I have worked with a project for a while now, i got done today and rendered it. But the result was just a black film with music. Not a single picture or clip in it, just black and the background music. I could watch the video in sony vegas but not after i´ve rendered it.

i dont know what i did but make sure ur at the beginning of the video press "D" highlight the whole video and than once you click render as uncheck the loop part. I did all this and it worked the second time i tried, the first time i had the same problem as everyone else

in rendering, WMV video format is good, but be sure to customize it, and change video quality rendering from 'good' to 'best'. Then change the template from 'default' to '512kpbs video' to AVOID black screen :D

That's a common mistake. You get black bars when your *project* and *render* resolutions do not match. You adjust your project resolution using the left-most button directly above the preview window. You adjust the render resolution using the Custom button that was mentioned in this video. For YouTube it is a good idea to set them both at 320x240, and of course save those templates so you only need to do that once.

For everyone without knowledge when you render i recommend marking the whole clip i maybe can make a video for it. And the bigger the file is the better quality **sometimes**. I recommend WMV or .MOV

MPG-2 is the standard for DVD's and everytime you burn a DVD whether the contents were avi or anything, it converts to mpg2 prior to burn. Commercial DVD'd are mpg-2 files with different extension names. WMV is a good tradeoff for internet sharing size, but if you plan on making a DVD, stay with avi-dv for editing and rendering to mpg-2, then author to dvd in something like sonic MyDvd. Broadcast quality results.
