did he actually play the first concerto?...if he did the second, he might probably have played also the first concerto too, or not?...i wonder if he did it...
I hate to list great performances in the descending order.
You prefer Perahia and I prefer Hofmann, somebody else will put Rubinstein in the 1st place. Others will get offended because you didn't include Argerich or Kissin or Yundi Li or Bella Davidovich or Yakov Zak or Lev Oborin... should I continue? I'm not against your preferences, but against the "numbering".
True. I have listened to Argerich playing this. I have yet to listen to Bella Davidovich or Yakov Zak or Lev Oborin, if you have these tracks, please upload. Thanks
i agree with ur view about hofmann, truecrypt! by the way, tnx for all the unique uploads. with hofmann, every piece becomes alive! there's something in hofmann's tempo that makes it very unique. full of heart! since rachmaninoff dedicated his third concerto to hofmann, is there any remaining testament to hofmann's recording of the 3rd? i read 10 years ago from the program notes to cecille licad's rach3 debut in the philippines that cecille actually owns a copy of it. i'll try to find it out.
This is very good. I like it. However, Zimerman's is better for some undefinable reason. Still, it's great that a recording of Richter playing these got onto YouTube! :)
Ah. I also did not know Richter performed these concertos. Despite the fact that I despise Chopin because of Lang Lang (Bang Bang, as I would like to call him), this is actually great music. And the conducting! Although I consider Mehta a great conductor, his conducting with the Banger as the soloist is horrible! Another star to Richter's great performances.
Well, that was my old selfish self where I couldn't bear his extreme romantic music - I love his etudes but I still don't understand his concertos. Well, I very feel stupid about this one.
That's fair enough. I love his concerti. The development and the haunting themes in both opening movements are just thrilling! And the adagio movements are heart wrenching. :-)
My order is Richter(this)at first and then whoever you want...

Not to gripe, since it IS Chopin, but 60's recordings never get the whole color :( Thanks for posting--happy to hear the whole concerto in one place!
