  • 1 in the manga shes more beautifull,

    2. the sound stinks...

3 D is WAAAYYYY more hotter than that (no homo)

4 with the exception of those 3 this anime is badass

  • miniskirt? most tactical outfit she could wear to combat that shit. yeah i dont think she's too concerned about her appearance when it comes to burying her enemies.

  • first time i saw this was on scifi late night when they used to play anime's on the weekend. it was this followed by E.Y.E.S. of mars. i've been a huge fan since.

  • haha i keep thinking about then the girl said-

-and you can sleep with me if you want to ;3

i can just say- BACK OF BITCH! D IS MINE >=o

  • 3 meals in a day and sleep with her? it's deal

  • 7:52, my favorite part...and 8:15 (after asking him if he's a hunter.)

  • I cant believe i wasted 11 minutes of my life watching this -.- it's so fucking boring and slow! meh

  • @Hadol1991 You must be kidding! This is a classic.

  • This is progressing slower than dragonball...

  • van helsing

  • crazy bitch all hunting in a miniskirt...

  • woah she realised like *poof* f*ck my necklace is gone god dammit

    non sense there xD

  • Why are all vampires counts?

  • @troub1eshooting Rather late but not all are referred to as "Counts"; just those with ties to the old aristocracy of European countries with the exception of Britain's which the equivalent would be "Earl". Interestingly a Count is not that far high on the Aristocracy scale as one would imagine, After Count would be Marquise, Duke, Grand Duke, Arch Duke, Viceroy, Royal Consorts, Prince, King and finally Emperor. This of course is just looking at the male side of things.

  • @Schwaltzvald It was more a joke than a real question. And the actual answer is that its a literary technique used to make vampires seem noble regardless of the fact that they are actually parasites. Giving them powers, money, looks and/or nobility makes people desire to be vampires and thus they want to read, watch or buy anything to do with them. Thus it is simply a way to seperate them from us a little more and make us covet them even more.

  • @troub1eshooting Welp I can't say I didn't learn anything now can I

  • I'm so glad this is still on youtube. Its one of the classics that made me love anime, along with Fist of the North Star and Akira. Don't ever delete this!! Ever!!

  • A classic

  • if its in the future...why is she using a machine gun from ww2...myth busted

  • @Sandeagledhorn Yea, a gun that shoots lasers. They definitely had those during World War II. -_-;

  • @ilovemyman001 @Sandeagledhorn

A machine gun that shoots lasers? Insert bad american joke here

  • @kayele LOL. XD

  • poor luke

  • 9:39 Most badass head-turning noise of all time.

  • @GregoryDMoore Also my favorite part of all anime ever.

  • Love this movie!!! The books were amazing too!

  • That Heidi lookin' girl needs some gah-damn clothes on, we can see her bloomers! Ain't she tryin' to kill vampires, lol

  • OMG a old school dirty anime :))) BEST!!!

  • @SarrasiHope the more you watch the more you'll like her. ^_^

  • I still have a major fangirl crush on D several years later.

  • @LadyVanHelsing713 Me too LOL.

  • @LadyVanHelsing713 I got one on him too, and I'm a straight male.

  • Is she probably Sonia Belmont?

  • why is she hunting raptors in a miniskirt.... fuck it its japan i probley shouldnt ask

  • I guess it helps her in her missiion, vampires are lustful creatures

  • @Antspray1

Well I have been hunting wearing only an pyjama. Its not like you have time to dress up if you happen to spot fresh raptor tracks in your neighbourhood.

  • @Antspray1 why such negative about japan, gio fuck yourself, Bitcfh

  • wat kind of outfit is she wearing!?

  • @lindav20

thnk u 4 uploadn this ive bn waitin 4 this i saw it n another language im glad i found it n english =~

  • this film would have been much better if they kept the art detail they used during its opening scene. went more cartoonish after this sequence, something i like more about bloodlust that maintained the same image throughout the entire movie.

  • ok Bloodlust is WAY better :|

  • scratch that last comment she sucks

  • hmmm this girl seems to be kick ass.... she MIGHT be D's pairing.... . nah HE'S MINE!!!! <3

  • 9 vampires dislike this movie.

  • @Mandy3735 do you mean the ones that sparkly in the sunlight or the others? I can't see how a real vampire would hate this movie

  • @ThinkingRebal Probably both. I don't think they'd like being impailed by D's sword.

  • For some reason i thought this movie was on Itunes. Now, I'm not sure. Could someone help? Other then that, good movie

  • I always assumed D stood for either Dhampir or Dracul.

  • wow even the horse have evil eyes

  • "Visitors from the past shall return to the darkness whence they came."

    "Such transient guests are we."

    "You are my only success."

I wonder one thing - what is D's True Name? He refuses to use it, opting to use only the first letter.

  • @NicholasGeschke i think it's short for "Da Man"...sorry, bad joke...u think it has something to do with Dracula?

  • Does anyone know why in this movie they call D a "dampeal" and in the 2nd movie they call him "dunpeal?" The books clearly say dhampir. (I know I probably spelled those words totally wrong...)

  • @HoppingCrowJen i just think ur hearing the movie wrong. before i started looking into some vampire things, i used to think they were calling him a dunpeal. it's just that dhampir is pronounced with the "i" having an "e" sound

  • love this shit, that hoe jumped like a telephone pole high for that lame attempt of a whip move at d

  • Running in the dark, fighting monsters in a tiny mini-skirt with a big ass gun. Really, this isn't any different from the tons of monster movies already out.

  • The movie differs from the novel on many accounts, but it remains one of my favorite Vampire movies.

D is a Dhampir - a half Human, half Vampire hybrid. He is heavily implied to be the son of the Vampire King - Dracula.

I know part of his appeal is the fact that he's mysterious - much of his past remaining unknown, but I can't help but wonder - just what are his origins?

  • were the hell did she get a shotgun like that

  • Creepy, Chilling, Scary but yet even better than Twilight! Screw you, Edward!

  • Anyone else see this on Sci-Fi "Saturday Anime" back in the day???? :D:D

  • Comment removed

  • @thorigrimm oh yeah!

  • I especially like the music that plays at the beginning. Quite creepy and suspenseful.

  • Great movie. I haven't seen this movie in quite a while now. But I still remember it quite vividly. This and Bloodlust are classics.

  • I have but one problem with the movies:

D came out to thin in the.

In the novels he's described as "powerfully built".

But Ah, these were the days.

  • Damn man, they really got it out for Luke...

  • that vampire is.. FUCKING HUGE!!!

  • if you double tapped in the first place luke would still be alive bitch

  • Ah... 80's anime, back when it was about violence and panty-shots. Anime today and their large breasts, pft.

  • i wonder how this movie would b like if the voice acting were in japanese. hmm.

  • what the heck

  • the music in the beggining sounds like the music from nightmare on elm st

  • Fun movie, definalty. Could have worked on the plot, plus the ending could have been better. B+ film, wish more were like it.

  • Wasn't Doris supposed to have this flowing, long black hair and a soft, narrow face? I don't remember where it said in the book that she was a pigtailed red-head with a fat face.

    Just saying.

  • i just want to push her eyes furhter toward eachother

  • She need a ass

  • Excuse my language by the way i know some of you will flag cuz of it

  • IN the Manga She takes off her clothes and lookd fine as fuck her she looks like a hillnbilly this is no fun!

  • @ninjadude1021 Yeah thats how it needs to be lol

  • Worst dub, but good movie.

  • ohh...she is brave enough to hunt alone in the dark....

  • there's prob. nowhere i can watch this in japanese audio?;---; i really _hate_ the eng dub.

  • This anime is so stupid it's brilliant XD

  • Who the hell hunts at night in a mini skirt?

  • @southboy99

It depends what u hunt...if u hunt pervert vampire sickos..

Try ypor luck in fatigues :D

  • its been a year since i watched this that was when i started youtube so i could watch the whole movie since doris had to get naked but because of this movie i am now a youtube nerd which i am happy of.

  • This is what Stephen Sommers ridiculous version of the Van Helsing should have been like as a an action hero. A guy who just does his job and never speaks unless it's necessary as opposed to just going on and on about how awesome he is despite the fact he gets massacred throughout the movie. Seriously guys like D, Peter Cushing's Van Helsing and Roddy McDowall's Peter Vincent make that guy look ridiculous. The vampires in this are FAR less campy than the ones in that movie as well dubed or not.

  • my sis can't stop talking abt this anime... so decided to watch this anime just to see if its awesome... yes, its awesome... (Y)

  • Awesome, gory, trippy, sexy anime! THIS IS ANIME!

  • now this is what vamps are supposed to look like, fuck you twilight

  • @001hellcat1 A-fucking-men!! Vampires don't $#%@ Sparkle dammit

  • Comment removed

  • @001hellcat1 THANK YOU! finally!

  • @001hellcat1 fuck yeah man. this shit here is the real deal

  • First saw this when I was a boy, been a fan ever since. Thanks for uploading this!

  • Thank you for uploading this! Netflix doesn't have it and it made things harder for me.

  • HELP ME and U CAN SLEEP WITH ME !!!

  • Dracula...seriously, there has to be a better way to pick up chick than seeking blood thirsty demons to slaughter your crush's horse and animal companion...try a pick up line. (VHD still an awesome anime then, and still is!)

  • Doris Lang looks like a cheerleader on acid in the first scene

  • I wish dubbed anime still sounded like this.

  • eh its a cult anime and the creator had very little to do with it... either like it or hate it, personally i enjoy it, though be it the animation is crappy but it was the 80's... that's more than a good enough excuse. with regan in office honestly animation was the last of the world's worries...

  • i loved the books, but this is just plain awful. i mean, whats with there voices, they sound like robots.

  • when i saw this as a little girl....there was no other man in my thoughts but D.

  • hunting my mechanical horse is so awesome!

  • man the guy accent is just killing me lol

  • Thank you for posting this video. I love this move, better than the sequel, Bloodlust.

  • Ahh the dialogue, and animation! It burns!!! Far inferior to the books and the other film 'Bloodlust'.

  • I didn't even know there was a book. nice info

  • 1985 was a fun year for vampire movies like this, Fright Night, Once Bitten and Lifeforce.

  • i still dont get why the girl alway wear something of little protection but dont get hurt

  • why is it always mini-skirts?

  • @Inumiko1= Ask the animators. I guess they wouldn't sell the movie if Doris was dressed up like a protestant housewife.

  • @vigo894 In the book she was naked when she met D first time. So i guess the bosses made animator dress her, not undress.

  • doris shouldn't look like that....

  • ok if you think D is not hawt then your crazy.

  • I'm been dying to watch this for a long time! Thank you so much!

  • I like when the count starts taking and Doris looks at him with a blank expression like she just doesn't know what to do at that point.

  • The mutant just wanted to eat some fruit dang! lol

  • wow one of my favorite anime movies ever

  • wth, why does doris look like a seven year old? i just finished reading the first book, and she's compared to venus, the roman goddess of beauty... so why does she look so young? that's kind of a downer

  • prefer D's voice in bloodlust

  • watch?v=kxzhhRDLEfs

  • Back when i was in four grade my best friend lend me this movie it was the first anime I ever saw... thanks zero

  • watch?v=iJHrhC9IzEU

  • This is very different from the manga version.

  • Man, I remember having this on VHS back when I was younger. Brings back memories

  • This is a stupid question but why are Vampire Hunter D and Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust so different in their animation? Different directors? :-) Thank you advance.

  • @deathheadmoth21

Probably because this was made back in the 80's when people were still using hand-drawn cels as opposed to CG. Animation techniques have improved quite a bit over 20 years.

  • i didn't know that this was the first of the two movies so i watched the second one first and it was awesome so i hope this is too XD

  • thanks for posting - I am a fan of the newer film but haven't gotten to see this one yet.

  • Totally grateful for the chance to see this :) I do dislike it though, I'm not a fan of old animation at the best of times, but the voice acting is attrocious, especially the vampire! The mood/style is rather cliche too, it's more 'Dracula' than a steam-punk futuristic style that the "D" series tends to go for . . . ah well, it's a nice spin on it I guess.

  • @KinnikuMantaro

You understand this show is one of the first animated vampire movies, right? To say this is cliche is like saying the Godfather is just another gangster movie.. It's not. And this was before all the new-age of pretty boy vampires came around, so you can't blame the writers for making it feel more like "Dracula"... that's the point of the series. This movie is still the best animated vampire movies.. hella better than crap like Hellsing.

  • @badasscheater I understand that. The original novels were quite original in their own way, but - first or not - it draws far too much on old B-movies and classic horrors, it makes no attempt to distance itself from how the horror films of the 30's-60's styled themselves. I admire it's the first cartoon vampire movie, but this was the 80's, was it not? I think it should have strived for something more unique, like Bloodlust, the 2nd movie, did.

  • @KinnikuMantaro

You have to consider the time this was released. During the 80's, it's not like there was a wealth of ideas flying around for the writers to make an "original" (as you would put it) style movie. Again, that would be like you saying "Godfather is just another gangster movie." By that logic, Bloodlust isn't unique either. And the novels, minus a few plot points, were similar to the movies. So, saying it's original, but the movie that's based on it isn't, makes no sense.

  • @badasscheater I'm not criticising the plot, merely it's execution in movie format. "Godfather" may have been 'just another gangsta movie' had it been badly conveyed in the movie medium, and in my opinion "VHD" was badly conveyed and became 'just another vampire film'. The plot is practically the same as the novel, no doubt about it, but the novel doesn't use Romanian accents that remind you of "I vant to suck you vlood!" - good plot, but the style (visually and aurally) is cliche.

  • @KinnikuMantaro

Novel VHD and movie VHD both share similar themes. Bleak futuristic setting? Check. Land ruled by vampires? Check. "Western feel"? Check. There were some differences here and there regarding events, but the theme and execution remains largely unchanged. The Romanian accent is the ENGLISH dubbing. Saying the movie itself felt cliche 25 years after release is asinine. The only reason you can even sputter something is cliche is because movies like this came out.. years ago.

  • @KinnikuMantaro

You're entitled to your opinion, of course. if you didn't like VHD, that's fine. Nothing is perfect, However, saying VHD is cliche is like saying Dances with Wolves is cliche because you watched newer movies like Avatar and The Last Samurai, which share a similar plot. People often overuse the word cliche without understanding the root of the plot device used. Also, saying that Bloodlust is somehow unique but the original isn't is a pretty hilarious double standard.

  • @KinnikuMantaro Where you reading the same novel as I? The plot from the novel and the movie are very different, it may have the same concept but they are completely different. Doris is way more independent and beautiful and she is not as whiny in the novel also D is much more loving towards the Lang family in the novel and there are a lot of tender moments in the book. In this movie depiction, although I liked it it seemed dry in comparison of the novel!

  • @angelface132 I fully agree, but what I mean is that essentially it is the same events and close enough to be an accurate depiction. If you look at some films adapted from books or plays, like "My Fair Lady" or "Matilda", they change things to such an extent that its barely recogniseable, or the entire meaning/point is lost. I think the movies are more dry than their novel counterparts, but I still admire them for trying to stay true wherever possible. Some changes were neccessary though.

  • The original Japanese voices with English subtitles is waaaayyyy better.

  • my only problem with this movie is that theres so much speed lines otherwise its amazing

  • This girl needs to learn how to properly double tap.

  • Very old school, and badass. But c'mon.. the voices?

  • ok i know this is sterotypical but why in prytmutch evry anymei i see are the women always scantily clad withhug breasts?

  • This brought back memories. Thanks for uploading this!

  • was this based on the original comic book

  • @nellzia14336 No, it was based on the original novel
