal capitalism into the developing world to fed the mouths of the rich and starve their own people, nevermind the agricultural subsidies in the developed countries. Ergo, you are wrong.
People need more than food to survive and economy need foreign cash to stay afloat. Simply blaming on IMF or capitalism does not solve anything. Beside, the rising price is the most effective incentives to grow more food. Why farmers had to have low pay when you can enjoy a/c and computer and freedom of occupation and speech? If you manually control food price, more farmers will walk out to other jobs and the cycle continue until you let food price to rise even more sharply.
those rice growing cunts don't deserve any sympathy

In the northwestern Australia, we have huge tides, up to 12m
huge evaporation and huge dry rivers and lakes.
Evaporation is up to 4m per year and can be increased.
Huge 12m tidal erosion can revive old dry paleo dormant once mighty rivers, creeks and lakes,
desalinate the country and change deserts to rain forests to provide more rain across Australia.
World population is growing rapidly and we need more water, food, energy and land.

Not really the best country for growing rice really is it.

AJL3099, I agree. I think it's a joke growing rice on the driest inhabited continent on earth, aka Australia.

The artisian basin is being used faster than it is being replaced already. People have to bore 10 times deeper than they used to is some places.
Free water? Where?
Kind of a dumb comment.

High gas price hit first the rice price while rice is eaten by half of the world population in daily bases.
