That's not correct. Some photon emission changes humans (or sensors) can "see" in about 8 minutes (speed of light). But changes like CMEs where mass is involved can take hours or even days to get here as such do NOT travel at the speed of light.
It also depends on where on the sun an event occurred. It might never even affect or be visible from the earth.
