Obama's idea of universal health care is to force everyone to get health insurance. By the way, I have been studying European and international law but have also studied the American constitution and while discussing its history it has always been said that more amendments and a bill of rights included in the Constitution were always needed and as of now this has never been achieved because of just this attitude by the state givernments.

I don't think Thomas Jefferson ever envisioned people would be forced into a system that made it too expensive to get the healthcare they needed and only offered it if you didn't get sick. For the majority of people that's just simply not possible. This country pays more for healthcare than any other country and has the lowest average life expectancy versus countries that pay less.

This law is illegal for numerous reasons. 1. The commerce clause does not authorize the fed to require a citizen to buy anthing. 2. The fed cannot require an insurance co. to continue to cover a person under a family policy who is a legal adult at age 21. The fed can regulate certain aspects of business but it cannot tell companies that it must cover all persons, eg, it cannot tell the coffee industry it must have enough coffee for everyone.

I don't see the issue really. Maybe this is because I'm not American, but here in Australia national health-care is pretty much taken for granted, there is nothing radical about it, nothing scary.

If you read the constitution, you will see in Article one, Section 8 that there are only 17 ENUMERATED POWERS of the Federal Government. NOWHERE is the federal government been authorized to legislate any aspect of healthcare. That power is reserved to the states or the people, according to the 9th and 10th Amendments. Americans have tolerated FAR too much abuse of the constitution for FAR too long. The congress quotes the general welfare clause, which is total BS

"If granted power is found, necessarily the objection of invasion of those rights, reserved by the Ninth and Tenth Amendments, must fail." - one such quote.
The powers granted to federal government are not the narrow view you have, but are quite expansive. Again, this is borne by Supreme Court judgments.
The Supreme Court is better than you at judging these things.

Actually, the Supreme Court has made a number of horrible mistakes, based on the personal objectives of the judges. The Supreme Court's decision, for example, on the General Welfare Clause was an act of bench legislation that has adversely affected the Country and our Liberty. You can easily verify that the Supreme Court Decision was an Attack on the Constitution by reading federalist paper no. 41.......the very last section of it.

My authority rests in the facts as provided by the PEN of James Madison (you know, the guy that wrote the constitution) in his comments in the last section of the Federalist papers, Number 41.
The Supreme Court has been transformed into a law CREATING body, making extreme changes to our constitution based on Political opinions, rather than legal opinions.
The courts ruling on the General Welfare clause is one of the best examples.

Not at all. The Founders were the first to express that the constitution would need to evolve with the new nation and the needs of society. The INSTRUMENT of that evolution is called a CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT.
You sound like an intelligent person, so you should get that the instrument of change is not the Supreme Court, executive order or legislative action.... but rather a Constitution Amendment. That process was to guarantee that there be a SUPER MAJORITY.

Federalist paper No. 41 is indisputable. What's more disturbing is that the matter addressed by No. 41 is merely common sense. Only a desperate fool, driven by a political viewpoint and a need to circumvent the Constitution, would argue otherwise.

This forum does not permit lengthy quotes, etc. Suffice it to say that the framers of the Constitution were MUCH more extreme in their choice of words and description of the MAIN purpose of the Constitution. It was not, AT ALL, to "constrain" but meant to PREVENT. That's why the framers had to debate which Amendment was more important to the Constitution, the 1st or 2nd.... that without an armed citizenry, the Constitution would be circumvented by "MEN" with "agendas"

I'll admit that I wanted universal health care and I know a lot of other people did too but what I think we all had in mind was for the government to provide health care to its citizens. Obama's idea of universal health care is to force everyone to get health insurance. I hope the courts do their jobs and have this heard by the supreme court and ruled unconstitutional like it should be.

I don't think Thomas Jefferson ever envisioned people would be forced into a system that made it too expensive to get the healthcare they needed and only offered it if you didn't get sick. For the majority of people that's just simply not possible. This country pays more for healthcare than any other country and has the lowest average life expectancy versus countries that pay less.

This law is illegal for numerous reasons. 1. The commerce clause does not authorize the fed to require a citizen to buy anthing. 2. The fed cannot require an insurance co. to continue to cover a person under a family policy who is a legal adult at age 21. The fed can regulate certain aspects of business but it cannot tell companies that it must cover all persons, eg, it cannot tell the coffee industry it must have enough coffee for everyone.

I don't see the issue really. Maybe this is because I'm not American, but here in Australia national health-care is pretty much taken for granted, there is nothing radical about it, nothing scary.
But I guess change is always a painful thing. Maybe in a few decades time Americans will look back on this in a similar way to how they now look back on the Anti-Vietnam war or Civil Rights movement.

I have no problem with people speaking about the arrogance of elected representatives voting themselves pay raises with a portion of our income. No problem with calling for the trimming of a government that has no desire to be the servant of it's constituents. No problem with Article 5 and using it to "starve" the central government of tax dollars. Not a problem here- it's what the founding fathers of this country would have done.
