I saw Brewer and Shipley open for The Eagles in the 70s in California. I believe it may have been The Shrine. I still have their vinyl...I love Rural Space!
they are so special. they sang of the times and the times haven't changed, they just look different. These guys have music that doesn't get old or dated. You just can't get tired of them like some of the junk over the years. I really think no one could put the feeling into their music like they could. We are facing terrible times coming up and they are bringing out the old songs, dusting them off and singing them again. Be afraid when that happens, be very afraid. Keep your eyes open.
yes and know - Stones nailed it with "Far Away Eyes"... but these guys are singing a place that you only really undersatand if you are from the midwest. They're music was really about the generation they knew - one long sinced passed
Still AWESOME!! Thanks for the post. Really folks if ya have never heard the Tarkio Road album, do so. It's one of the few I have that I've been listening to for over 35 years and at least a couple times a month.
11 May 2007: Brewer & Shipley are the quintessential artists whose unique talents introduced America to a different approach to music. The lyrics and the sound this duo brought to the nation through their mesmerizing music is significant. Their songs evoke memories of a time now long ago in our country, and listening to them now is just as moving as it was in 1971. A pleasant and refreshing difference.
I saw Brewer and Shhipley in late April of this year at a very small club in St. Louis. It was like a wonderful step back in time. There music was just as meaninful and emotional that night as it was the first time I saw them in 1972. It sounded as if it was written for today's times. It so great there is a place like youtube to get to see them performing. It is is especially satisfying to know there are others that are so moved by their special songs and talent. One toke for old folks...
