@richardelam100 They can go much faster, but I try to train them to pace themselves, I am more interested in being able to maintain a steady pace rather then sprinting. Many times I am traveling in thick trees, and at high speed things can happen pretty quick.
@logcabinlooms At high speeds things tend to happen too quickly for me too. How do you get your dogs to pace themselves? We had a couple of dogs when I was a kid and it seemed their only forward gear was GO!!! They didn't pull sleds or anything, but I'm sure they could have. Maybe do a video on dog training so we can see.
nice vid. "I missed the sled and i took them back to where they left me" hahaha Do you think they learned? lol I really enjoyed the sled ride. Thanks!
I would love to try this. Last time I was pulled by a dog was age of 5. Big brother hooked up a wagon to Samson our mixed breed size of a pony dog to it me in the wagon and went up the road a piece and called for him. It was going good until a stupid rabbit decided to cross the road Samson being Samson gave chase pulling me behind screaming for my life and my brother screaming for him to stop. Oh that was so much fun. NOT!!!! LOL
@Buckrun11 I have ten at the moment, but you have to be carefull about who runs with who, some of them have grudges against others so it gets pretty political at times.
@Buckrun11 It depends on the conditions, but I have much larger dogs then most people, I don't usualy run two, three is the least amount that works well, five is great, seven if its hard going. I can run more, but its usualy not needed, and the more you have the harder they can be to hold back. I try to teach them to pace themselves so they don't wear themselves out right away. But it seems like no matter how tired out they get they like to make the last bit home fast, and end with style.
Looks fun. How fast would 7 dogs pull your sled? Probably too fast for me. Anything much faster than walking speed is too fast for me.
