zYou cant tell by the video, but It shook the whole house. Ill tell you what really helps old fenders, Get a matched set of TUBE AMP DOCTOR 6l6-GC's. Best tubes Ive found as of yet.
Ummmm......is the Tubescreamer a modified one??? Just wondering about it. I try the fuzz with my Fender Twin and I think I like the drive a TS has....preferrably the Maxon OD-9. Man, that Showman is one of the prettiest ones I've ever seen too!!!! Good video.
No its not modified, although I did switch the chip, but it didnt make too much of a difference to me. Thanks it was an awesome showman, I bought it in pieces off of ebay. This guy actually tried to gut a classic blackface showman and rebuild it. Anyway he couldnt so I bought it, and rebuilt it with all nos parts, and the what was left of the original parts. I really kinda kick myself for selling it, it was way too loud for me, but it sure did have a great tone on 10.
I own a 1965 showman and i put some vintage RCA tubes in it and wow! tone is so sweet! I modified the cabinet also and I had another JBL-120F speaker! It's a 2x15 cabinet... pretty uncommon... lol. You can't imagine how it's loud when I plug my guitar in normal channel and that I run a cable from input 2 (norm. channel) to input 1 (vib. channel) and that I turned both volume knobs at ten! It provides more gain and volume then only with 1 channel.
How about it! haha. I love Showmen. I had the great privelidge of playing a Les Paul through one at Guitar Center. Needless to say, it was magic and a half.
