Just tried this part for the first time ever and YOU DONT NEED TO SHIELD to the knight!

Just make him get his sword then just GO BACK! He will try to chase and fall off! Like this so people can see and get by very easily!

easiest way i found to do that archer part is to get poison arrows and shot them till the poison sticks and sit there till they both die. it may be a bit cheesy but it works and less chance of falling off cause you can hit them from where you fight the two lighting demon things.

@GetTheFunkOut46 You can use an item (Black Separation Crystal) to banish your phantoms if this happens again. If it's any consolation, losing 25k souls is nothing. Might seem like it sucks but I've lost hundreds of thousands and eventually it just rolls off your back. To put it in perspective, 25k souls is one successful co-op at that boss fight.

@Northernlion yeah i finally got past it, after watching this. i noticed you kinda waited at the top of the butress for a second before rolling and for some reason that helped me out alot. got it done, beat the bosses and co-oped with the same guy for about 3 hours. i love this game. and yeah 25000 isnt a whole lot, because you can just farm in that area and make that amount in a matter of minutes.

holy fucking shit. these archers are pissing me off. i dont have poison arrows and going back to firelink shrine at this point would be really tedious. first time, i summoned somebody and they just ran through and got past the archers like a boss, but of course when i get round to the bonfire, i cant rest there....so we go around killing the silver knights for a bit, im hoping hes going to die at some point so i can use the bonfire but guess what, i get fucking invaded, and he kills both of us

the archers have a maximum range. you can exploit that weakness when standing on the platform with the 2 demons and poison them at range :)

Ryan, I think another way to tell if a chest is a mimic is if the chain to the right is curving down, instead of up. I might go to another video to check it.

@sjoerdje2234 It's kind of hard to say for several reasons, there are a lot of ways to approach the game, and it also depends on how quickly you get a feel for the combat and upgrade systems. I would guess though that a really fast first playthough would be something like 40-50 hours...? Correct me if I'm wrong guys. I'm in New Londo Ruins at about 70 now... :P

To Northernlion or anyone that is beginning to play Dark Souls, you can easily identify which is a real chest and which is a mimic chest buy the chain on the right side. If it is STRAIGHT, then it is a mimic chest. If it is CURLED, it is a real chest. Hope this helps.

@VakuzaV47 Yeah it might get confusing but the true chest is a curled chain. The fake one is straight. You can go to the parts of the video where he opens a real chest and fights a mimic chest to see what I mean or just go to the Dark Souls Wiki to read about it.

@VakuzaV47 The face biting... I'm not sure because when I played the first time on Dark Souls, I would always die falling for a mimic chest. That was when my health was in the 750-990 range. I started my second playthrough and haven't tried falling for mimic chest to bite my face off because A) I don't want to die and B) my health is 1036, so I would think I'll die still but I'm not sure.

You can tell if a chest is a Mimic by looking at the chain connected to it.

If the chain is straight it's a Mimic.

The chain on the side of the chest tells whether it's real or not. If the chain is curved around to the front it's a mimic, obviously by rule of elimination if it curves to the back it's real.

@HollowGold1 This advice may be true but I'd never feel safe opening a chest if I didn't attack it first. Beyond that, it's worth attacking them anyway because mimics tend to drop items that are either useful or, at least, worth a lot of souls.

i dont understand the concept of a pvp character. im obviously a retard but i dont really get it. you make a character specifically for annoying other players or defeating players trying to annoy you? is there something specific you have to do in order to make said character build?

@GetTheFunkOut46 Generally speaking, PvE builds are more versatile because you can level up as much as you want. There's a few generally agreed upon (but unofficial) PvP level caps (Soul Level 120 is the biggest) because PvP is sometimes dictated by level proximity. So a lot more playstyles are viable PvE because you can go to SL500 if you want without worrying about whether you'll ever be able to play with another person.

@GetTheFunkOut46 Well, generally speaking (not true for some covenants), invaders invade up, so if you're SL1, you can invade anyone, if you're SL20 you can invade from about SL18 up, et cetera. So invaders tend to stay as low level as possible while still being able to get into the big invasion covenant, which is difficult. For co-op, you have to be within 10% of someone's level to be summoned, so usually you'll co-op for a bit in one area, level up, move on to the next area and so on.

Hey Northernlion! What do you think of the weapon "Scythe"? I made it into a Raw Scythe and it's got something like 256 Damage or something but i'm not too sure if i want to use it any more!

@NarutoAchievements If it works for you then go for it. I encourage you to build a unique build because it adds some variety to the game. If you want to go PvP with this build you probably want to go to Level 120 (unofficial cap for PvP), pump up whatever stat the Scythe scales with as high as it will go, and upgrade it as high as you can.

@Northernlion Great LP so far but I'm curious why are you not using your 2nd weapon slot in your left-hand? It would make life a lot easier if you had the bow in your 2nd left-hand slot and say pyro/miracle/spell catalyst in your 2nd right-hand slot :P.

@Nomega91 Matter of preference I guess. I've never used my second left-hand slot because I'm always cautious and trying to make sure I have some defense. Bow in the left hand slot for drawing aggro and pyro in the right hand slot might be better than the arrangement I have right now.
