I raised one from about 3wks of age. We named him Chopper. He was the sweetest thing. Loved to be scratched around the side of his neck and under his chin. LOL However, we released him when it was time and he came back often but then when on. I do miss him alot.

I found a Squirrel-rabit(Squibit is what I call it) out in front of my parents place. It has distinguished rabbit shaped feet, rounded but squirrel like ears. Its black, has a slightly shorter tail then the other squirrels. Its black, it has normal squirrel eyes, and the tail is white tipped.

The newspaper gave the street name of his residence and we found his house by the name on the mailbox. We knocked on his door and informed his mother we'd like to speak to the guy who burned a kitten to death. He had a bad habit of peeing on my left shoulder. He'd be all the way across the room, get a funny look on his face, race spiralling up me like a tree and piss a couple drops of pee on my shoulder and blast off before I knew what was happening. Definately keeps you on your toes. They definately are loving little things before their testosterone level takes over though. They will always go wild eventually. Until he left for good he would go in and out on his own.

I had a pet baby red squirrel. Started out with 3. Their mother got hit by a car and they came down the tree starving and loaded with fleas. I deflead them by hand and fed them but the 2 females didn't make it. The little guy thrived. He was the most loving little thing. One day once he started reaching maturity he took off up into the pine row. He had squirrel things to do I guess. Seen him here and there but he never came back in the house.

Very cute squirrel. I have a friend who's in construction that had the same situation. Guess what he named him? Chip, of course. He used to ride around on his shoulder while my friend walked around. I have a big squirrel that loves to come to the patio window to taunt my cat. It's pretty hilarious. I leave some nuts outside for him from time to time.

I have raised a couple that fell out of their nest from before their eyes were open. They're such a hoot. They both liked to sprawl out on top of my computer tower while I was using it, and they both would get on the back of my hand and put their jaws between my index and middle fingers for a massage. If something out of the ordinary came around, they'd crawl down under my shirt to hide, then poke their head out until the "danger" passed.

@expectedmeat She may have died. I find dead squirrels in my yard from time to time. My theory is that they fall from high tree limbs while fighting/chasing/being chased by other squirrels and don't survive the impact (I have found them with broken limbs to support this theory), and I have also found them in the street in front of my house, run over I suppose. I usually end up burying them in my back yard, my way of honoring & letting them return nutrients to the trees that once sustained them.

That is awesome! What do you feed it when it was small, and now that it's grown? I'd guess bird seed, but I'm just curious if they need a broader diet than just seed. It's a very interesting pet to have, I'd love to find one but I also have a pretty aggressive cat that I found abandoned so I doubt they would get along at all, heh.
