Because its a penalty to drop the gloves first. If an opposing player goads Boogaard into dropping his gloves, then doesnt drop his own, thats a 2min penalty on Boogaard. Boogaard's not stupid. Dude, this all started when the Ducks beat the Wild, handily, in 5 games last playoffs and Wild Fans immediately started whining about how the Ducks were "cheap" and "dirty". The apparently didnt watch games one, two, three, and five because Minnesota was every bit as physical as Anaheim. its funny, the ducks fans sit here and call boogaard cheap when they were by far the cheapest team in the playoffs last year. pronger with the elbows, may with the sucker punch, interference EVERY timne the wild dumped the puck in the zone. give me a fucking break. but i can't get too mad at them though, they are from cali with a very very small hockey mind. Because its a penalty to drop the gloves first. If an opposing player goads Boogaard into dropping his gloves, then doesnt drop his own, thats a 2min penalty on Boogaard. Boogaard's not stupid. He waits until the other guy drops his gloves, then drops his. Yes, he could just skate away and the opponent would get a penalty but thats not Boogaards role. His role is to fight and energize his team and intimidate his opponents.

How can you say no one in California knows anything about the sport? I PLAY the sport, and have been since early childhood. I LOVE this game, and I sure know a damn lot about it. I have been a Ducks fan since 1993.
It is amazing you can come out and generalize all people in Anaheim as ignorant, when you probably have never been there. What you definately don't know is that Anaheim is a small, traffic filled city, and probably about 5% of Ducks fans live in Anaheim.

Down 4-2 with 2 minutes left, most teams would have pulled the goaltender to get the 6th attacker on the ice and try to win the game. The Wild has scored 2-3 goals on the Ducks this year several times in just a few minutes. I wasnt suggesting they should replace him with another goalie.

I grew up in Wisconsin and played pond hockey, high schoool hockey, *and* college hockey at a pretty good hockey program (UW-Madison). Im also a Ducks fan since '93. Its just something we have to live with, this completely wrong headed assumption that all 30 million people in california were born on the beach. We have three pro hockey teams in CA, two of which are better than the Wild. Ih well, they are really making fools of themselves, not of us, when they say dumb shit like that.

Yeah, for the uneducated part: I got my high school grad two years ago and am studying since then. I'll become a teacher for IT-business and history as well as politics in about three years from now. Additionally, I worked for local government two years. Uneducated about Hockey? That's why I've been around rinks for > 10yrs, having a season ticket to the DEG Metro Stars and being able to play in the final for the German Cup in youth Inline-Hockey myself.
