If you're born and raised in Egypt you're Egyptian. It's really narrow minded to claim some are more Egyptian than others. Jews, Christians and Muslims all lived in Egypt for CENTURIES! No one can trace their family back to Mina! You can be Muslim with Christian roots (those who converted after Islam entered Egypt), you can be Christian but originally Greek or Italian, a Jew who's originally Moroccan. We're a mix of cultures, that's the beauty of Egypt.

Yes. You are absolutely right. But, who has the pharaonic roots? The Copts do, but most Egyptians today don't. We, as Copts, come from the line of Pharaoh, whereas "Arabs", or most Egyptians or today, don't. That is why it is more appropriate to refer to ourselves as Copts before Egyptians. Because Egyptian does not mean what it meant before, and does not represent US. Coptic, as in real Egyptian, does.
