  • I picked up a 81 250 about 4 months ago. Original owner. All original manuals ect it was MINT. Totally rebuilt motor. Left side kick as it was a 250. TON of compression and power. And had a title. Didnt make a video only pics. All i did to it was set the timing. Paid $300. Sold for $1600 to some guys who shipped it to austrailia.

  • check the water pump lol

  • Warm it up!!

  • dont touch the pipe touch the jug it takes way more time to cool off then the pipe

  • Just to let you know, the last year of the elsinore is the 1980 Cr125, 1981 and up were water cooled and no longer elsinores( air cooled), anyways cool bike.

  • @M0T0RID3R559 The last "Elsinore" is the 1981 water-cooled model. Says Elsinore right on the "CR125 sticker" on both side number plates. .

  • I have the same bike. Got it for $200 and I need a clutch lever, front brake lever, throttle side foot peg, and rear brake shoes.

Mine starts great too. I wasn't sure how long it had been since it ran when i got it, and I don't know if the guy I bought it from did either. Poured some gas in the tank and I think it took two kicks.

So what do you mix the gas at? I've had some people tell me around 32:1, but these are people who don't own an 81 cr125, so I figured you would know.

  • @xyzabc1894 try 40:1 thats what i mix in my 81 cr125 and it runs great if you ever have the motor apart seeing as you can get top end stuff from wiseco port the jug while your at it youll have way more power

  • well you never let it warm up

i would have given it an actual full 5 minutes of soft reving with a bike of that age.

    and put a helmet on.

  • nice i have a 81 cr 80 in the proses of restoretion

  • sounds as sweet as a new bike! worth a mint in that original good condition. plus, 1 owner. id let her warm for 2-3mins though as you end up with a cold seizure otherwise. vintage mx are beautiful, honda are among the nicest.

  • how the hell do you get it to start that easily mine take like 8 kicks to start it and that was off a fresh rebuild and the timing on mine is perfect and everything

  • that is a realy realy nice bike

  • Badass! So nice I'd park it in the house man. Those red-motor hondas really had a cool sound. I sure miss my 81 CR250-sold it for $800 bucks to an idiot who caned it like a rented mule on lean mix and chunked the piston. Keep the old bikes alive gentlemen and remember; Mixed gas is fast!

  • Saweet, I just scored a 81 125 for $50, it is in pieces, but not for long.

  • very interesting i jus got an 81 125 elsonor for 300 bux needs a crank and i have it on order its in jus as good a shape it sat for years in a barn an i jus got it today its all origonall and is in jus as nice a shape cosmetically im pretty happy with it it should be running soon hope it sounds as good as urs CHEERS!

  • Beautiful bike but if that was really a cold start you should let her warm up a little longer you only let it run for like 20 seconds, good way to screw up a good motor

  • umm no it wont screw it up ive been riding them my whole life an never blew one up.when u hold it to the nutz for to long they screw up but a simple start an run wont have u blow an engine doing that ?

  • Its better to let lem warm up,til the jug is warm and take it easy for a while before you get on it!!!

  • Wow! My dad has an '81. It has an aftermarket front number plate, seat cover for an '84, and needs to be re-sleeved. He had some carb problems and put a carb from an '84 CR250 on it, but I'm not sure if it's still on there. Talk about a NICE pwerband though! Even with the worn out sleeve he outran me on my '83 RM125. My sister was riding with him too. Of course, I was on a Suzuki though so maybe that wasn't so impressive, even if I did only way about 120 lbs.

  • This video made me smile. Thank you for sharing your bike. I had a brand new 1981 and just loved it.

Not only does Honda build reliability, they also build great-looking bikes--CRs.

I envy you.... wish this bike was in my yard. Lucky you. NICE BIKE!!!!

  • nice:)))))))

    don't fall lol

  • omg thats the same year as my dads old kx that he always tells me about thats amazing that its still running. but i thought the 1981 models came in air cooled?

  • 1980 was the last year for air-cooled 125 and 250 CRs.

Honda introduced many new advances in 1981 for their 125 and 250 CRs -- water-cooled engines and Pro-Link single shock suspension.

The 1981 CR80R remained air-cooled and twin shocked. Honda's first big bore production bike, the CR450R, was also air-cooled but had Pro-Link suspention.

1981 was also the last year for the Elsinore name.

  • ohh ik like half way through 1981 they started using water cooled
