Natureheroes22: Since they are from the MGM film canon, longevity is for them. Ditto for spin-offs, as "Wicked" (as a novel by MacGuire and a musical by Schwartz)--and its sequels--can attribute itself to the MGM film for inspiration, just as the film took liberties with Baum's literary classic.

@LovettSweeney Are you serious? OZ wasn't a dream. There were 14 books. That's crap from the MGM musical. The Wizard learns magic in the later books.
