  • Volvo was a ncie car but, it rode too firmly for an American to enjoy.

  • Volvo went too far that time. This ad is just silly.

  • I have owned both volvo, Merc, Lincoln and Cadillac, volvo isnt even close, period.

  • @smirnofowner volvos are boxes on wheels. the best ones. that's it. luxury never has really been their thing. but they're tough. and i don't recall seeing many american cars older than 10 years of age. because in tough conditions like in russia they just die. volvos dont, neither do mercs.

  • @zloychechen5150 i think thie die as a result of no spareparts an lack of maitinance.

i live in sweden and drives a Lincoln Towncar and Volvo 745 as daily drivers, a Camaro z28 convertible and a Cadillac 1961 convertible are my summercruisers. The Volvo does what its supose to do, takes me from A-B dut i rather drive the Lincoln.

  • @smirnofowner nope, spares aren't a problem and they're quite cheap. but still when you see an older american car it's usually rusty and making noises like a sinking airplane.

the problem, i think, is that their fuel consumption doesn't correspond to their price, and the usual car-killing cycle (consecutive ownership by people with smaller and smaller income) goes on faster.I once thought of getting a crown vic, which is really cheap to run(spares), but 20L/100 made me not do it.

  • @zloychechen5150 well, that car must be out of tune. My Lincoln has good milage for its size 9l/100 km highway and 12 in town, its basicly the same car as the crownvic.

  • @smirnofowner dunno) i haven't heard from anyone with a v8 about that sort of mileage. maybe you have petrol of better quality there. or maybe you're a very calm driver)

or maybe you don't get traffic jams, because when you are in a really heavy one, my 744 can have 18l/100km.

  • I actually laughed when they showed the Volvo. Not only is it hideous, next to those cars, but it's just a hideous car, period! The Caddilac Deville looked the best, but the Merc is probably engineered the best.

  • @09feb1992 Volvo will always be superior to American cars - period. When it comes to German cars, now that's a contest... German engineering was always superior. Volvo was always known for their safety and handling however, untill the US bought Volvo and fucked it all up of course. However, that tends to be a trend with the US - Take shit over, and completely ruin it.

  • i like how auto tranys and power searing is a luxury

  • @surredneck66 Power steering and an auto transmission WERE a luxury item. Like power windows, adjustable drivers seat, mirrors you can adjust from inside... The further back you go, the more things were luxury... Air con? Now a standard, about 50 years ago an expensive extra. ABS? 25 years ago an expensive extra, nowadays basically standard...

  • @skrattedieratte i know that is what I mean

  • i would have rather have had the 1975 Cadillac Sedan Devile on the left and the 1975 Lincoln Continental on the right and maybe the benz

  • mercedes 230 without a blink i would take that! but picking out a mercedes w109 300SEL or indeed a w116 450SEL with their air suspension would be more comparable to the americans, since the w114 is a family sedan. but still the merc is superior to all the others. not fond of volvo we had a 245 -86 spacious but mercedes is much better!

  • @coolakiIlen007 Until something goes royally wrong. And parts? Don't even get me started..

  • @Ryoukun16 why? i restored my merc to good usable condition from sitting on a field for no more than the price of an old beat up volvo..

  • @coolakiIlen007 Which an old beat up Volvo could do without having to be restored.

  • @Ryoukun16 yeah but not after 3 years on a field...

  • @coolakiIlen007 w114 chassis is superior to all cars except the w123 early ones before 1984 but i go for the diesels over the gas anytime

  • @aaronpourazar same here! :) ive got an -83 w123 240D! best cars!

  • how small does that merc look next to those big ol yankie beasts

  • i like volvos i got a 240 i like the 164 but its the back of the car on the 164 they could have done a bit more with

  • @TurboVW2004 true

  • The front end of the Volvo was trying to be "classical" - if Volvo had tweaked the styling to make it stand out from the rest of the line, I'm sure it would have been a hit.

  • lol cleverly written commercial

  • I want that Mercedes-Benz W114 230 in because of cheap executive car

While the Cadillac & Lincoln are those cars both full-sized luxury car, so it suppose to be the rival of Mercedes-Benz at least 280SE or 450SEL W116.

  • The Cadillac and Lincoln look much better than the Volvo.

  • the 1968-1975 Volvo 164 was assembled in

    Torslanda, Sweden

    Kalmar, Sweden

  • @Annihilator1111 Strange... my 164 says it was assembled in Goteborg Sweden.. Mine is a 1975 but it was assembled in last few monthes of 74'.

  • Comment removed

  • @newvicon Torslanda is a part of Gothenburg

  • @Jofes1214 lol ahh that makes sence.. i love my volvo :D
