Unless you are a strip worker then this movement don't pertain to you. I work underground and we have all notice a big jump in jobs ever since these "treehuggers" have been putting pressure on the strip jobs. I say HELL YEAH shut them all down, that's just more job security for me and all the other real coal miners.
Isn't mountain top removal the same as road construction and housing development and any other construction where the earth is disturbed. What would all of these people who do if roads were not built and they couldn't travel to their precious malls, restaurants, and vacation spots. Any time the earth is disturbed and it rains..well you do the math...dirt plus water equals mud or run off as the EPA puts it. Why can't everyone leave everyone else alone. These are God's mountains he here for us.
Mountain folk are tough as any I've met. I'll tell you this, the coal companies have no chance. These folks are my countymen,my kinsmen and are the finest friends anyone could want, but don't piss 'em off ,you'll just go missing! Remember march on Kings mountain!
If you don't like the mountains GET OUT! Simple as that, leave OUR mountains alone. They ARE our mountains because God blessed our earth with them. If you want better jobs and flat land, golf courses and the like, move is California or Florida.
each person in this video that refers to the mountains being mined as "my or our mountains" are in fact, not owned by these people at all. These puppets are complaining about someone elses mountain being mined. Well, what if I just start complaining about the color of these people's houses or the type of car that they drive simply because I dont agree with it? This issue is a property rights issue not an environmental issue. If you own a mountain and dont want it mined, then dont. Its your right
All fine and well, problem is the mess they leave behind for the people that do live in the region.
OK fine, I own a house and you live next door, zoning says I can have animals, so I move in a pig farm and a chicken rendering plant. Happy now? The problem of strip mining and these other methods of extraction is that they are not limited to some mythical white line surrounding the area owned by a corporation, the pollution spreads far and wide. Google 'Alberta oil sands'...
