Anyone know what strings would be best for this style? I'm using elixir lights right now on my taylor, but the sound is really thin, which I guess is expected. Would a medium or heavy gauge elixir be better for slapping/tapping guitar?
Don't want to piss on your parade ArkAngelHFB but before you have a go at ANYONE about thinking before typing maybe you should learn to spell before typing.
@MrGetalife23 I'm positivelly a girl so you cant judge me gay at all. and no. with his skill at least he can only put an expression on his face and if you deny that, it's means you dont belive he can do that. and everyone have their own taste in music, maybe you fell for him but you cant put any junk comment and say people gay or dump, you dont even know me!
Miyavi... LOL ! Another japanese "musician"/"band" who could only steal stuff from somewhere else (like... Justin King) and make it soulless. Imho you should listen to music with your ears, not with your eyes... Music is not about the looks, man.
you sir... are a shit head... amoung other things...
You do play... and you don't think before typing. You have nither he talent to do something like this, nore the common decency to look to the right and see that he has too highly successful mainstream song.
Since yuo type before thinking and can not put together a good agument for what you type... that makes you the faggot, not Justin.
Good lord this guy is amazing. I agree with the others who said it, the audience should've been quieter, although they may have been amplified from the recording device being placed near the back of the room or something.
In that case, My apologies. However, I am not the only one to have taken it that way. Suppose it was cause your comment had nothing to say about King. Plus I don't need to reread THEN listen because all it took was for you to REVISE and REFINE your comment. Maybe now you won't receive negative marks on your comment.
Your apology is accepted. But, ya know, I re-read my post several times and I simply fail to understand how it could be misinterpreted.
In any event, please understand I admire Justin King's work. And I detest audiences that treat genuine art like aural wallpaper: Something to provide noise to augment their babbling. Kapeesh?
Communication is, at the best of times difficult, and even more so in forums such as this.
Excellent point. I mean, because now we all no what to think because you gave us an example of "special" talent or gift. Oh thats right, you didn't. Problem is, I'm never drunk, a moron, nor stupid. Perhaps you should define special for me. Listen to his recording; not this live audio.
Criticism derived from jealousy.
Were you in a band that "should have been" but, never made it? Not your psychiatrist, don't care; get over yourself.
It's not about the notes, it's about the patterns, and when you can see those it's just a matter of practice. Justin is an amazing guitar player and his music is flashy but the stuff he plays is definitely reachable by us.
This is my absolute favorite video of JK, mostly because of the powerful, bassy, FAT tone he gets out of that 714-CE. I have spent years and thousands of dollars trying to come close to that tone.
hey im not like trying to be one of those jerk that r like 'fuck u hes awesome' but like i love music and stuff and im in a band and im just wondering y u say thats crummy music

You must not listen to the radio or watch tv or go to bars for that matter... You can hear music far worse than that at any given moment at any time... its amazing and melodic and percussive...
It just makes me think of the irish, lol :D (well celtics really). This song is difficult to play and kudos to him playing it, but it's not my favourite JK song, he can do a lot better trust me ;) His Le Bleu album is great :D
Simply amazing as usual. This is probably the best Celtic Square Dance vid on youtube now. I've said it before and I'll say it again...I WANT THAT GUITAR. hahaha
I know a lot of classic songs that don't have a "good" (whatever that means) melody to them. I think of melody as an ingredient of music; not really more or less important that the other pieces. Just is along with the whole.

He doesn't really play the guitar so much as he bends it over a table and makes it his bitch.

i have a taylor 615ce and yes, its pretty hard to get it out of tune unless you have on old strings. :-)
myguitarstyle 4 years ago
No it doesnt go out of tune that bad, I've played this on several guitars and it doesnt, and obviously not with his strings.
Ahlm4 4 years ago
True, the tuning isn't really an issue on most guitars. However, Taylor guitars are extraordinary for staying in tune as I have come to notice.
Vaughanabe13 4 years ago
Lucky bastard :P
DrDread 4 years ago
his guitar must have an IMMENSE ability to stay in tune to do that, if I tried that on my Takamine I swear it would go out by the end of the song!!!

you can accredit that to the fact that he uses Taylors! gotta love em', great live instruments!

Well... thats cool, takes a lot of talent, deticatoin and pratice... but it just doesn't have a good melody to it.

it's different with him because he's solo, but if like a heavy rock band or rap didn't have melody, than it would just be noise...

his right is the melody and his left is the harmonics.
