The security guard's statement about a bank robber was dumb but I don't care about that. I only hope Jet Blue's lawyers more ruthless than this creep's.

I don't know if this was a fabricated test case or not, but the fact is he was told he had to change his shirt and sit somewhere else because it had arabic on it, so the issue is valid. He knew the effect his tee shirt would have on people sitting in the food court of a New York City airport two days after a terrorist attempt was thwarted over the Atlantic. Passengers were sitting there reading newspapers with headlines about the "shoe bomber". They were nervous and approached the authorities demanding they do something. The security guard's statement about a bank robber was dumb but I don't care about that. I only hope Jet Blue's lawyers more ruthless than this creep's.

I don't know if this was a fabricated test case or not, but the fact is he was told he had to change his shirt and sit somewhere else because it had arabic on it, so the issue is valid. It reminds me of a time someone on the right (I want to say Pat Robertson but not sure) complained about Lawrence v. Texas being planned by the ACLU, but so what if it was? You still need to decide whether the people involved should be put in jail or not.

Finally, the Jet Blue and TSA employees should have first asked him kindly if he COULD cover the shirt and explain to him why and if he doesn't, let him go about his way. If passengers don't like it, they should see if they could get them different seats of equal value. End of story. Unfortunately he was told to and moved to the back of the plane. Well, two wrongs don't make a right. For instance, is it right to payoff a CEO to leave the company? Often they get paid millions and do they deserve it? I doubt it. With this guy, he is getting money in a crooked way. Like those CEO's he isn't working for it. He's just getting paid off and does that money change discrimination? Probably not. Instead, use the money to educate employees on situations like these. Paying people through lawsuits is a temporary solution to a permanent problem.

If I wore a black t-shirt that read "Victory comes to the bold-hearted," or some other cryptic message, printed in English and Korean, I would be allowed to eat my packet of four peanuts and "enjoy" the flight.
What this boils down to is that the Arabic script itself is deemed threatening. And I'm very surprised that displaying this script is grounds for being removed from an airplane.

It's a stretch of the imagination to even consider "We will not be silent" a threat, veiled or otherwise.

Well, it didnt really get him "booted", they gave him the option to wear another shirt over it, & he took it. I mean, dont get me wrong, I think it was bias, but so was racialy profiling that one guy that had C4 in his shoes, & that saved the lives of everyone on the plane. I think they asked him to cover it out of fear that it would panic other passangers. It might be an extreme security measure, but nothing Id really wanna sue over.

They wont defend Sharia here because ACLU are for the separation of church and state. You are delusional. The ACLU defends anyone's rights from the terrorists in Gitmo to you, me, to the KKK, to a Baptist minister preaching on the streets. The ACLU are not some anti-US, anti-Christian group that many seem to think.

Instead of calling me naive, would you care to back up your claim? Like I said before the ACLU vehemently opposes the joining of church and state. Their supposed anti-Christian doctrine is false, they defend religious freedoms all the time, just Google: "ACLU fights for Christians" and you'll see court cases and political action protecting religious and speech rights. Before you call me naive sir, perhaps you should open your myopic little eyes and not take what the media spoon feeds you.

You've refuted nothing. There are POWs in Guantanamo Bay that our gov't calls "terrorists" which has become a label for anyone against the US. You don't have the right to not be offended, I never equated it to freedom of speech, and I'm not sure what that has to do with this or why you brought it up. If we ban everything offensive -which is subjective- that would be censorship. You've done nothing to support your assertion that the ACLU would defend Sharia in the US.
