  • I bet every guy who has read his books and familiar with his tendencies are like "I'd do him" and then, "Do... what?"

  • haha!

  • LOVE ALL OF HIS BOOKS!!

  • Anyone else notice that Bret easton ellis's movies are always cursed?

less then zero is the worst adaption ever

the rules of attraction had shitty advertising

people missed the point of american psycho

    zoolander plagrised glamorama

the informers was better then the book but everyone hated it

  • @Dontmakemecomeover5 this is all inaccurate

  • @satuesday Maybe glamorama and informers but the rest are true

  • Basically, all his seven books are revenge attempts against his father.

  • American Psycho is a book I'll just never forget. Fantastic work! He says in the interview he's not that smart, but that book says otherwise. Spot on.

  • @Jabberwockyjefferies It is a great book. Its like Chuck Palahniuk says. With writing a book, there really is no limit as to how far you can go, how disgusting or shocking you can be when writing a book. Doing movies one is restricted on how far they can push that envelope but with books, you can go as far as you want. Its a wonderfully freedom filled medium.

  • Must be nice to be a writer, I'm a killer whale trainer.

  • after reading about his life and watchin interviews with him and studying his behavior and this is just a personal opinion , i think hes a closet psychopath

  • @uivli

Lol looks like it huh? I mean come ON, this is the guy who wrote every word of American Psycho.

  • Love his work. Bret Easton Ellis is on of my all time favourite authors. He writes and doesn't care about the extremes he goes to.

His comments about adding 'Pop culture' to his work at the detest of his teachers in the interview shows a true artist.

  • I met Bret in Portland last summer. Cool guy. Very humble & a big fan of Bruce Springsteen

  • @luckyphilster Jesus, have you read your own post?

  • he speaks and looks like his characters, scary

  • He's the hottest middle age man ever....

  • @TheFashionBre okay, then.

  • He's grown more articulate ever since

  • Why is he sucking on a candy during an interview?

  • I already read American Psycho and Rules of Attraction, just finished reading Less Than Zero. He's my favorite writer right now.

  • @videodromeangel Imperial Bedrooms asap! It's super good. A long awaited sequel to less than Zero. Oddly enough, you have to see the movie Less Than Zero first for Imperial Bedrooms to fully make sense. Super cool move on Ellis's part :)

  • @Narcissiaxx Thanks! Just started "Lunar Park." It's rumored Benicio DelToro will play Bret in the movie version. I thought bad choice at first but then it occured to me it might work considering Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Yeah, I saw Less Thank Zero years ago but only got into the novel recently. They changed everything around in the film, didn't they? Imperial Bedrooms! Definitely on my list too now!

  • schwepsters

  • You know, I don't think I've ever seen an interview with him before. I always pictured him as talking sort of fey, sort of like Andrew McCarthy, very blue-blood . I never would've pictured him in a ball cap and a hoodie. Interesting. He seems a lot cooler than I pictured.

  • I love the pop culture references in Ellis's books. I like that it's "dated", so to speak.

  • @MattDeathStroke My thoughts exactly! If I want to escape to LA in the 1980s, all I have to do is read an Ellis book. :)

  • @MattDeathStroke

Me too. They're time capsules in a sense. A really warped sense.

  • "Less Than Zero" and "The Informers" are amongst two of the greatest books I've ever read - and in retrospect of all time.

  • @JesusCristo2002 read more books. Ellis is less than a footnote in 20th century literature.

  • @mimesis6mime let people read what they want to read.

  • In Europe, just like Houellebecq, he is a legend and also considered the greatest american writer alive.

  • Funny about Ellis... his books are so unusual, but he seems such an ordinary guy. I have a lot respect for him anyway.

  • I saw Bret in london while he was there he was amazing.

  • I love this guy. Keep 'em coming Bret.
