the red fault light came on on the power supply, so it appears to ME that the digital board is faulting erroneously thinking its a thermal issue, because certain supplies didn't stay up long enough for the digital board to think anything different.
wouldn't be the first time ive seen this, more like the 500000th time. Just like a car registering a bunch of crazy codes, and it turns out to be a timing chain.
Your may be under the HV tranformer, you have a different revision of that PSU, it would be the smaller solid state capacitors, they could be silver in color on your PSU, also replaced the bigger 450v capacitors.
@DrMR2000 thanks for the reply, it is a revision made for JVC by Samsung. worst part is the manual I bought dosn't cover the SMPS board :( otherwise It would be a breeze to find the components.
there are 2 green flat ceramic wafers (rectangular) on the board you mentioned previously. I imagine they are the solid state ceramic caps.
It's the PSU, it made by Samsung, just got done fixing a Planar that uses the same parts with the same problem, it's on the HV side of the PSU, there a detector circuit for the HV side that uses 4 soildstate 22uf 25v caps green SMD goes bad, it the side card towards the middle top of the PSU , that will more likely fix your problem.
Also would replaced all the other caps while you are at it, due to they will later be problems, due to they low quality junk.
@DrMR2000 the board you refer to is called T-VS DRV? I see 2 large ish green flat rectangular ceramic components on it, are those the ones you refer too?
I have a 50inch plasma phillips tv 2005 model with ambiant light on the sides. Recently the menu started poping off & on at random now it just goes away for about 5 to 10 seconds when i use the remote but comes back on.CAN U HELP ME PLEASE!!!!
I got the same plasma as that and its got a problem with horizontal lines going across from left to right. Pulled the back off and found one of the buffer boards
( Lower- Left hand side) faulty, still trying to locate one for replacement with not much luck. Had a another look at the buffer board with a Magnifying glass and found one of the heat sinks has got a fine hairline crack on it, going to get around to soldering it one of these days. Any chance of a copy of the schematics. :)) ))
Oh the fun of finding the faulty components on the inverter board of a 42" LCD TV. Very common problem for an inverter to fail. There's around 20 inverters on a single board on a typical LCD TV that size, and any one of them can cause the entire board to shut down.
cool. i know it would be in that.lol its always that bit thats hard to get to. i did not clean under that. their was a lot of dust around that when i got it.
Hey, i also have this tv, and i have a flickering problem, it only seems to flicker when certain colours are displayed. Any advice?

@THEtechknight yeah I'll be doing the PSU caps when I get around to it. as some have suggested the little SMD electro's go often in these units.

I probably typed here too late or you already checked..... but the two 10V 3300uF caps?

@victorgloriamima I've never dealt with one of those sorry, It sounds like a faulty control board though.
