6:43 James Cameron did just that with Avatar. He captured the World's imagination and he didn't have to go into Outerspace to do it. Movies That Shook The World. Avatar.
You ve got to be kidding. Avatar was one of them ost overrated overhyped movies of all time, in that sense yes, you can argue that avatar shook the world with just how lowpeoples opinions of film has shrunk. Its a phallacy toe ven mention avatar and 2001 in the same sentence. Avatar is a typical hollywood movie,which I personally despise.
I personnel love Avatar, and i also love this film. Avatar has a great sense and story and depth. Maybe you just couldn't look deep into the film because of the hype. I knew nothing of the film until the week i saw it, and i thought it was gonna be the classic Hollywood film. And i was surprised that it wasn't. The problem with this film is the artsy fartsy part to it connection to the hippie loser movement. The book is far superior to this film.
@Colton5 didnt know it was part of a triology. but please in this part, you cannot argue that it has a great story or depth because its such a regurgitated story. its the oldest story in the book dude. We've basically seen that movie like 15 times, most likely more, the difference in this movie is that its on another planet and... etc. they're nuances but basically the same boring story.i was so angryi could tell exactly what happened when i was watching, when i thought it would be original
@Colton5 Avatar was shallow and pretentious. Comparing it to 2001 is an absurd thing to do as the narrative of Avatar is stratightforward...everything is on the screen. There is no deeper meaning and any symbolism used is so obvious as to be vulgar. There is nothing to see if one looks deep into Avatar. There is no depth. It is a simple story told in simple fashion. Pure eye candy, and little else. Once you build a mental library of a few thousand good films you may realize this.
@rdecredico how old are you first of all? and second, i may have seen more films of different genres and mediums then you have. Just because a film leaves little or no information to the viewer doesn't make it a good film. Odyssey is a great Sci/fi art film, but it's not the best film ever. Because there is no such thing. and no true shallow films are prequel star wars, The 2 new James Bond films, The bourne series, Transformers and The Last Airbender.

@PapagenoJuan2 Avatar isn't quite realistic... It's good, but it's not realistic.

@MrBummelum
That doesn't matter. Avatar feels more real than many other sci-fi films, especially of the 2001 era.
LukeLovesRose 1 year ago
@LukeLovesRose I respectfully disagree. In my opinion, If you want a sci-fi that feels real without being realistic, watch Cloverfield :P

I wasn't comparing the films. Obviously 2001 is far superior. I'm not a huge Avatar.

Remember Avatar is part 1 of a 3 part story
