J.S Bach Season: Concerto in D Minor for Two Violins: Adagio

i don't know much about classical music, but I'm willing to learn. Did Bach play this music? or did he only write the music? Is this how Bach sounded back then? Was it only him or was with a group of musicians? Was he the leader/(the person with the stick)?

@JinxOz bach could play the violin, the harpsichord and the organ. It probably sounded different than this, although similar. Solo works could be performed by just one musician, like say Bach, but orchestral pieces required, forgive my redundance, an orchestra of various players. In that time there was no conductor (guy with the stick) as we know know now.
