i was so scared when this happened because like 3 weeks after the bridge collapse i had to go to Minneapolis for a concert at the Target Center and the first thing that came to my mind was that Hilary Duff was going to cancell becuase of it. I feel so sorry for all those loved ones that died. And when it collapsed i knew it was by the Metrodome and when i went to the concert i saw the sign that said Metrodome and i got scared! During its building phase and upon its completion, it would be inspected numerous times. Here back home, our bridges are not taken care of properly. as near as i can tell all lanes were open on one side of the bridge (east) and two or only one open the other side (west). also if they were removing the old surface on the same "one lane" (west) side, how many tons would have been removed?... this would have been a MAJOR contribution to its colapse as all the weight would have been on one side. well at least that's what it looks like to me. -

It creeped me out too, since I have family members who were in Minneapolis at the time and we didn't know if they took the bridge or not until we called them to make sure they were safe and alright.

I'm so happy they are safe, and none of my friends or family were on the bridge at the time.
