wth that thing looks so real! btw what did you use to paint the interior of the car, any where i could buy that kind of paint like wal mart, k mart of amazon? Name of the kit used to paint =D
@points2shopPROOF I used Tamiya's aircraft and military matt colors for the interior. Tamiya paints are available at most fine hobby shops. Tamiya spray paints are synthetic lacquers, dry quicker than enamels, and are well worth the extra money. Glad you enjoyed the R8 build!
Hello@geckoman1220, thanks for viewing my Revell R8 build. You've got some awesome model car builds yourself (Mustangs!) and it inspired me to build a 2007 Shelby GT500 kit-great kit, but can use a bit of suspension lowering.
Contrary to other Revell R8 build experiences, it's a great model kit...very precise in design so trim each part cleanly, assemble as much as possible, then mask and paint. It's my reccomendation for a tight-looking R8. Regards, David
Hello@Clawlessic , thanks for viewing my Revell Audi R8 build. The blue tape is 3M-brand painters tape. I use a X-acto-brand #11 hobby knife to slice thinner strips (.25") wide to hold parts in place while the adhesive of solvent bonds parts together.
The R8 kit is highly precise, so parts must be positioned properly for the right appearance. The 3M blue tape (keep it away from heat) and provides the perfect level of adhesion required and leaves no residue. Hope this helps! David
@davidleedesign sure does :) thanks for the info keep your video's coming i love to see models finished. working on an calsonic skyline gt-r 2003 from tamiya myself atm (kinda beginning with all these models creating etc)
Hello@Clawlessic, glad you're enjoying my model car builds, I'll be posting more Revell Ferraris very shortly. Tamiya's a great model kit manufacturer-really got hooked on thier early 1/24th sports cars and have to start building them! Revell is doing great design and engineering work on thier latest kits...I built the '06 Z06 Vette and that's an awesome kit, highly recommended. Looking forward to Revell's upcoming ZR-1, Ferrari 458, and Audi A4 DTM kits.
Hello@DCRlive, thanks for viewing and kind words! For a clean R8, wash parts cleanly, dry and apply a couple coats of Tamiya Fine Surface Primer. Once dry and smooth, apply Tamiya or Testors undercoat (silver or gold) for metallics (cool or warm color), or apply Tamiya or Testors syn-lacquer spray color. If pebbly, color sand with sanding film (3200-4000), then respray. Once dry, apply Tamiya clear gloss spray and that's it! Regards, David.
very clean! I screwed up mine completely XD
