@LittleIverson3 No disrespect meant...even though this is nothing like Jimi's...it is inspired by him...so I think he'd be quite happy with this. Besides...I love stickbass! Take care LittleIverson3
@LittleIverson3 awww now...ya know Jimi was cool like that...still is in spirit form! I know & see many young musicians that play this song...it has touched so many...and it goes on and on...have seen it for so many years now ... only his shell is in the grave...IMO our energy goes on...Jimi, his energy, and music lives on in so many people! Take care LittleIverson :)
Real Nice...I was surprised, and enchanted. The timbres together are a breath of fresh air. I am not a fan of that chromatic-cliched chord movement..but the other aspect more than redemed it. Thank you for sharing this.
Ive heard alot of stick players but all hands down this guy tops them, but dont get me wrong im still looking. give honor where it is to do to the mad mad mad stick world.
great mood and quite apropro! more musicians need too turn down a little so maybe w can all hear the music and really enjoy it for all of it's beauty in the entire ensamble, not just in one instrument alone , thanks steve!
Well done Steve.Your laid back loose style makes you my favorite stick player. Great arrangement. Just listened to Bobs acoustick version of little wing. Also great and some amazing colours because of the acoustic sound, but prefer yours.
Hi Ron. Thanks for signing on. Hope all's well. Let me know if you ever need an instructor out your way. My Mel Bay book is coming out in September, so promotion is in order. Thanks and keep in touch
hey steve, I like the arrangement, I like your solo going on around and post minute 4. That's a hot combo you guys have there. The vibes sound great with the guitar.
I'm a wannabe stick player: have nice 12 Rosewood Grand I enjoy every day. And I don't mean to be offensive. But I've an emotional attachment to Little Wing. Some performances move me the way the song should. Some don't. This performance seems to be totally "up and down" instead of an arrow forward. Too many notes, no tension/release between the whimsey and the gravitas. Thin tonality. IMHO, and respectfully submitted, despite that "abysmal"...
I agree. Instrumentally very nice but that's not allways the point. Like you wrote, little dynamics, a little bit like elevator-music, I'm affraid.
Maybe it has to do with the fact that Little Wing was one of the songs that made me start to play guitar 22 years ago. Or maybe it's just a matter of taste.
I'm a really big fan of the new "Adventures in Stickology" CD (play it often), and have no problem with people stretching out on standards, but this is NOT Little Wing, even if the chords match. Abysmal, despite the muscianship. No phrasing, no melodic vector. Little Wing is ALL about the melodic vector.
And yes, I know it doesn't start until the middle of the clip!
Having a bad day? I've played this tune at most gigs and gotten great response to the arrangement. It surprises me that you're a fan of the CD. We take a lot more liberties on some of the standards there. "Abysmal" brought a chuckle here. Thanks for your feedback.

That was some nice playing. I'm not a Little Wing purist (i do distorted heavy blues version myself) but that was just great.
Now i want a stick, time to find one in Australia on a teenagers budget :D

I happen to think the light airy atmosphere of this performance suits the tune quite well. Nice.
