Clean coal is greenwashing at it's best. These plants will still burn coal and release carbon dioxide. Attempts to sequester carbon dioxide would only drive up the cost of coal based electricity. We might as well just invest in solar, geothermal, and wind.

there are exactly 2 clean coal plants in America. They cost a huge amount to build. They scrub out the crap in the smokestack, including the carbon. The 150 new coal plant leases being doled out now are NOT for any new-technology "clean" plants, only the old fashioned kind. Hence the TV commercials. Also it is always bad for the environment to mine coal, especially from the top down instead of in tunnels.
