  • Not really into your music dude but you've got talant right there! effortlessly playing chords and bass keep it up mate.

  • i jsut got an MPK25 midi controller and ableton live...I'm not new to producing but I am new to this hardware and software. I make hip hop and electronic music, and I need to be able to record, loop, and layer kicks, snares, hihats, synths, etc, but I need to be able to fade each instrument in and out as needed, which some people on here seem to think you can't do with this method....do you know how I could do this, or know of any other video tutorials?

    Thanks

  • @mscommanderson34 You'd want to do all your drum stuff using the drum racks. It's really easy to layer sounds in there. Drum racks are also good for synths too.

  • What Synths are you using?

  • @emiliovsqz009 Masive, razor, fm8, absynth.

  • i really like they way you make videos dude! make more tips and tuts!!

  • @RainK9 Thanks!

  • this is choice man big ups! i always wondered about getting back to old loops and changing them

  • @thenoddy7 Sweet, thanks!

  • Can you post the als file so peeps can have a tinker on your template plse?

Great vid as per usual man!

  • @punarnee In the soon future i will

  • Far easier to just record audio and/or midi events into individual tracks and clips - then just use the clips to layer sounds. Not to mention you've got greater control with gain on each instrument, effects, looping, slicing, etc. I've never used the looper yet in a live show because working with clips is so much easier, faster and gives more control.

  • @jsipich78 The idea behind this use of the loopers is to keep everything in one track. I agree that recording into clips is easier, but in a live setting, this looper technique works for me. It's especially useful when you have all your live instruments grouped, and the looper rack on that group. As with all things in Ableton, there's more than one way to do it. :)

  • You know you can make the first loop into a looper- use it to set tempo, for example, then record directly into clips for the rest. Set Live to record for say 4 bars. Then record into a clip, and before it ends click it a second time. At the 4 bar mark it will start playing what you recorded automatically. Live did the long before looper came along. Use looper for the first loop only, then put all the new stuff into clipslots. Try it!

  • @apeasay I used to do it that way, but when you have an instrument rack with all your synth patches, you'd have to route each one to their own audio track to record clips. That's too messy for me. Though, everybody has their own way of working, which is want keeps it interesting. Thanks for the feedback.

  • you save my life

  • @remi2611 sweet!

  • great videos!!! this looper trick just gave life to some many ideas of mine!!! many thanks!!!

  • @BigJBeats sweet!

  • this is good idea - any clues how to remove latency when syncing an external sequencer - trying to layer up various tb303 parts but audio input delay and sequnce loops make it almost useless

  • @dyLAB0303 are you using it in a live setting or just for recording? What is your buffer rate at and what kind of computer are you using?

  • @Killparispaige using it for recording for now - was hoping of using it as a looper for layering live 303 lines over each other - buffer size is 512 on a MBP -
