The Traveling Liberty Bell will be in Branson Missouri this week to honor our Veterans at the Veteran's Home Coming Week! Hope to see you there~ see R3publican[dot]com for more information
I, too am a veteran... and I've ridden with the Patriot Guard Riders on 3 rides now. Two in Louisiana to honor recently fallen soldiers and one to escort the Vietnam Wall on part of it's journey across the panhandle of Florida on it's journey across America. While the bell was not a part of the two services in Louisiana, (I wish they had been), the Ten Commandments most definitely belong right beside that bell. Our country was founded on the principles of Christianity, NO other faith.
Scrosnoe, thank you for posting this. It is deeply touching - and I think the Ten Commandments are very appropriate next to this replica of the Liberty Bell. Our founding fathers were God fearing men, but sadly, that is no longer being taught...
My daughter is serving in the Navy, and this video brought tears to my eyes.
Thank you for YOUR service to the fallen soldiers whose funerals you attend... God bless you!
The man I mentioned is Frank Buckles, and he is 109 years old now. He lived on a farm about 600 feet off the highway. We lined the drive with flags when he came home from his haircut. He didn't walk at all that day, but he begged for a ride in one of the motorcycle side cars. Two guys lifted him in and away the old guy went. He was ecstatic. When they came back people asked if he liked the ride, he said. "We didn't go fast enough." He rode motorcycles in WW I. The bell was incredible..
I had no idea the bell would be in WV when Patriot Guard honored a man for his service. He was having a 105 year birthday. The man had served in WW I after lying about his age. Delivered messages and later chauffeured Gen. Pershing. During WW II he was a civilian in the Philippines, was captured by Japanese and became a POW. There must have been 150 PG riders there and even more flags. Amazing. I got to ring that bell. Awesome.
ok, it is wonderful that he does this....but the 10 Commandments have no place there, as not everyone is of that faith....THAT bothers me.
And as to the comment below, "we only go where we are invited".....hello? Let me knbow when the shuttle lands. We were not invited to Iraq. And Vietnam was dumped on us by the French....
I am a Vet, and am proud to have served my country. I was one of the lucky ones, I am still here.
@Fenwyck it is possible to honor soldiers and our fallen without being in favor of the undeclared 'war' on terror; my comment here about going where invited was in reference to the bell and where the bell goes.
The Ten Commandments belong with the bell because without properly embracing moral law there is no real liberty. Our Creator knows what is best for us and lovingly gave us the law as a schoolmaster in order that we might know of our need for Him. If you want real freedom; embrace Him
@Fenwyck I very humbly thank you for your service.
Regarding the Ten Commandments, you note that "not everyone is of that faith". Don't the Commandments align with the value system on which this country was founded, which is Judeo-Christian? Their inclusion with the Bell seems very fitting and embraces no specific denomination or particular church.
Some of us would argue that it is the effort to divorce our society from such underpinnings that have led us into grave trouble.
Thankyou for the post...and I will still thank everyone for their service as I respect that individual for what big or little sacrifice they made. God Bless you and May you have the blessing and not the curse Amen! Something good is hoped for out of something ugly !
As a veteran...I am deeply disturbed by the consistent lack of knowledge that I come across everytime someone wants to thank me for my service...I ask what service? Was I really protecting our freedom being sent overseas to fight a war over the financial prospects and imperialistic control our wonderful bankers lust after? Why do we americans still believe these phony wars have anything to do with freedom? It's about time now we stop being automatrons and start educating ourselves.
@KrigareavGud I understand, but my thanks is to show my appreciation for the sacrifice that you ARE/(were) willing to make, regardless of the merit of the reason to be in a stituation. You are FAR more brave, and more of a man (or woman) than MOST of our people in political power.
Real freedom from the bondage of sin and death comes from understanding that the law was given as a school master and who the son of man sets free is free indeed.
Freedom after all isn't really free now is it; it is absolutely priceless!
To the troops coming from or going to the sandbox, this old vet salutes you. To my fellow Veterans, thank you for your service and to Veterans of Vietnam, Welcome home, My brothers.
Mr. Hall, you are a true Patriot, Sir! Thank you from a Patriot and Patriot Guard Rider. I salute you. You may not be a Veteran but you serve in your own way to honor our war dead, perhaps more so than many of our Veterans or self proclaimed Patriots. God Bless You and the USA
To all Veterans here, I say thank you. You and your fallen brothers are the supreme representation of the final words of our magnificent founding document;— And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.
Thank you Mr.Hall for your selfless example of true American patriotism, and love tor these, our fallen heroes. May God Bless America, again.
I just hope that this guy can see or has read the responses here. I wish more Americans were like this guy where most of us are looking for what we can get for free. This guy out of the kindness of his heart is simply giving. Dont know what it is that motivates you but (GOD BLESS YOU). And thank you very much
As an American and Combat Veteran, I salute you Mr. Hall. Thank you for your patriotism and committment to honoring those that have sacrificed for the freedoms we all enjoy.
Amen, and no usurper in chief can ever remove this fact from our heritage.. Your words need to be shouted from the rooftops in every city across our blessed land..
"For whom does the bell toll? It tolls for thee... " The words of John Donne, written so many years ago, embody the heartfelt acknowledgment that each of us will someday meet our end. To have the lives of our soldiers commemmorated in such an awesome and reverent way is a balm to the hearts of the bereaved. Thank you, Mr. Hall, for your service to those who serve.
David Hall- Thank you for the support you give. How many other American's do this for their fellow American's? Thank you for your time, effort, patriotism, and compassion for a fallen comrade. God bless America.
thiznametaken: You are an ignorant, arrogant, pig headed moron. Somebody should drop you in the middle of Afghanistan and let you try to survive... Then you MAY have some appreciation of the freedom that these med and women died to give you.
Please add comments about what the liberty bell has meant to you - I think that something "cracks" for liberty every time the bell tolls. It is important to ring the bell when you have the opportunity to do so. This Liberty Bell honors our fallen heroes often and was present for both of my parents graveside memorials. David Hall is tireless in his effort to serve the Lord and minister to many in times of great distress and loss and pain. The Liberty Bell tolls for liberty and justice for all.
America needs more people who value duty, honor and country as do those servicemen who sacrificed their lives. We need less of the anti-social bickering that is evident in the posts here. This shows nothing but a lack of maturity and respect on their parts.
I have deleted the rude comments and vile language in this thread. Thanks to all who commented about them and notice to all that that was done. I saw no constructive reason to leave them here. Thank you for your comment in that vein as well!/sc
God Bless each and every man and woman (past, present and future) who serve this Great Nation and who do so without hesitation and with complete selflessness! This man is among the most honorable people I have ever seen. God Bless him and those who's lives were lost and his bell tolls.
We should all fight for what America really stands for - not for what is being pushed down upons us by our current leaders.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL THAT SUPPORT OUR TROOPS.....very honorable! I visited the Liberty Bell in Pa years ago, I was VERY disappointed. The area surrounding it was un-groomed and very much in disarray.
Thank you for coming to my brothers funeral in El Paso, Texas...Stg. Jaime Gonzalez. God Bless you and all you do to remember those who gave their lives.
David Hall is a good man, and a true patriot. Special thanks to him for *everyone* he honors and remembers with his traveling liberty bell. The sound of that bell will be with me forever.
