LOL. I had a bottle of wine last night while kicking back in my jacuzzi. Pet Sounds was playing on my iPod. Pet Sounds is, in my opinion, one of the top 5 albums ever made. Just splendid.
omg i this isnt my favorite beach boy song but i still love this video... omg they r all so cute right there especial dennis darn its ashame him and carl died...
I don't think the 'touring' Beach Boys did this arrangement as it was recorded, particularly the vocal harmonies. There is a version from 1988 with just Brian Wilson and a back up band... that live version sounds true to the record.
I've said it before many many times and I'll say it again and again and again, 'God Only Knows' is by far the greatest, most amazing, most beautiful song ever created.
The BBoys went to Hawaii in 67 with the original members (Their 10th anniv.?) The concert was filmed for a possible album/film, but marred by a thin sound and cause Carl (lead guitarist) was on Bass because regular bassist Bruce Johnston (did they tell him to stay home?) wasn't there; Brian did bass on a few cuts. Carl wasn't good on bass. They simply should have included Johnston on bass, their touring bassist. Duh. But, the Heroes&Villains from this 67 show on LiveLondon 2frCD is great.
Don't forget the Beatles also covered Money, Slow Down, Honey Don't, Everybody's Trying to Be My Baby, Beusume mucho, Act Naturally, Till There was You, Baby Its You, Leave My Kitten Alone, Mr Moonlight, etc, ect...This guy who claimed the Beatles never did coveres is an idiot!
yeah,,,the only one of them iv heard of is twist and shout, i dont like most of the early beatles, hold your hand and shit. their later albums were sooooo much better. and what are all the other songs on bbc sessions??
I was talking about the beatles, not about the beach boys. Pet sounds is probably my favourite album. In fact it's playing right now in the other room!
The sound is from a different gig, as someone's already said. The track (and several others from the same show) were released on a twofer CD a while ago with an earlier BB live LP. I forget the title. Not hard to find.
The famous GOK montage. The sound is from a different concert (London, December 1, 1968). From the AN AMERICAN BAND docu, also released on the SOUNDS OF SUMMER DVD.
worthless beach boys cant even play brian wilson's songs correctly. god damn leeches

Just think, about a year or so after this performance, baby-faced Carl would look like Merlin Olson :-)
I still say.. they damn well could've (should've)
performed this WONDERFUL material at Monterey Pop!!
THANKS FOR POSTING THIS VIDEO!! :-)

This song might have sounded great done by the Beatles. But its a total Beach boys song, destined for them to sing as far as I can see.

According to Sir Paul McCartney, 'God Only Knows' was the 'best song ever written'. This song prompted Paul to pen 'Here, there and Everywhere'

And that's about 10% of the songs they did cover. Their first album had 6 covers out of 9 songs!

How many songs did they cover on the album Pet Sounds?
The Pet Sounds album inspired the Beatles to create SPLHCB.Interesting isn't it?
