The film is based on the real life fight between Muhammad Ali and Chuck Wepner. That's the basis of Stallone's script. He was ringside at the fight. Wepner was given no chance. But happened to knock down Ali. He eventually was knocked out by Ali but Wepner was the real Rocky. He even tried (unsuccessfully) to sue for some rights off the film.

Now I feel like I can kick ass and conquer all ! I still get goosebumbs every time I hear this music and watch this legendary classic after thirty five years.I seen this movie when I was ten and I feel like a bad ass ten year old again.

It was the only one with a believeable storyline, Inspired by a true story (Wepner-Ali) All the rest were mere movies. I was sorry I went to see Rocky 2 & 3 .Plan Stupid,in comparsion. I wouldn't watch the rest.
