Haha, it sure sounded like they smoked weed instead of practicing. I love the weed too but that's NEVER a good idea.
Sure GZA's one of the greats -- that's why this so-called collaboration was so disappointing! If you love music, you can't embrace someone with talent when they slack off like that.
GZA rules. Living in The World Today is one of the best tracks on Liquid Swords and The Black Lips are one of my favourite bands. However this just sucks!

Really? You guys think this is the shit? His rapping doesn't have much going on, lots of "yes yes y'all", the music's nothing special either, like they improvised a jazzy backdrop, not awful but kind of open-mike amateur. Not as sucky as Emo's show but not very enticing overall. Like they all got really high and thought this was a good idea. But be honest, unless YOU'RE really high, or you just like to rave about any hip hop or Black Lips show, it's really not all that groundbreaking, is it?!!!
#1. I'm female, don't you think women can hold a religious title besides "sister"? #2, wow, gettin' violent over a different opinion about music, you ought to join the army or something to relieve that aggression! #3 Using Faggot as an Insult is so 90's man, you're too high #4 I was there and I heard it and whatever you think about them outside of that performance, THEY SOUNDED SHITTY THAT NIGHT. Even the best performer isn't great all the time. Get over it!
This was part of the Dickies Battle of The Bands. GZA, No Age and BrooklynVegan were judging. It was a crazy day! GZA + Black Lips killed it for sure.
for video, i only have these 4 clips. got there during liquid swords, but i'm not sure how many other songs we missed. i was at a coffee place, Mozart's, not so far away and read about this show on twitter like 5 minutes before it started. Wu cancelled playing with Rage Against the Machine in Austin many years ago (96/97?) and i'd never gotten the chance to see anyone till now. It was great, though short. Liquid Swords audio is more private conversation than music, otherwise i'd share it too.
Yeah, exactly, that's what I'm sayin'!!!
