  • @davidgudd ... are you kidding me?

  • beautiful!!!

  • Awesome

  • thanks so very much for posting this!!!!! i love this song! it means a lot to me! it got me through some really hard times!!! i love this! :D

  • Wow!!!! Unbelievable!!!! This sound is so REFRESHING to my mind and soul.

It removes all my problems and stress while studying the "History of the Recorder"

    I Like this video........Il subscribe:D

  • i am going to play this for mid state

  • my Korean classmate used to play this :)

  • THIS IS AWSOME!

  • I love Pachabel's Cannon, no matter what it is played upon although String Quartet probably my favourite. But to play this on a flute, the breathing must be so controlled, and I congratulate any flautist who can play this in such a fluid manner..

    Amazing performance

  • Amo esta interpretación por Galway

  • This is soooooo lovely! I've been playing the flute for over nine years and I'm not worth a speck of dust in comparison to him. James Galway is absolutely amazing!!!!

  • this is beautiful tone! this is my 5th year playing the flute and I have this piece. the fast and high part gives me a slight bit of issue since I'm use to playing quietly, and you can't really do that with high notes. ^.^

  • @Angelic7Vampire accidental thumbs down sorry D:

  • @xambrulesx it's ok. ^.^ mistakes happen.

  • I agree with Rickyfan- I've only been doing flute for 3 years; since Middle school, but looking at the flute music it is not THAT hard, but to get good dynamics, breathing, and tone takes a lot of experience and practice.

  • this is really good.. where can i get the music sheet for the flute?

  • That's a beautiful sound.............

  • beautiful!

  • Galway is god... period

  • agreed! agreed!

  • sounds gud, but it is a little faster than it shud b

  • the original is actually a lil' speedier than the normal, slower version that most people here.

  • WHat a beautiful piece!! Just a question, how good do u think u need 2 be to be able to play this song?

  • well i've been playing for a year...and i was accepted into the northern california honor band...and this is one of our music pieces....it's not the same of course but it is a beautiful song...so i'm guessing probably intermediate/advanced skill level---High School Level/ College Level? Hope this was of some help to you ^.^

  • Actually, having been a flautist for 21 years, I would say that you'd have to be somewhat more experienced than that. The reason is that a lot of people see that a song is somewhat simple in notation and they forget the amount of work it will take to produce a really good tone on the flute, to have good breath control and good control of the dynamics. I'm not saying it can't be done--I would encourage anyone to learn to play this piece--but I am saying it's not to be taken lightly.

  • most beautiful song ever, great job

    muiy buen sonido!

  • wow nice job! looove this

  • I love how you changed the octavs with those 16ths. You also have a beautiful expression and interpretation with this song. What version are you using.

    5/5

  • This is internationally renowned flutist James Galway playing... I hardly think he needs direction from you.

  • @kyblueeyes85

Quite agree: Incidentally, are you aware that he came to light by accident on a programme called "Oppourtunity Knocks" hosted by the irritating Huey Green. On that he played "Annies Song", by John Denver.

He transcribed it himself, and within a month had a recording contract; a week later it hit no1 on the UK top 40 (in those days no mean feat).

Incredible man and so modest with it.

  • @kyblueeyes85 I almost always find the comments people leave amusing, especially when they try to advise professionals (such as Galway) what they should do; and I completely agree with kyblueeyes's comment

Stick to advising those that need it!

  • My Flute is signed by James and Jeannie Galway! :D

  • Ah! You are SO lucky! ^_^

  • Awesome!!!

  • im trying to play this on my flute and its really really hard!!!!

  • i know right? esp the fast bit!

  • Sir James is the best flutist I`ve ever seen. He`s something out of this world. I hope some day I could play half as beautifull as him

  • UR AWESOME!!!

  • This is terrific. I'm not kiddin', this is like the best canon ever.

  • I love the sound I just don't like this version.. too fast a tempo and for such a fast tempo he focusses a little much on how to put this lengthening parts that need to be shorter.. but he does connect the phrases very smoothly XD

  • OMG that was so good!! I'm in elementary school and the 16th notes r hard!!! But, If you can do it, I can Try!! Thx 4 the inspiration

  • LOL I've played Flute for 13 years and believe me things will get much harder sixteenth notes are easy once you can FEEL how long they last but heres the trick pieces will grow hrder for you so gradually you'll look back at the music you play today and laugh.

  • magnifique !!

  • wow!!!

  • i love this as well, its so beautiful

  • I love its!

  • this is my fave version

of course i love the one with the strings as the main instrument, or the entire orchestra, but the flute has a strange calming effect.

It makes me feel as if I have been pulled back to the early 1900's. Big dresses, and balls and dancing, gloves and hats.....

    Wonderful version

  • Very beautiful. This version I'm looking for. Have you got the sheet music of this version on the compute or anywhere else? I'm really looking forward to play it myself.

Can you please please please sent it to me??

    Greetings Elja

  • magnificent. ^_^

  • Absolutely amazing! :D

  • OMG this is Beautiful...

  • I want to play this song on my flute, too, but my teacher says i must wait for christmas... i love canon, its my favourite song, and these fluteplayers play very beautiful

  • It's so beautiful! :D

  • he's amazing!!! this is the best version of Canon I've heard so far...

The more I listen to this, the more I wanna learn how to play the flute!!!

  • I think Rexicano had better change the sound card in his computer. This man is one of the best flute players in the world. The number people who try to imitate Galway's Vibrato and fail miserably is phenomenal. You can spot his superb tone as being distinct from any other flute player in the world.

  • Yeah, distinctive as in overdone; do a little research...I'm far from being the only one who thinks he's awful. There are PLANTY of flutists who play better than him. He ruins Bach with that horrible vibrato. Rampal, Marion, Hubert Laws...all better. Thanks for the ignorant hyperbole. You seem to like the cotton candy approach to music rather than subtlety. I don't know a single flutist imitating Galway's vibrato and I have been at the flute since before you were born. You must love Kitsch.

  • ....no comment

  • Then why comment at all?

Go back to listening to your Metal music. You simply lack the experience to know anything about Baroque Music.

  • "Go back to listening to your Metal music" ???

WHAT'S YOUR PROBLEM DUDE?!Metal is a very good music!

    pfffff...you suck

  • just love canon on the flute, simply amazing..

  • Very, very good! I love it!

  • Oh, I'd love to play this on my flute... I can't seem to find the sheet music for it, though..

  • omg...i almost cried! it's beautiful!!!

  • I WISH I COULD PLAY THAT WELL

    its brilliant

we played this in my flute choir

    :D

  • me encanta esta versión!

  • Sound coming from the peaceful thoughts inside one's clear heart...... Awesome! Yeah!

  • this is the most awesome song ever! im going to teach myself how to play this on my flute!

  • very nice.

    its very soothing

  • This is a great rendition of the song. Nothing less from James Galway. =) Too bad no one has any videos up of his Four Seasons rendition. I used to listen to the cassette as a kid, and I loved it.

  • Bellisima, Como nuestra tierra..Un bikiño.Galiza Calidade jajajajaja.

  • yeah the james is cool,,but y think that the jean -pierre rampal is the best

  • sir james is the coolest.
