  • i prayed with faith to god when i was very desperate and he gave me signs from my belt being in the form of an 8 (sign) to helping me in struggles....so yea god will listen to those faithful and commited he will not listen if sin is in your heart......

  • If you pray with faith god answers your prayers. Some times if we pray he does not listen because we still doing Sin. If sin remained in our heart god does not listen our prayers.

  • If I talk to god, I am pious.

If god talks to me , I am crazy.

    ha ha ha.

    Crazy religion.

  • People have been talking to imaginary entities for some time and they continue to even today. It's ok! There are about 4&1/2 billion idiots in this world and if you talk to things that don't exsist, know that you are not alone!

  • was it just me or did the bible say god had an evil thought

  • @eyezerocool I saw that too. Pretty interesting. It says it a couple times, one is Moses suggesting that what God is considering is evil and then God repenting concerning the evil he had intended. Good stuff!

  • I believe if there is a god he listens (i.e. he hears you), but does whatever HE wants anyway (in other words, he doesn't listen). Problem solved.

    J/K ;)

  • @ProMTH ALL PRAISES TO THE MOST HIGH, and Glory to My King, Jesus Christ! All Blessings to You Jacob! I am of The Tribe Jacob; GOD Answers My Prayers! People get OFFENDED by THE HOLY SPIRIT (THE BIBLE) when it CONVICTS THEM! They receive that feeling of being on TRIAL when doing things They know ARE wrong! What people fail to realize is God is against Religion! Through out THE BIBLE God speaks against; ROMAN CATHOLIC, ISLAM, and JUDAISM! The BIBLE is about God and His Love for HIS PEOPLE!

  • @jamjr1972 Do you have anything relevant to this video to say? I suspect not, but charity dictates giving someone the benefit of the doubt.

  • @ProfMTH Yea, Jewish Mandate: Amos 7:17. Major Slave Traders: America, Great Britain, Jewish ships, and Arabia/THE FOUR HORNS. Zechariah 1:19

  • @jamjr1972 What have these passages to do with slavery? What evidence do you have the Jews had anything to do with the enslavement of black people?

  • @clivegoodman16 AMOS 7:17 IS THE HISTORY OF MY PEOPLE; RELIGION SCATTERED JACOB! "THY WIFE SHALL BE AN HARLOT IN THE CITY; MY BELOVED PEOPLE WAS RAPE AND SOLD LIKE CATTLE!" "THY SONS AND THY DAUGHTERS SHALL FALL BY THE SWORD, THOSE THAT TRIED TO FIGHT FOR THEIR FREEDOM; FROM RELIGION WAS MURDERED! AND THY LAND SHALL BE DIVIDED BY LINE, "THE JEWISH/BRITISH/PALESTINE MANDATE, "EPHRAIM AND ISHMAEL DIVIDED ISRAEL!"; AND THOU SHALT DIE IN A POLLUTED LAND: "JUDAH IS TRAP'D IN AMERICA!" JACOB IS A SLAV

  • @clivegoodman16 "WHAT DOES THE JUDAH'ISH JEW HAVE TO DO WITH THE ENSLAVEMENT OF "THE CHOSEN?" "THE CHOSEN HAVE SET EPHRAIM AND MANASSEH FATHER JOSEPH IN A HOLE AND THE MUSLIMS CAME AND SOLD HIM TO THE EGYPTAINS!" "EPHRAIM AND MANASSEH HOLD VERY LONG GRUDGES!" "THEY JUST DID TO US WHAT OUR FATHERS DID TO THEM!" "THEY HAD TO GROW UP IN THEIR FATHER'S AFFLICTION; BUT THEY CAN'T PROVE THEY HAD A HISTORY OF HARD AFFLICTIONS SUCH AS SLAVERY! "JEWS?" "THEY ARE THE OLD ISRAEL!" ISAIAH 62:4,EZEKIEL 34:12

  • If God didn't mean what He said, why in the world didn't He say what he meant. I almost feel sorry for people who no longer believe in the Trinity. What will you say to Him when you stand before the great White Throne judgement. After what Jesus went through during his crucifixtion. Anyone who denies Him deserves to go to Hell. Sorry to sound so mean, But thats the way it is....

  • @junebugt55 What, if anything, does your comment have to do with the topic of this video?

  • @ProfMTH Don't you love how "loving Christians" resort to the threat of hell and hatred when there aren't any reasonable explanations available? Just a reminder, "They will know you are my disciples by your love for one another, " "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law,"Seems like junebug has forgotten these and many other key verses.

  • @OldBattlehorse "Don't you love how "loving Christians" resort to the threat of hell and hatred when there aren't any reasonable explanations available?"

It's sad, really. It's also the functional equivalent of their saying, "I've got nothin' here."

  • @ProfMTH hilarious!

  • @ProfMTH

  • @ProfMTH - what i meant was your responses to the last two cats! nothing to do with the video, but a side rant of their own. they should actually like your point in the video

  • @junebugt55 If dumb was a drug, you would have overdosed.

  • @junebugt55 Could you explain this?

"If God didn't mean what He said, why in the world didn't He say what he meant."

the last part is bugging me. Why in the world didn't he say what he meant. Could you explain this to me as if I were five years old?

  • @junebugt55 And about what you said to those who no longer believe in the trinity deserving of hell. First off, I know how you Christians love to accuse atheists of having no moral barometer, but when you say something so stupid like we deserve to go to hell for not believing what credulous numb skulls like yourself believe, we deserve to go to hell for that? And you people take the moral high ground? Ironic isn't. Jewish tribal men over reason and logic.

  • @junebugt55 Trinity = Polytheism in denial.

  • you became an atheist just like that in 1,5 year ? that's too fast. i hope it's not too dangerous for your mind.

it took me years from the age of 7 or 8 (yeah childhood yeah !) to realize slowly how stupid and useless this system is...

  • @zecle "you became an atheist just like that in 1,5 year ?"

    In December 2006.

  • Yahweh does not listen to Christian, because Christian worship a different god. They worship the image that was created by their religion and they breath life into that image. Yahweh is not a man ,nor the son of man Numbers 23:19-20

  • @odephraimchai The ironic thing is that Yahweh isn't one bit more valid than the god the christians created. So what does it even matter?

  • There is no Jesus it is the shame of Christianity, to substitute the name of Yahuahshua for a non God invention of the still flourishing Roman Empire. The talking snakes a.k.a. teachers for hire continue to drag the lambs to the pit. What of the 7 eye stone prophecy, they say ah haar it is a Jesus.

To all you Christian false witnesses, merry Egypt and happy new burning your babies to Moloch. May the balls of Ra dangle from your penis tree covered in semen and your vagina door reef reprove u.

  • i want to smell your armpits

  • @1337ArmPit "i want to smell your armpits"

I'm not surprised. But if I let you do it, then I'd have to let ALL the others who've expressed that desire have a go at it and, well, I just don't have that kind of time.

  • no one listens to me - therefore none of you exist..

    lmao XD

  • Theists contradict themselves, theists contradict the bible, the bible contradicts itself, people in the bible contradict God, God contradicts Himself in the bible... but all this goes away if you just believe hard enough.

  • The answer to this video: no, he's not real.

  • ProfMTH, why do you not accept Jesus as your personal saviour anymore? Why did you leave the Christian faith?

  • @bluechika881 I've made a number of videos about my transition away from religious faith. If you're interested in the details, I encourage you to watch them. See, e.g., /watch?v=GzZprt7eWfU&p

    /watch?v=zbGpm9Cwr2I

    /watch?v=QciwB9FMTkc

    /watch?v=BslyDuQKJKE

    Thanks.

  • i cant pray to someone i never have seen before....do you know were god lives ?? make a video

  • Umm, I don't know about anyone else, but this video breaks (for me at least) at 3:57. It won't play any farther no matter how many times I restart/ refresh the page, nor will it let me skip past that point. Does anyone have some suggestions?

  • Ight check this out if God answers every single one of our prayers and does everything for us then what's the point of our existence? Sometimes we have to fix it ourselves.

  • do you believe that George washington is real. ive never seen him so he must not be. just like what you say about jesus

  • @cheeseballs85 I've never said that the reason I don't believe in Jesus is because I can't see him. What are you talking about?

  • @ProfMTH i just said it. did i reply to you. im just saying that somthing that many athiest think. im not saing that what your like but its what others are.

  • @cheeseballs85 "did i reply to you"

You posted a text comment under my video, so, yes, you replied to me. If you feel the need to address others but not me, do it elsewhere, e.g., on your own channel.

  • @ProfMTH Excuse previous comment. Computer glitch.

  • @cheeseballs85- Wow that's an awful argument, no-one says Jesus didn't exsist, historical records show he did...however there is no proof for Jesus having supernatural abilities or any evidence at all for the exsistence of God. So you're comparison is very faulty.

  • @piemakesmelol There actually is no evidence that Jesus existed. Not a shred.

  • @cheeseballs85 You seem to think that the evidence for G Washington and Jesus are similar... No. There is clear evidence for Washington, from myriad sources. The only source for evidence that Jesus existed is the NT in the unholy Bible. Not even close.

  • @cheeseballs85 Your comparison of Jesus to Washington is false. Washington is known from many unrelated sources, writers and historians, not just a fable in one ancient, unverifiable book. Actual personal artifacts, signatures etc. still exist today for Washington. And finally, no one makes fantastic, absurd supernatural claims about Washington, thus there is no reason to doubt stories about him, or require extraordinary proof of his existence. You fail.

  • God always listens, even to those who do not believe. Does he give everyone everything they pray for? No.

  • @GodsBlessedBeauty Its funny how his "yes" answers have about the same probability as a coin toss...

  • @johngeetar Whose "yes" answers? I am sorry I do not understand your comment or how it relates to mine. Please provide clarification.

  • @GodsBlessedBeauty There is no god. No evidence over all of human history= no god.

  • @jymbo1969 Where did humans come from to even have a history?

  • @jymbo1969 Check out near death experiences and maybe you will change your mind there is definitely something after we die.

  • @master18666 NDEs are a myth. The cause is known and it is demonstrably biological. NDEs are bullshit. If NDEs were true, and were not caused by a function of the brain losing oxygen, then every open heart surgery would result in a NDE. And of course, none do.

  • How long do you think it would take to de bunk Allah?

  • @Caligula138

Technically, God is Allah, so...debunk God and you debunk Allah.

  • @Atharkas Allah and Yahweh are not the same god... although it is true that they both share the attribute of non-existance.

  • Well, technically, Allah is the same abrahamic deity as the one in judaism and christianism, however it is true, neither exist. But then again, calling allah a moon deity would also be true since the Mecca was built as a temple for the sumerian deity called Hubal which is also known as Nanna, the moon deity.

But it's still true, no deities exist.

  • Prof, did you get any substanstive response from Zkueker88 on this questions of God listening to people?

  • There's a video response from him. I'll leave it to you to decide whether it's substantive. :-)

  • Maybe you take it wrong that I personally couldn't answer your question. My point is this: How can I answer a question you have about a relationship you have with someone else? In this case you and God. Prayer is one way to comunicate with God. It is between you and God. I can share what things I know, that is, my personal relationship with the same God you are asking a question about. God wants you, me and all human kind to have the answers to whom God is, and His will for each of us.

  • Your video is well presented, and asks an important question. Does God listen to you. May I ask you this important question? Are you listening to God? If so, how? If not, how will you know when God answers?

  • "May I ask you this important question?"

Only after you answer the question I asked you earlier. When prayers are not answered, is it because they were not prayed "in faith"? Thanks.

  • Again my personel thanks to you for asking these important questions. I wish I had the answer for you. I don't. What I do know is that because of my faith in God, I trust Him to hear my prayers, and to also make me aware of how He answered them. My faith in Jesus, God's son brings peace and joy into my life, I can only share what I know. I know Jesus cares for (loves) me, and you. For this reason I trust Him. Luke 11:1-13 Jesus speaks about what and how He provides.

  • Me- "When prayers are not answered, is it because they were not prayed 'in faith'?"

Estellaandpip- "I wish I had the answer or you. I don't."

    Thanks.

Estellaandipip- "I can only share what I know."

Well, *you* raised the "in faith" thing, so it seemed reasonable to conclude that you knew about it. I guess not though.

    Thanks just the same.

  • God hears the prayers of all who call on His name in faith. Prayer and faith are linked. So how do I get faith in God. Faith comes by hearing, that is the hearing of the word of God (The Bible). James speaks of the prayer of a rightous man, in James the 5th chapter. So what man is rightous? A rightous man is one who believes God's word. Not just a few words, but the Bible from cover to cover. Yes, God hears my prayers. Jesus is my Lord, in faith I believe all my prayers are heard!

  • So when prayers are not answered is it because they were not prayed "in faith"?

  • I have prayed, not in faith but in desperation, and had those prayers answered. So no, unanswered prayers are not because they were prayed without faith. I believe the determining factort o be: Is the prayer consistent with God's will?

  • ??????? ok thin how dose god hear the sinners prayer lol man this is agood vid

  • The person of the actual person?

    ooooohh--kaaaayyyy.

    That guy's a nutjob.

  • "The person of the actual person?"

Just saying it gives one a headache. ;-)

  • look so hes contradicting himself... he is human... its not that weird.. your just being arsey...

  • i think there is no god. if there is a god, fuck, i would tell him how shitty this world is: war, violence, ... because this is still there, god maybe is on holiday or not there.

  • When you ask them why God won't heal amputees they say "It's part of God's plan." However, they also believe when they pray for help to get a raise at work that God will change his plan just for them.

They also say God can't give conclusive evidence or it will ruin faith. Then in the same breath they take on archeology projects and try to convince people with pseudo evidence. Wouldn't that ruin faith too?

How can they say evidence is bad and then try to provide some?

  • "How can they say evidence is bad and then try to provide some?'

Because apologists are not going wherever the truth leads. Rather, they are advocates, and, alas to say, advocates will often say anything, no matter how contradictory or false.

  • what if god is real but has stopped giving a shit about us because we complain so much?

(this is not a serious question to the extent of me saying "GOD HATES US" this is me saying "why has god just...stopped?"

  • kuw...

What's interesting is that "god stopped" 2 thousand years ago!

Since the crucifixion, no miracles, no healings, no viewings, no shit!! He just disappeared.

(Not a peep from yahweh either)!

  • see i don't trust sources from 2000years ago which is y i'm an athiest. if god is real he is a sinner himself SHAME ON GOD!

  • Hi der Prof, may I ask why u av left ur faith? Anserin ur question duz God lisen? yes always evryfin is preordained as wel so he know evryfin we say, we r rebellius & chose 2 reject da lord's word bcos we 1t 2 listen 2 r own needs & motifs. We r da ppl not listenin. 2 listen, u must "reflect" on fings, put into "perspective"pray wit sincerity wit motifs that r n't selfish or corupted, 4 ppl who don't get prayer answered eitha it as bin answerd & didn't hear or it not rite & god got biga plan gbu

  • What is with that writing of your, Squib56? Horrible. I'm sure you know how to write in actual English, and I strongly encourage you to do so. The way you've written here just makes you look silly. As for my transition to atheism, please watch my "Why are you an atheist?" video. Thanks.

  • squib56, if you are trying to make a point, speak intelligently. I don't want to decode whatever it is you are trying to say!!!! >:(

  • squib.

Then let me ask you this; Is god both Omniscient and Omnipotent???

If U say yes, then I would say such a god cannot exist. Do U know why?

  • Prof, great vid.

  • I believe Zkueker88 is a meth user and isn't a person in a person. I'm kidding! Zkueker88 is your average, typical fundie. He will snap out of it one day, he's too smart for xianity.

  • Your prayer is heard if you beleive it is received. You can't just pray to see if it works.

  • Is that the only condition, that one believe that it is received?

  • I've seen it happen to people and to me. I've seen people being healed before my eyes during prayer. I honestly don't know if that is the only condition. But hey it hasn't failed me.

  • "I honestly don't know if that is the only condition."

Wouldn't that be something one should want to know, if only to be sure that one's prayers get heard and answered?

  • Well I did say it was working and yes, I do all of a sudden want to know if there is more than one condition. But like I said, it is working.

  • The Bible says that God does not hear the prayers of the wicked. He answers me all the time. You have to take a step toward Him, and He will take many steps toward you.

  • "He answers me all the time."

    How do you know?

  • How do you know He doesn't?

  • "How do you know He doesn't?"

lol Actually, Apologist325, I asked you how you know "he" does. Are you not able to answer that question?

  • how do i get him to answer me,where do i step???

  • Take a step toward virtue. Pray, do something for someone other than yourself for once, etc.

  • I'm still waiting for you to answer the question I asked you, Apologist325.

  • It appears that apologist 325 didn't watch your video that discussed answering a question with a question is an inefficient way to debate and is not an answer.

I love watching your videos. Can't say it enough. I'm making slow progress, but I'll be on summer break soon. Thanks for all the suggestions. I have several new subs. Though I must admit, it will be a while before I read the Dover trial file.

  • Thanks a lot, DansLookingGlass.

  • Apolog...

Wait a minute. What's with the condescending remark??

As I said before, when I was a Xian, I was, and am, very generous, & much more virtuous than what you suggest, and I never had prayers answered, nor did my virtuous, unselfish friends!

    U wanna explain that?

I think U R trying to "lay one on us" as the saying goes!

What an outrageous thing to say..."do something 4 someone other than yourself for once!" Un-fucking-believable!!

  • @Apologist325 Your prescription for rockboy makes prayer akin to a bank. Deposit a few good deeds before you make any withdrawls.

  • Apol..

I was a Xian for over 50 years. I never had prayers answered and I never saw prayers answered.

Of course, I saw the usual praise when a coincidence occurred, or the usual excuse when it wasn't, which was 99% of teh time.

I saw no prayers answered in Vietnam, & I saw no prayers answered after I got home & watched my friend's 7 yr old daughter die from Bone Cancer....but you get prayers answered all the time?? I'd like to hear about your claims in detail.

  • Sometimes I think we are so dumb- that G-d may not want to listen to us, whether we arent being rational, truthful, or we have selfish ambitions. I dont think G-d should be a genie that we sit on our hands and demand something from G-d, then it will magically come true somehow. This Zkue guy seems to be rather confused, I wouldnt base any weighty decision or really anything off of him.

  • What can be asserted without proof can be dismissed without proof.

  • God listens, that's for sure...

    God listens...TO SLAYER!

  • Dear Charbala:

How does God answer the pleads of suffering children who die horribly before they are old enough to get any peace or understanding?. And how do you reconcile the image of a God that allows such horrific suffering to fulfill some obscure plan, with that of a merciful, loving father? If God is not moved by the pleads of little children, what real chances are there for the rest of us? As I see it, God allows the killing, maiming, abuse and pain of people, whatever the pray or not.

  • you have quoted the bible. specifically the old testament the time before the come of christ. christ died because he held up the law of god and to fulfill the prophecies in the book. at christs death and ascension to heaven a new covenant between god and man was made freeing man, jew and gentile from the old laws. its a christian duty to be thankful and to pray to god so he may bring you peace and understanding. your pleads are already heard before u speak and the anwers have always been waiting

  • Zkueker88 is right in a sense. Since, as it seems to me, the Christian God probably doesn't exist, then He ISN'T listening to anyone. ;)

  • do you listnen to your bacteria inside ?

  • I haven't a clue what that question is asking.

  • @tobiaskelvin "do you listnen to your bacteria inside ? "

Yeah I LISTNEN to my mediclorines all the time

wait, wait, no, got a better one...

I don't LISTNEN to my bacteria inside, but I do LISTNEN to my Intel inside!

  • do you care about their opinions ?

medicines...plaque for them. go ahead destroy their lives.

  • @tobiaskelvin "do you care about their opinions?"

ROFL, I said mediclorines, not medicines, have you ever watched StarWars?

Like ProfMTH said, you are asking a bizarre question, unless you are trying to make some correlation between listening to bacteria inside and listening to Jesus inside, in which case Id agree both are equally crazy.

  • i don't care about opinions, because both are true. I should only care about my own opinions.

The law of duality is unavoidable.

And i was not talking about listening to jesus inside. But if god listnens to us. Wake up!

God made us because he wanted to know who he was. We made computers to find out who we are. Everybody wants to do "the right thing", so go and create experiences. Not search for any uncertain truths. You can just LOVE LIVE EXPERIENCE without any needs for theory's and reasons.

  • "We made computers to find out who we are."

We did? I thought we made computers to do stuff for us that we couldn't do, didn't want to do, couldn't do fast enough, or some combination of the three. I don't know myself any better because of any computer.

  • never mind, i found peace, i have no need to find god. i'm there

  • It's cool that these videos are civil and all, but ZKU is defending his book of contradictions with more contradictions.

You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

  • u grown up educated ppl.

jesus died for the sins of the world!

1)did h also die for the sins of the ppl born and die before him?

2)are unborn childern to come, will be born with the sins? how come? - jesus already died for their sins?doesnt make sense!

    3) what will happen to a murderer or rapist and why should he get punished if JESUS has already died for his sins?

plz wake up, read quran and find the truth.

  • god listens to all he just doesn't always respond in the way we ask.

  • if you don't mind me asking, what is your viewpoint on the beginning of the Earth?

  • I'm afraid I don't understand the question, Dillon. Perhaps you would rephrase it.

  • yes, I apologize. I'm talking about your belief on the creation of the earth, or the creation/evolution of the people.

  • Thanks. I'm not an adherent of creationism.

  • PART 1

I personally don't think God listens to anyone, and have begun to question my whole faith

A few weeks ago our Country had a national tragedy; a group of local fishermen went out fishing to sea where the vessel caught fire and sunk. Now, these were people who had been fishing all their life, coming from one of our own fishing villages. The boat was also brand new, so this explosion shoudlnt have happened. Out of the 5 people on board, only 1 survived....

  • As is perceive it zkueker88's videos are solely based on rhetoric skills in confusing people and laying out scripture to his likes ('person in the person' and similar things). This whole argument seems superfluous to me, one person says "God meant that!" *points to passage in the bible* and the other responds "no you don't understand it, look here" *points to another passage* while the whole friggin' book is not even credible.

  • what If I where to state that someone who belives we all came from a dust and his god was for 9 month in Mary 12 years woman belly in earth, and ultimately angles deserves childish insults?

  • Nevermind. I watched your video that answered my question.

  • I'm confused. Why can't God listen to a believer?

  • ok bro check it out if ur walking truely righteous and every day dedicating to readin from the bible and fasting then god will MANIFEST himself in the holy spirit and he will actually speak to you first hell get to u through the bible then depending on ur gift he will speack to you physically do not lose faith bro i use to be a catholic until one day god had mercy on me and sent me a spiritual father and ever since then i turned christian and ITS NOT THE RELIGION THATS GOING TO SAVE

  • hey look do not listen to z kuuecker or wat ever his name is but 1 becuz the holy spirit is god becuz he is so great that he has to manifest himself in the holy spirit so we shall not die in his presence o and god does listen to us but he doesnt take orders from us if we want somthing we have to work for it in prayer and fasting when we pray we cant just ask for it once but we must continue asking for it and fast for it also remember god is perfect in all ways wat moses did is pray to god

  • "wat moses did is pray to god"

Actually, what Moses did in the passage discussed in the video was tell God that what he had planned to do was wrong, and then he went on to persuade God not to do it. And, according to the story, God came to agree with him, and as a result he repented of the evil he had intended to do to his people. The story couldn't be any plainer. Thanks.

  • like i said bro we must work at it says in the bible

    Mark 13:20

"And unless the lord shortens that time of calamity, not a soul in all the earth will survive. But for the sake of his chosen ones he will limit those days"

if he would do this for his chosen ones then dont u think he would do that for moses and bro u said it ur self he explained to god y he shouldnt do it so he was practicly pleading god not to do it so god saw his desires & didnt cuz the bible says anything u want will be done

  • This zkueker88 kid doesn't do a lot of thinking for himself. The arguments he uses are ones he's picked up by watching too much Youtube.

  • why did you turn away from the christian faith? that means you turned away from GOD and JESUS. not good dude, not good :(

  • Well, Artem1002, I have a whole catalogue of videos in which I discusss this, including, without limitation, a video entitled "Why are you an atheist?" My conclusion that there is no god is the result of a long process marked by lots and lots of reading, thinking, praying, soul searching, speaking with others, and so on. It was a difficult process, but I'm persuaded that at the end of it, I arrived at the truth. You are, of course, free to disagree.

  • Hey ProfMTH,

Another fine video. You have accurately pointed out that zkueker88's comments are confusing and seemingly contradictory.

You are correct, God does listen to the prayers of His people. Yet, listening is not the same as answering; and answering is not the same as granting what is asked for.

God is not a magical genie that gives us everything we want. Even a good parent does not give his child everything they ask for, right?

Thanks for being reasonable & using logic.

  • Thanks for your comment, Erich168.

  • Thank God someone else has realized that God is not mean't to be a magical genie to solve all our little problems for us.

The whole point of Christianity is that it is a personal relationship and unity with God, God inspires you to get thru your problems, God won't just wave a magic wand and take away all the bad things. Its time that atheists and Christians alike realized that.

God is always listening to us because God is always with each and every one of us :)

  • Is there any biblical support for zkueker88's contention that God is actually listening to that "God/ Jesus part" inside the one who is praying to Him? Essentially, Himself? What is this "God/ Jesus part"? Is it the soul?

Or is this just one of those personal rationalisations that some Xians create to explain away inconsistencies/ contradictions/ bizarre divine punishments and pronouncements etc in the bible?

  • "Is there any biblical support for zkueker88's contention that God is actually listening to that "God/ Jesus part" inside the one who is praying to Him?"

Good question, FantasmaBAnco. While there are lots of New Testament passages that describe Jesus as mediator between God and humankind, I can't think of any passage that has Jesus "within" a person actually doing the praying and God only listening to him. There is a curious passage in Romans that talks about the Spirit...

  • ...assisting believers to pray and interceding for them. It's Romans 8:26-27, which states, "In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will."

  • I'm going to have to modify my computer with some windshield wipers, I can barely see anything with all this christian bullshit flying at me.

  • I don't think Zkueker88 is the man you should go to when seeking Godly advice.

  • "I don't think Zkueker88 is the man you should go to when seeking Godly advice."

Is that comment directed to me, Dillj34555? If so, I've not sought advice -- "godly" or otherwise -- from Zkueker88.

  • I get my godly advice from my invisible dog. It's never steered me wrong. In fact, I think its somewhere in the elbib that instructs you on how to build your life around the great invisible dog within all of us.

  • Lets say the men who destroyed the twin towers are not evil, GOD was just testing America like he did to JOB,America should just accept it and move on shouldn't they.

  • Whether God listens when Christians pray, since these are Old Testament Saints, one could say they somehow believed in Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour and had been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and it was all done ex post facto when Jesus descended into Hell but since they were Law observant Jews and we all know that God does not hear the prayer of a Jew, these verses are a fairy tale pointing to Jesus and God would have listened to them had they been good ol' Southern Baptists.

  • Ok Prof, I gave your video a second viewing, I wasn't feeling very well the first time around. I would disagree with the statements quoted by Zkueker in this video that were quoted. Based on the context of the scriptures quoted in the video I would agree that God does listen. As CajunPunk stated earlier that ZK is of the calvinist persuasion which we are all just chosen and it is all God's will, etc. I hope that answer from me is clearer than previous comments.

  • Thanks, GUAM. Much clearer.

  • 1 of 4:

My responses from the three Christians I interviewed on this subject:

Christian A (re: Moses changing God's mind in Exodus 32): "Well, you may *interpret* this passage as Moses being able to influence God, but realize that God gave Moses the responsibility of being a mediator: one whose duty it is to bring about reconciliation. So God was simply giving Moses the opportunity to practice mediating peace."

Or in other words, the "God *said* it but didn't *mean* it" rationalization.

  • 2 of 4:

Christian B: "God definitely listens and responds to our prayers! He saved my life when I prayed to Him about [incident X] and guided me through the [incident Z]." When I asked her how she could reconcile God's hands-on involvement in her life with his apparent hands-off approach with the million+ children that die from diarrhea-related dehydration every year, her reply was "I ... I can't. I can't understand that. But should I be able to understand the mind of God?"

  • 3 of 4:

Or in other words, the "God works in mysterious ways" argument.

Christian C: "God responds to *some* prayers but not others. Just as a child cannot influence parents in adult matters, a child *can* influence a parent in matters of mercy. And God IS merciful—sometimes I can hardly believe how merciful He is! Sometimes I feel like crying out, 'God, how can You be SO forgiving'?!"

  • 4 of 4:

(And she said this with something of a wild glassy-eyed look---I believe her eyes were welling up of tears of gratitude.)

Or in other words, the "my hyper-emotional state is tinged with madness: do you REALLY want to continue the conversation??!!" approach--the most effective argument-stopper in the Christian's arsenal!

  • "Christian C: "God responds to *some* prayers but not others.""

That seems reasonable and biblically sound. All throughout the Bible some prayers are answered yes, some prayers are answered no, and some are answered the way God wants.

The perfect example is when Jesus makes a request before his arrest about doing something different. God sends an angel to strengthen him. Afterward he's in agony and prays even more earnestly. The answer was basically, "No, but I'll help you." (Luke 22:42-44)

  • heyalun: That's the problem. You've expanded the definition of "answering" a prayer to be so broad as to be indistinguishable from "not answering" a prayer.

You might as well use a Magic 8 Ball.

  • middlekk!! You again?!

"You've expanded the definition of "answering" a prayer to be so broad as to be indistinguishable from "not answering" a prayer."

No. Look at the example I gave. The answer to Jesus' prayer was, "No," correct? No answer is just nothing. Jesus was given angelic aid too.

That's like if a child requests money and the parent says, no, but I'll train you to get gainful employment. That's very different from no response at all.

  • Yep. Still here, still rational.

Take any instance of a prayer being answered. Insert "consulted a Magic 8 ball" or "asked Tinkerbell".

And there you have the exact and equivalent amount of evidence that a prayer was answered.

The answer to every prayer is either "yes," "no", or "wait". Under those conditions, the response you get is exactly the same as you would if you didn't pray.

I'm with zkrueker88 on this one. God listens to no one. Why should he? It would mess up his divine plan.

  • "still rational"

The gentleman dost protest too much.

And, the last I checked Magic 8 balls didn't send angels to help you. I admit that I haven't shaken one in a while, though. Maybe they've been upgraded.

I could imagine the commercial: "New and improved magic 8 balls. Now with holy spirit!"

But seriously, God can change his mind or respond to new information without "the divine plan" being in jeopardy. The scripture in Exodus illustrates that. "The plan" has flexibility built into it.

  • Last I checked, sending angels to help amounted to exactly "squat" in terms of the actual outcome.

The guy still died. How did the angels "help" him?

If they "eased his suffering", isn't that cheating? Wasn't the whole point of the cross the fact that Jesus had to SUFFER and die?

Angels are as mythical as Jesus.

And who witnessed this "angelic" presence? The same myth-makers who made up the whole story in the first place. What a shock!

    Fairy stories. Myths. Fables.

  • "How did the angels "help" him?"

If you had read the scripture it tells you exactly how the helped him. They strengthened him to be able to accomplish God's will.

  • So he cheated. Him dying on the cross was nothing more than a magic trick, with angels propping him up in the back.

    David Blaine could do better.

  • "So he cheated."

God helping his servants is not cheating. Jesus actions and his words indicate that he suffered greatly and died truly innocently. That resounding answer to Satan's challenge redeems our race. No tricks.

Mark 15:34 - "My God, My God, why have you foresaken me?"

Hebrews 2:9 - "We behold Jesus...crowned with glory and honor for having suffered death, that he by God's undeserved kindness might taste death for every man."

  • David Blaine's "actions" inside an ice block indicated he suffered greatly. Too bad it was all just a magic trick.

If angels propped Jesus up, he cheated. Period.

He FAKED suffering. That's no big deal. I used to FAKE suffering in my high school acting days. Easy as pie.

And think about it. How can you kill 'god'? It's all a con job. One big fakeroo from beginning to end. And even then, Jesus couldn't handle it and had to have angels come and support him.

  • And in the meantime, REAL people were dying next to him with no angelic support at all. Why didn't this loving and compassionate person send the angels over to help the thief?

Nope, he kept them all for himself.

  • You've misread (if you even read at all). Angels didn't "prop him up" as he was dying. They came to him before he was arrested when he was agonizing over what he had to do.

And the thief *was* strengthened by Jesus promise that he would be in paradise with him. (Luke 23:43)

You can't kill God. Jesus is God's son. (John 20:31)

Also it's pretty hard to get your enemies and the government to help you fake a brutal death in which you are whipped bloddy, nailed to a pole, and speared.

  • You ever read the Nicene Creed?

"...Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds; God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God; begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made."

He was god, too. And so therefore immortal. And therefore "unkillable". And therefore, his "death" was a sham, according to the fundamental assertions of your religion.
