I feel like this and I thought it was just ADHD. I was just released from a state mental hospital and was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder and BPD.
I even talked to my psychiatrist about treatin my ADHD before I left and she did not. I always thought this was considered ADHD.
Kinda funny if you think about it, since no one ever evaluated me.

A bit of anecdotal evidence though, last time i was psychotic I abstained from masturbating, and was subsequently hospitalized and forceably treated with anti-psychotics.
Could be that the change in dopamine caused a change in sexual behaviour, or vice versa. I had the idea at the time the abstinece might stop the swings from depression to psychosis, but the forced medication scuppered that idea.
Anyway, since sexual behaviour obviously plays a role in the reward/punishment dopaminergic system (a pretty central role i guess since our brains are designed to keep us alive long enough to reproduce), you can`t dismiss it...erm...out of hand.
Abstinance could cause dopamine levels to rise causing positive/psychotic symptoms. You feel bad after masturbation? Low dopamine thats why.
`Course this theory doesn`t preclude other sexual behaviour, since it`s orgasm that releases the prolactin, regardless of how you got there? Plus a `mastubation causes madness` theory dissolves in the face of the fact that most people masturbate, and few people are schizophrenic.
Actually you could make a case for masturbation (or sexual activity in general) playing a part in some of the symptoms in Schizophrenia. Psychosis is accompanied by high levels of dopamine in the brain, anti-psychotics work by reducing dopamine in the brain (or the brains receptivness to dopamine).
Orgasm releases prolactin which lowers the amount of dopamine in the brain, which i would guess makes the negative symptoms (ie depression) worse.
schizophrenia is caused by chemical imbalances in the brain, mainly in the dopaminergic system. The common symptoms are hallucinations, delusions, disorganized thoughts and disorganized behaviour. None of these symptoms can be attributed to masturbation. Nor is there a large envrionmental factor in the developmental of schizophrenia. It's largely genetic and there's a major biological component. Could you provide me with a link to a peer-reviewed scientific article that supports your beliefs?

I think we should monitor these people to make sure they are safe. Hide microscopic cameras everywhere they go. In their homes and the grocery stores where they shop, and in the eyes of the people who are in the stores with them. It also might help to put tracking devices under their skin. Offering verbal encouragement is also good. We should offer verbal encouragement by implanting speakers in their ears that will offer whispers of encouragement.

actually head injuries dont cause schizophrenia, it is a genetic predisposition to the disorder. stress and environmental factors only activate the disorder that the person is already prone to. drug can only cause some of the symptoms that schizophrenia shows such as delusions and hallucinations, they cannot create the schizophrenic disorder within a person.
ok, schizophrenia develops as a result of interplay between biological predisposition (for example, inheriting certain genes) and the kind of environment a person is exposed to. Things such as stress as a child, head injuries, social isolation, and drug use can cause schizophrenia, not masterbation, i want to know where you have even heard of that.

I don't know about you but I don't wander around town feeding pigeons--I've done the research wandering around town feeding pigeons is not a symptom of schizophrenia. I feel like this and I thought it was just ADHD. I was just released from a state mental hospital and was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder and BPD.
I even talked to my psychiatrist about treatin my ADHD before I left and she did not. I always thought this was considered ADHD.
Kinda funny if you think about it, since no one ever evaluated me.

this is what it's like to be dilusional...this is like deja vu...some things are magnified, but most things are bland, numbed. am i in a dream or not? even right now i'm having difficulty distinguishing the two. in my case i wanted to draw blood to see if people were real. i never did but that urge was strong. i feel like i should've been hospitalized to keep from hurting anyone else, but they were like 'take these drugs and see me next week'. wtf? this is beautifully done.

A bit of anecdotal evidence though, last time i was psychotic I abstained from masturbating, and was subsequently hospitalized and forceably treated with anti-psychotics.
Could be that the change in dopamine caused a change in sexual behaviour, or vice versa. I had the idea at the time the abstinece might stop the swings from depression to psychosis, but the forced medication scuppered that idea.

Abstinance could cause dopamine levels to rise causing positive/psychotic symptoms. You feel bad after masturbation? Low dopamine thats why.
`Course this theory doesn`t preclude other sexual behaviour, since it`s orgasm that releases the prolactin, regardless of how you got there? Plus a `mastubation causes madness` theory dissolves in the face of the fact that most people masturbate, and few people are schizophrenic.

Actually you could make a case for masturbation (or sexual activity in general) playing a part in some of the symptoms in Schizophrenia. Psychosis is accompanied by high levels of dopamine in the brain, anti-psychotics work by reducing dopamine in the brain (or the brains receptivness to dopamine).
Orgasm releases prolactin which lowers the amount of dopamine in the brain, which i would guess makes the negative symptoms (ie depression) worse.

schizophrenia is caused by chemical imbalances in the brain, mainly in the dopaminergic system. The common symptoms are hallucinations, delusions, disorganized thoughts and disorganized behaviour. None of these symptoms can be attributed to masturbation. Nor is there a large envrionmental factor in the developmental of schizophrenia. It's largely genetic and there's a major biological component. Could you provide me with a link to a peer-reviewed scientific article that supports your beliefs?

I think we should monitor these people to make sure they are safe. Hide microscopic cameras everywhere they go. In their homes and the grocery stores where they shop, and in the eyes of the people who are in the stores with them. It also might help to put tracking devices under their skin. Offering verbal encouragement is also good. We should offer verbal encouragement by implanting speakers in their ears that will offer whispers of encouragement.

I Also went on vitiman B12 and found some answers in the bible to help it, now I hardly if ever hear anything and I can go out into pulic more without feeling so fricking scared.

actually head injuries dont cause schizophrenia, it is a genetic predisposition to the disorder. stress and environmental factors only activate the disorder that the person is already prone to. drug can only cause some of the symptoms that schizophrenia shows such as delusions and hallucinations, they cannot create the schizophrenic disorder within a person.

ive known 3 people with it in my short life so I believe it.ive known more with bi-polar and thought/personality disorders.many you wont see because they stay home & hide or r in a clinic.sometimes symptoms are drug induced so if a suceptible person never tries a 'catalyst' (ie pot,crack) they may never have an initial episode when otherwise they may have. ditto for trauma, acts like a catalyst.

Label each case of schizophrenia as you will. But don't tell others, especially those whose views of reality are already perverted, what is or is not moral, spiritual, or weird. Those who carry the baggage of mental illness are also those who have left the greatest marks on history and society. Look back at how many authors, scientists, artists, and leaders suffered and died from this and similar disorders. The abstract, their "handicaps", is what these people molded into our realities.

That sounds like disorganized schizophrenia. If you have actually been diagnosed as a schizophrenic then your schizophrenia was probably a defense mechanism of a sort, perhaps after surviving something traumatic. We see that in many cases where the schizophrenia manifests itself in an almost positive way. But I wouldn't go so far as to say that it is yet evidence of something extraordinary in a positive sense.

As someone who schizophrenic I find this portrayal of schizophrenia ridiculous. I don't know about you but I don't wander around town feeding pigeons--I've done the research wandering around town feeding pigeons is not a symptom of schizophrenia. Schizophrenia vary widely from one person to another. In some people, the dissociated feelings caused by the illness are a constant part of life. In others, the symptoms will come and go.
This clip is my artisic expression as the Director / FIlmmaker and of my Personal experience watching my Mother and her Schizophrenia illness.

PCJoe, try taking so many meds you sleep 18 hours a day and gain 60 pounds despite going to the gym 5 times a week.
