  • That's badass

  • DA CAWDIX ASTARTIZ NAEMS DIS MANEUVAH STEEHL REIN!

  • Steel rain baby 94p

  • American ingenuity at its best

  • 10 MLRS = 1 Smerch

  • these are M270 MLRS vehicles... they are acutally modified Bradley Chasises... I was a 13P in the US Army and i can say that the reason they are seeming to fire in all directions is not a mistake. They launchers are firing in diferent directions in order to confuse the emeny and mask their true location. That way counter fire can not be fixed due to the smoke signature. By the time the enemy figures out the firing point, the launchers are long gone. BRING THE RAIN!!!!

  • The only thing scarier than this is being on the receiving end!

  • Haha, makes me wonder why some countrys are either crazy enough or stupid enough to realy piss us off....

  • YOU ESS MEHREENS!

    TOEDEH FAYGHT DEH ENEHMEH

  • They're Shooting At Anything That Moves ;)

  • Those rockets sound so beautiful!

  • Someone's day just got really shitty.

  • Makes you wonder what's they're aiming at...

  • A RUASSIA É PIONEIRA EM LANÇADORES MULTIPLOS DE FOGUETES, OS AMERICANOS E BRITANICOS NÃO PRESTAM.

  • arnt these m270 made in usa

  • @USAmilitarypower Of course. They were made at the Lockheed Martin plant. Some M272's were manufactured under license by Diehl BGT defense of Germany.

  • Our artillery will break their will!

  • @jwalker477 i know uk has m270 but i dont know if this is it or not

  • I want to say i was in one of the launchers during this Show of awesome Steel Rain during Desert Storm. I want to comment on what someone said earlier, on what we were firing at, because we were firing in all different directions, well to say that the desert is so vast and there were so many Iraqi targets all at once. I am so proud to be a part of Both Iraq wars, and we used MLRS in Iraqi Freedom too, and it was 100 times better during this last war. I am now retired and proud of our troops!!

  • its like freaking WW3

  • ... rockets red glare ...

  • U.S. Army Ordnance Missile and Munitions Center and, school. Hurry up classes begin as soon as you graduate from boot camp, Basic Combat Training, hurry up we need bullet sponges, and engineers.

  • what the fuck they are shootin? they are firein in all directions!

  • @01FaTaL10 better to turn the area into a huge crater than miss XD

  • I sat in one of these and turned the engine on, theyre way bigger than I thought theyd be!

  • Go get 'em boys!!

  • I would totally dance while they where going off.

  • American's Should Buy Astros II...

  • Heh.

I was reading wikipedia on this thing. The British call this the "General Support Rocket System" (GSRS).

The troops gave it a better acronym: Grid Square Removal System.

  • 0:25, IS THAT C3PO?

  • @mitout123 Yes.

  • now, thats the way to fuck some camel farmers in iraq^^

  • IM OVER HEREE!!! COME GETT ME

  • the one, and only solution to stop a griefer...

  • it's so pretty... i love it

  • it looks almost beautiful. but where the payload drops probably not so beautiful.

  • @ScrapeNow

Where the payload drops doesn't get a say in the matter, so everyone's happy!

  • what are they shooting at?

  • @AVIV222

    Targets! Duh!

  • Good 'ole grid square removal system.

  • @Melanth89 hehe

  • @Melanth89

What is the grid square? And why are they shooting in all sorts of directions like this so close to each other? And I take it there really isnt a counter weapon that can intercept these types of rockets is there?

  • @CazK88 Its an area on the map. The nickname implies that the MRLS can obliterate pretty much anything inside of it. The launcher firing off in a different direction was apparently a US crewed one that had a mix up on what grid it was firing at, and there probably is some kind of countermeasure, but I don't personally know of one off the top of my head.

  • @CazK88 Experiments with a land based variant of the GE Vulcan Phalanx CIWS, common to many surface warships in NATO, to protect bases in Iraq against mortars & RPG's have had mixed results. As they fire 4,200 rounds ( bullets) per minute the potential for damaging peoples houses or friendly troops is huge. Also they're big units that require a lot of logistical & technical support, so pragmatically the future for artillery barrage countermeasures looks quite bleak.

  • @RonnieJamesable

So the Phalanx is a manned gun? I thought this was automatic once it picks a missile up by radar? And is there a particular size requirement the missile must be in order for the Phalanx to be effective? What if a nuke comes close...would the Phalanx be successful at intercepting it?

  • @CazK88 CIWS have a huge degree of automation, but they also require 60 rounds of 20mm ammunition per second! someone’s gotta hump it! & extensive periods of use can quickly damage the barrels.

As for size, I believe improvements with the new Kilo band transmitter can now track objects the size of a basketball at mach 1.5 ( which is one pretty fast mortar!) so no, I think it could 'attempt' to take on any size ordnance. As for nukes... above my pay grade... but erm, no, because they air burst!

  • @RonnieJamesable

Interesting...I think the military has come a long way with these technologies. My thing is about our enemies and competitors. How we keep our competitors from knowing our military secrets and us actually building these technologies without the enemy surpassing us just blows my mind. You have China who steals these secrets, but must not have the resources to develop it. Same with Russia and Iran. So it's quite interesting and proves why we are on top.

  • Comment removed

  • @CazK88 Yeah, the Tom Clancy side of things really is some messed up sh*t! Sleeper agents who work in the photocopying pool at Lockheed for 14 years, slowly copying documents etc.

Currently, China and Russia are said to be running about 15 years behind us technologically, so if you take our capabilities from the mid '90's that's basically where they are(see Chinese J20 'Stealth' vids. on here) India and Iran are about 20 years behind, so however we keep our big secrets it seems to be working!

  • @RonnieJamesable

LOL! Yeah well let's hope China can stay further behind and that we don't run out of ideas. Because I really see China being the next modern day USSR threat to the U.S. It also makes me wonder if I should learn Chinese now or stick with Russian lol. Because Russia has been evolving too, just that they are losing population a lot.

  • @CazK88

India is the one to watch over Russia in my book. Our ops. in Afghan have their blessing, as I think they would like to extend trade with the Tajiks, Kurgistanian's & of course the Afghans themselves, not least in the Wakhan corridor where evidence of infrastructure projects are on the rise.

English is still going to be an important Lingua Franca, as there are many dialects spoken on the sub Continent. Mandarin -on the other hand- could be a night school class that truly pays off!

  • @RonnieJamesable

Yeah, but India is our ally. It's one thing learning the language of an ally, but a totally different demand learning the enemies language. I guess you have a point on the trade issue. And I think learning any of these fluently will pay off undoubtedly. It's just hard to understand where the trend will go in the next 10, 20 or even 5 years!

  • @CazK88 I think the 21st century is definately an Eastern century.I've just finished reading an article about how London is still the money laundering capital of the world.Laurent Gbagbo put 36 million (US) dollars through The City before being deposed earlier this year.My guess is that this corruption keeps Africa from reaching it's full potential. I also think that Asian fraudsters, crooks &scumbags are laundering their cash in Hong Kong & Shanghai. We're finished, and we kind of deserve it!

  • @RonnieJamesable

So you think the US is finished in terms of its hegemony and world standing? I would say that American's image has deteriorated, but we still remain strong (militarily) and somewhat politically.

  • @CazK88 it would appear foolish to underestimate the US capability for competition, so no I didn't mean finished in the sense of 'finished'! & this ambiguity is my fault, I apologise. I meant the West's dominance is finished, and real competition in the global market is now awake, mostly in the East. Poor & lazy writing on my part. I was having a bit of an emotional fit after reading the Financial Services Authority report on money laundering. It's depressing learning about fiscal suppression!

  • @RonnieJamesable I would have to agree. The West doesn't seem as dominant as they used to be, and yes a new market is expanding in the East and business are stirring their direction there. If the US only would manufacture here, the country would grow from within and avoid funding the East, primary China. When a country like that has the US by the balls, economically the US would look weaker. Especially when you fight against party lines and can't come to a consensus on a debt ceiling. Awful.

  • India is the one to watch over Russia in my book. Our ops. in Afghan have their blessing, as I think they would like to extend trade with the Tajiks, Kurgistanian's & of course the Afghans themselves, not least in the Wakhan corridor where evidence of infrastructure projects are on the rise.

  • @RonnieJamesable Ughhh you think India and Iran only 5 years behind Russia... Dude you are buying Russian RD-180 rocket engines to launch Atlas V. Only by 2020 NASA plans to come up with a copy and replacement for RD-180. But so far you have nothing to replace it with. So who is behind?

  • @CazK88 grid square= 1 square kilometer on a military map.

  • this is my job in the army

  • Cool Vid i was in the first unit trained on MLRS we had both brits and germens training with us. This remindes me of some good times and good people.

  • DONT MINT PAYING TAX FOR THIS EITHER ,,,WELL DONE LADS

  • Americas MLRS are 99% accurate and on several countries waiting list. I dont know why we Americans put so much money into our military but i saw this weapon on the military channal and it was number one.

  • @tupac3485

Wow sure is MLRS the best and number one if you are looking american TV or TV in the NATO nations.

Russian "Cмерч" - Tornado is 3x better than US MLRS.

"Cмерч" is the strongest multiple rocket launcher system for now.

The MLRS starts to get better but Tornado was made like in 90s.

Tornado can fire 90km forwards and he hits nearly 70 hectars

He needs 3 minutes to get battle ready.

And he has more powerful engine because its a little bit hard to transport 50t.

    He uses 300mm caliber.

  • @tupac3485

I am not saying US army is weak...but often NATO nations uses the "Media" for manipulating people.

Russia too, but I go wikipedia or other websites or look up in books or try to find a film but on both sights so I can compare it and then I can say that this one is better...or the best.

But with one perspective you never will know the truth

  • I love my old job Arty job

  • @TORRESSOTO1 13Delta?

  • Wow.

It is too wonderful and scary.....

  • My dad fought during Desert Storm/Shield, he said being out in the middle of the desert (he was a Captain btw) and seeing those things fire off was fucking amazing, especially at night.

  • On my signal. Unleash Hell

  • these things are crazy there are so many variations in the warheads they can carry, even chemical warheads have been manufactuerd :/

  • watch?v=wupToqz1e2g

  • We called them "anti-personnel" rockets. Kind of makes me laugh to look back on it.

  • hell yeah

  • nothing compared to the russian smerch

  • @serezhka021 haha and yet Russia doesn't even operate 100 of them. And even though the rockets are nearly x3 times bigger the smech can only fire a meager 90 km.

  • @2bpilot AHAHAHAHAHa YESSSSS!

  • i was a 13p and 13e in FA , caculated data for MLRS in desert storm and yea we fired over 1200 rockets....... each rocket has 644 bomblets... on impact 1 rocket covers the length of a football field!!!!!!

  • waste of money

  • @KingofArmA no its not.. that rain can take out a whole battalion of tanks.. they shoot down molten metal straight through them

  • @xraidedlok molten copper actually...

  • I'd hate to be on receiving end on that final barrage.

  • awesome fireworks!

  • it sounds like music

  • Cool in night.

  • 0:33 soooo eerie

I'v got to know what that sounds like to the guys calling them in

  • What can I say? Kill everyfucking one of 'em...

  • Here comes America... Open wide

  • @damancoolkid2 Uhhmmm... they're British, kid. LOL) Close back!

  • @damancoolkid2 they are english launchers 39 regt

  • @damancoolkid2 Theyre British Army MLRS.

  • @Furicist how do you no

  • @USAmilitarypower I did a bit of research at the time of posting and found out that it could only be the British one. I dont remember exactly how I found out, but I was sure enough to post here. Ive been inside one too, theyre incredible, gigantic! Very noisy too.

  • @USAmilitarypower Oh yeah, the recorder also says in the details of the video that theyre British army.

  • @damancoolkid2

    These are British MLRS....

  • Comment removed

  • MLRS is a f*cking bastard that supposed to combine a decent MLRS and tactical SSM launch platform. It fails at both. MFOM and AFOM rockets and missiles were created to be launched by big variety of platforms, and understandably fell victim to recent trend of universalization and standartization of army munitions, i.e. having disadvantages of each, but advantages of none of them. I do not know any possible war scenario where MLRS would be a better choice over a dedicated system.

  • 21 Iraqi's watched this video!

  • These were american MLRS.

  • @tonygogap how can you tell just wondering?

  • @mikeymike4g63 Watch v=BhScbwnZnJ0 it is a American MLRS.

  • Gentlemen. The Shit, has just hit the fan.

  • They can hit targets over 100 miles away, would truly suck to be on the other end of those.

  • "OVERKILL"

  • @YourDBest4Me I always thought the same

  • I can just imagine the enemy watching this:

0:16 - "Well at least there's only two of them"

0:21- (Camera pans right) "Well... crap"

  • BEST FIREWORK SHOW I HAVE EVER SEEN!

  • im in artillery did i just observe cross firing at the last part ???? isn't that like super safety breach.

  • @zong26

they had them timed really well to be safe enough

    0861 here

  • 21 people got hit by steel rain

  • Terriost: Well shit Ali, I'm out.

  • I liked the part when the rockets were firing

  • This was the first time the MLRS was used in combat, It wasnt just british, there was an American National guard unit from Ft. Sill Oklahoma attached to the British unit who was also firing here. this is both US and UK here. allies at our best... I was MLRS crewmember from 1999 to 2003 A 6/37 and A 2/20

  • @ninjafatballz Im considering transferring from the reserves to go MLRS, would you do it? lol

  • @penpen132 Well, I personally would rather do ANY combat MOS than be caught dead in the reserves lol...

  • @ninjafatballz Its not so bad! MLRS looks like it would be one job that would never get old though.

  • @penpen132 I can see why you would think that by looking at this video... but its not all glory like this haha in reality you would be lucky if you were even ever part of a launcher crew... usually do ammo platoon. However some folks like myself always was in a launcher somehow or another, but the damn rockets cost so much you hardly ever shoot the fucking things. My unit from Ft. Hood went to Iraq and all they did was kick in doors for a year, and they didnt shoot a single Fire Mission haha..

  • now that sound means buisnis!

  • trailer for the movie "taxpayer may cry"!

  • @Brockolli3000

I'm actually ok with my tax money spent like this, not ok with the 300 lb welfare mom and unemployment checks

  • @gaunt98kk1 You deserve more than one thumbs up from me - I couldn't agree more with you.

  • @gaunt98kk1

    Your fucking stupid.

  • @Brockolli3000 they are british who cares

  • @xraidedlok Err...the British?

  • @Brockolli3000 HAHAHAHAHA~

  • Man I can't wait til warfare is automated and we have no reason to stop fighting each other. It will be like battle-bots on an international Olympic scale! Oh boy! But really .... you know what my peoples? We shouldn't argue about who has better stuff... I've done it and I've come to discover we are all subject to our devices. Escalation; If we build something, they build something better... ultimately to kill each other.

  • Sad...

  • Night shoot, one unit launching in a completely diferent direction. Not just a couple of degrees out.........................WHY?

  • @homeguard11 US Mix up on Grid location. If you dont tell teh system you've change 100kms GZ it thinks its firing at a grid in the last grid square Hence firing behind!!!

  • @homeguard11 US Mix up on Grid location. If you dont tell the system you've change 100kms GZ it thinks its firing at a grid in the last grid square Hence firing behind!!!

  • @homeguard11

    Perhaps they have different targets.

  • @homeguard11 They probably had different targets to hit

  • sniff im tearin' up. ITS SO BEAUTIFUL

  • great video i do miss my m270 mlrs launcher

  • @YourDBest4Me Just what I was thinking like Armageddon...probably what it will look like soon....something out of Terminator 3 movie...or The Day after...

  • Multiply this by a factor of at least 10,000 if war were to break out on the korean peninsula. The north would flatten seoul and 10 million people in 30 minutes.

  • this is what my job will be by early next year

  • Id love to be the Fo calling this shit in :D

  • Check out the one that explodes after launch, at like :58

  • Real

  • is that testing or real artillery support

  • @2bpilot lol i bet 90% of war videos have that song in it

  • STEEL RAIN!

  • Don't wanna be on the wrong end of a battery of these babies.

  • now that's a force multiplier

  • Wicked!

  • Israel should use these to counter HAMAS

  • Check out Deadlist Weapons. This was #1 in the World. They can set the warhead to go off hundreds of feet above a targer and shower down thousands of grenades (what the Iraqis called "steel rain") or have it go of right above the ground so that the force of the explosion is not absorbed by the sand like a normal bomb. They can put one of these bad boys in your pocket from miles away.

  • Holy mac and cheese, new 3.1.3 jailbreak for Iphone/Ipod here: /watch?v=EZE3r47VZqA

  • @UKkid19 well it's with anti tank mines the AT2 or so? Idk but I know we get SMArt ammo into Gmlrs rockets^^ +we have it alreay in Pzh2000 ammo. So you can come with thousands of tanks but they all get a shower. SMart is top kill anti tank ammo (bofors has also developped something similar and the russians long before^^)

  • wow

  • Seeing those missiles depart to go out and kill sandniggers brings tears to my eyes, it's so beautiful.

  • That was pretty amazing I was on the M109 A5 and A6. I think you guys are a bit faster.

  • it is terrible.

  • the russian 9k58smerch is a little bitch with american M270 MLRS

  • All I can see is

    $

  • I'd love to see the carnage on the receiving end. Anyone know how effective this is against entrenched soldiers?

  • well you cannot argue about the afghanistan disaster with the russian military because the taliban back then had western military specialists who trained them and delivered the equipment just like the russians did in vietnam ^^ kinda ironic

but at least every single dead sandnigger wont be a menace anymore and considering the quotas on how much talibans die to kill one soldier western nations got pretty efficient in the last years.

  • I need one of these for a school project.

  • I remember shooting some of this, about twenty six seconds in you see a desert cam'd soldier walking into shot in the foreground, that was my captain, I was pissed off at the time thinking he'd spoilt the shot, but looking back at it now he adds a kind of human perspective to a surreal backdrop, ninteen years too late, but well done Chris.

  • its amusing with the amount of firepower the russians and US have taken into afganistan. and yet they still lose the fight agaisnt the taliban. im not even gonna start on the US in vietnam and the amount of firepower there.

  • such a beautifull sight to behold.

such a pain in the ass for the enemy

  • This from 1991?

  • Theres a second Missle these things can launch that split apart in mid air to destroy multiple targets. Similar to the missle in the first Iron Man movie. They are so large thought that the MLRS vehicle can only carry 2
